Start with these two albums. They're on Youtube, or you can buy used CDs.

Staring at the Sea
Released in 1986, this is a compilation of singles from 1976-1986.

Galore
Released in 1997, this is a compilation of singles from 1987-1997.

From these two albums, you'll find which songs you like best. Then go buy the full album for those.

Then there's this: https://www.amazon.com/Grunt-Pigorian-Chant-Snouto-Domoinko/dp/0761105948

It sounds like Gregorian chants, it's performed by professional choristers, the only catch is that it's things like Old McDonald Had A Farm in Latin, complete with the EIEIO; and other pieces in Pig Latin. If you ever have the misfortune to have to attend professional development sessions, innocently offer "Gregorian Chants" as a background (and don't show them the cover), then sit back and quietly chuckle to yourself when everyone relaxes and oohs and aahs, but absolutely nobody twigs the lyrics...

Stockholm syndrome. It's maddening.

Slicing up Eyeballs, December 2011:

“The Cure have been re-issuing re-mastered versions of their early albums since 2003, with 1992’s Wish (the album that carries the single ‘Friday I’m In Love’) scheduled for the ‘deluxe re-release’ treatment in 2012.”

To date, Rhino Records has released expanded reissues of each of Robert Smith and Co.’s studio albums up through 1989’s Disintegration, which received a 3CD package upon its re-release last year. Wish, originally released May 26, 1992, is the next in line.

From an interview with BBC Radio 6 from August 2018:

"Robert also goes on to talk about how he stopped working on the remasters after the Disintegration deluxe edition, but that he has now picked the project back up again, starting with Mixed Up. Surprisingly, he then goes on to say he’s just “finished the Wish album, which is the next one up” in the deluxe remaster project."

I'm not even going to go further back than that, but there has been both official and unofficial talk of the remaster release dating all the way back to 2006. Almost 14 years ago now. It's impressive how long this thing has been in hibernation.

Ten Imaginary Years.

It's a lot more expensive than it used to be because it's been out of print for so long, but it's absolutely essential reading on the band's early years.

Unless you're in the UK or Japan, there is no "domestic" release.

According to my copy of The Cure on Record, "Whispers" was never released in the U.S., which is where I'm guessing you're located.
