I have seen some other people comment this, but if you got a basic fountian pen like the Lamy Safari or even several cheeper ones like the Platinum Preppy you could fill them with a variety of inks both based on colour and property, while you can figure out what most inks have as property the Golet Pen Company (no affiliation, except a big fan) has a great chart of the diffrent properties of Noodler's Inks, while is it not compressive to other companies, it is a great place to start. They also have a lot of ink reviews, and swabs to compare the colours of the inks.
Also if you'd prefre not to use a fountain pen, there are some refillable rollerball pens that you can get.
I used to be a draftsman and I would have to go out and survey entire schools, I used a Zebra mini, the nib was relatively small and the ballpoint makes it so that the ink dries pretty fast. They are pretty cheap and can be purchased on Amazon in a nice pen/pencil set.
They also look pretty out of the normal being tiny and all.
Edit: Here ya go!
Please note the Safari doesn't come with a converter so if you don't plan to use cartridges (it comes with one) you will want to add a Lamy Converter to your order.
As for inks, any quality ink will work fine in your pen. Brands often mentioned in [/r/fountainpens ] include Noodler's, Parker, Daimine, Iroshizuku, Parker, and Sheaffer. Noodler's is generally considered one of the best values as its price per ounce is among the lowest. All of these inks should be available on Amazon. GL with your purchase!
I got one about a month ago. It's the cheapest model sold by Amazon (this one: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Space-Pen-ST-Space-Tec/dp/B001NXDFCI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1370399418&sr=8-5&keywords=space+pen) And I'm loving it. The pen itself is kind of light, wich I didn't like much. But the ink flows very well. I'm more a gel pen guy, but I've been using the Space pen a lot.
My vote is for the Pentel EnerGel Deluxe

Edit: (Amazon link + non-pearl) : http://www.amazon.com/Pentel-EnerGel-Deluxe-Retractable-BLN75BP2C/dp/B002VL6L0O
You should be able to find the 4-pack combination pack locally that includes a green pen.
It appears that's the only way they're sold, from what I can tell.
