Amazon Video is not free but it actually works for international viewers, which was a pleasant surprise. I am in Argentina and I can't watch it on Fox, Hulu or Yahoo View, but I bought the Season Pass in Amazon for $25 and I just finished streaming Episode 2 just fine.

Not OP, but I bought this one on Amazon and really liked it. Only issue was that the button on the pants came off but that’s an easy fix.

I have lasers that do this kind of effect. They're low powered but they're lasers. This one's $120 on amazon https://www.amazon.ca/SUNY-Combinations-Projector-Decoration-Activated/dp/B01EYKXQ5M/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1550994623&sr=8-19&keywords=laser+projector

Plus, the one I have I bought 5 years ago for $30 and has a sweeping line mode that does same effect as on the show...but youre right..theyre not that bright in daylight or indoor lighting, but with the magic of camera work and exposure, this effect is most definitely a half practical (laser on set) and half embellishment by CGI

So yeah, youre right... in a daylight setting those lasers are not that bright, but I believe they filmed in near darkness and used camera trickery to make it seem brighter.

I wish the producers would just comment here and explain. "EXPLAIN!!!!" <-- Dalek voice.

(Hopefully Yahoo View might also have the rest of the episodes
free throughout the season, but we don't know that yet.)

The first episode is also free on Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, and iTunes.

i hope Seth releases a 'Technical Manual' like Gene did with the TNG Enterprise. (I got a 20 year old 1st edition sitting here) very very detailed

Better yet, Micro Machines, like the classic Star Trek set.

there used to be a hot potato game that might be an interesting base concept to copy. You started the game, passed the hot potato around and at some point it would give you a mild shock (it had contact points all over it and it was pretty tough to hold it without contacting more then one point)

Thought I should look around online for it, found something like what I remember:: Amazon link

Sounds like a good way to show support for the show from the start and increase the likelihood of a second season. OP's link appears to be dead, though. So if anyone wants a link directly to the DVD : https://smile.amazon.com/The-Orville-Season-1/dp/B075K23YTM

There's a great book series about von Neumann probes: Bobiverse: We Are Legion (We Are Bob).

I have a Starfleet Command San Francisco Navy Yard parking permit sticker on my front windshield. I've had more than one drive through worker thank me for my service.

> Amazon

>Australia

They are not even here yet. But they are launching at the end of this/early next year! Amazon US is kind of hard to tell though. They never say something is not available. But they will have restrictions on it like shipping only to the US. That said, their site does have it up.

Well, here is something a bit exotic for any non-dorky bad-asses reading right now.

> I thought they established some of this in later seasons

No, it is well established that there is continuity of conciseness in the transporter.

Transporters operate on a quantum level, actually moving your molecules from one place to another and reassembling them. You aren't killed each time you use one.

The Star Trek The Next Generation: Technical Manual covered this in detail.

Your actual quantum bits are "MOVED" to a new location using a Dirac Jump named for the physicist Paul Dirac

Michael Okuda, said "Transporting does NOT involve killing the person."

In the Next Generation graphic novel titled Forgiveness, the scientist who invented the transporter says “The transporter doesn’t just send information on how to build a copy of you, it sends you… soul and all.”

This is established in TNG's "Realm of Fear" we see what a person being transported experiences first-hand.

in Lonely Among Us TNG 1x07 Picard joins with an external cloud-energy life form and ends up being incompatible with the energy-being The engineering team work out some how his essence can be taken into the ship's computer and re-infused with the transporter buffer's last memory of Picard's physical form. This all seems to indicate that you essence, consciousness, soul can somehow be moved by transporters.
