Brother in law, check the supermarkets they usually have decent deals on single malt scotch at this time of year, you'll be able to pickup stuff for a good 10 quid cheaper than you'll find for most of the rest of the year.

Dad, http://www.belgianbeerfactory.com/ they do great samplers of Belgian lagers, cheaper than pretty much anywhere you'll find in the UK (they're actually shipping from Belgium) postage is £6 for up to 48 bottles which is god damned incredible! (plus you can grab some for yourself...)

Sister... http://www.amazon.co.uk/SuperFast-Thermapen-professional-food-thermometer/dp/B002657DW0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449099417&sr=8-1&keywords=thermapen < Thermapen, cooks like to be able check temps on food and these do it in 3 seconds, even if she's already got one, you can never have too many!

Mom, sorry, out of ideas at this point :(

I wear brightly coloured socks and make a point of them to be non-matching, I really don't like wearing ones that match. My favourite are bright stripey ones.
I also have muppet socks, but not the men's ones in Asda, had mine for about 3 years. :-)

Edit Mine looks like these although I quite like the Asda ones...

We feed ours twice a day, but with automated feeders (other models available etc, this is just an example), and if you can get a good cat flap we have this one, and if you can promise to provide fresh water daily, and get him/her neutered/spayed, they're pretty self reliant.

World Book Day... Hmm Mrs Dwair went to school dressed as The Gruffalo. Well she looked like a brown furry hell spawn thing anyway. I swear to god my household gets more bizarre every day. I just hope she doesn't scare the kids too much while she rants at them about conjunctive adverbs.

Just finished [Exigency by Michael Siemsen] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00MQGNPT4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_d_detailpage_o01_) which was OK in a kinda forgettably entertaining sort of way.

Just started Caretaker by Josi Russell which is equaly OK in a kinda forgettably entertaining sort of way.

We eventually got one of those alarm clocks with a lamp that prevents SAD, basically it slowly lights up the room to imitate a sunrise so you're don't wake up in the dark in winter. There was some success with that for early mornings, but - when it's high summer and the sun's been shining for 3 hours already and she popped awake at 7am to bright sunshine, not so much.

Example from amazon of the [type of clock here] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lumie-Bodyclock-STARTER-Wake-Up-Features/dp/B002TEXEAI/ref=sr_1_1/279-5517986-3368937?ie=UTF8&qid=1395750996&sr=8-1&keywords=lumi+alarm+clock) although you've probably already heard of them.

I enjoyed Refuge, by Richard Herley. It's about a man who thinks he is the last person in the world until he discovers a recently-killed body in a creek near his home.

Here is the book's first chapter.

There's also Aztec, by Gary Jennings, which is a fantastic adventure story set in pre-Columbian Mexico. You can get a preview on its Amazon.com page.

Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes. Set in Vietnam, obviously written as a semi-autobiography. I love it, I've read it at least 10 times. Fantastic insight into being a leader in a war no-one wants to be in. Shows the best and worst of man, all in about 60 days.
Fantastic read

A good oilstone can't be matched. If you want to sharpen anything to razor get a good Arkansas translucent hard stone as your final sharpen - something like this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Norton-Translucent-Arkansas-Bench-Stone/dp/B004IZQTQM

As a kid, The Outsiders. Got reminded of it the other day elsewhere on reddit. Is brilliant, and a well known classic.

Shockingly I've never read Of Mice And Men, that seems to be the standard school reading book. Never got round to picking it up.

Not long finished Marching Powder. The true story of a British guy who got locked up for drug smuggling in the worlds most bizarre jail, San Pedro, Bolivia. Eventually he started giving jail tours to backpackers, and one of them, Rusty, sort of transcripts his story into a book. Really good. Being made into a film with Don Cheadle last I read.

I'll show you what phone I have so you can have a laugh ... I got it a year ago and have spent less than £20 using it so far ... it doesn't have internet though haha

Yeah I heard about Hinkley Point C, wonder if it will happen as it needs a hike in Electricity prices. No role for me, being in Sweden and all.

Glad you asked for recommendations - read the Mythical Man Month, it is a classical piece of literature on Software Development , its from the 60s 70s but holds true even today,

http://www.amazon.com/The-Mythical-Man-Month-Engineering-Anniversary/dp/0201835959/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375051342&sr=8-1&keywords=mythical+man+month

and Code Complete, by Steve Mcconnell (I have met him in the US a few times)

http://www.amazon.com/Code-Complete-Practical-Handbook-Construction/dp/0735619670/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1375051372&sr=1-1&keywords=code+complete

probably enough with those two to start with..

Well some cigar shops also sell gents accessories such as shaving equipment, badger hair brushes, shaving soap and I would get some from there. This is the one I liked and look its on Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bounder-Extra-Firm-Moustache-10ml/dp/B009KK6348

u/the_thinker · 1 pointr/TheRedLion

How about this?

All the functionality of a S4/S5, though slightly slower and less cool at around 1/4th the price. Is a good compromise, I think!

u/xboudiccax · 1 pointr/TheRedLion

I think this one will be best. It even has pockets for his cigars and rum.
