I have had a cast on my arm for six weeks and still have a brace I have to wear 90% of the time. Here are my tips.

Any kind of case with a grip on the back. Popsockets are readily available, but definitely not the best. I have a case with a rotating ring on the back and it's amazing. Granted, I have a smaller phone, but since the ring rotates, I can hold my phone in either hand relatively well.

Sit down when you're playing. It sounds annoying, but it's a life saver. Not having to hold your phone is going to help a ton.

Be careful with playing a lot (i.e. raid days, CDs, marathons, whatever). I didn't break my wrist, but had a ligament tear and I would always regret playing the next day. Do your best to use your non injured hand, even if you feel fine during.

Get friends. Seriously, my friends have been awesome in helping me since I've been injured. I offer to drive on big event days and they just take me phone for me.

Not sure what your cast (or whatever) is like, but I found it easy to hold my phone with my uninjured hand and tap with the knuckles of my injured hand. Less pain and easy to keep control of the phone.

Good luck!

The distance tracking is fantastic on the watch. If you own a Nintendo Switch, and wear your Apple Watch, it will count the movements with the controller as steps, gaining you egg distance. Two hours of playing Arms on the Switch hatched every single egg I had in incubators, to include some 10Ks.

Separately, the Apple Watch really pairs well with Apple Maps. It will make a ding noise and vibrate once in concert with apple maps when you need to make a turn. I love this feature!

With regards to the iPhone 6, it will play Pokemon Go just fine, but I would recommend a used iPhone 6s simply to get the better processor and force touch.

To be honest, I would get a better phone and a [Pokemon Gotcha] (https://www.amazon.com/DATEL-Pokémon-Wristband-iPhone-Android/dp/B06Y5BTX8L) for now. You can have it set up to auto spin poke stops, and / or auto catch Pokemon. Once you see how well it works you'll use it a lot more than your watch for distance.
And then save up for a nice Apple Watch a little later. (buy nice looking Apple Watch bands from amazon priced at 6-7 bucks rather than from Apple for way too much!)

G'luck!

I always wear boots, because I walk the dog daily. However, I can recommend Altberg Tabbing Boots - it's a lightweight and breathable boot, that's sort of a cross between boots and running shoes.

I also have owned and worn extensively Peacekeeper P1 Aqua, and Sneekers - they're good, but heavier duty waterproof boots. Lovely if you're tramping around in very soggy conditions, but overkill for playing PoGo.

I would also recommend you consider Liner Socks - these are thin, go under your 'normal' socks, but will significantly improve your comfort in all weather - in the cold, your feet will be a bit warmer and dryer, because there's a bit more insulation, and 'damp' is carried away. In the warm, your feet will be cooler and dryer, because the moisture won't sit next to your skin.

To quote:

> “The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.

> Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.

> But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

> This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socioeconomic unfairness.”

Not that all of it was bought specifically for Go, but it's stuff I've found extremely useful for Ingress and exploring in General.

A couple of these Anker external batteries, they're decently priced and do their job.

I've been using an older model of the Surge backpack by the North Face for a few years and it's been extremely durable to this day.

Any brand will do, but I have a Hyrapak brand water bladder in my backpack. Holds a lot more than any water bottle and the tube just makes life easier.

It's by no means a necessity, but my Hammer multi-tool has gotten me out of a bunch of binds.

And of course a hat, sunglasses and a paracord bracelet are must haves, but I don't have links to the ones I have for those lol.

Toss in some trail mix, sketchbooks, a camera, some nice pens or markers and some purolator stickers and you've got yourself a go-to bag of stuff for a good, long pokemon adventure. Hope that helps maybe.

At that price point the 64GB G6 on Amazon would be my suggestionhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C38BKCD/ref=twister_B07GYY6VTD?th=1

I have it. It's AWESOME. Very limited bloat compared to other manufactures, it charges SUPER fast. It's very comfortable to throw with, it works with AR+, it easily connects to the Pokeball Plus (this can be a huge issue with many arcore phones) and the switch. It looks, feels, and sounds great.

I adore this phone. It's also AMAZING for taking screenshots of raid eggs to report in to my discord. If you hold 3 fingers on the screen it screenshots. No messing with volume and power buttons and not hitting them just right and having your phone try to restart.

It's also confirmed to get android 9 soon.

If you can wait, you can get a even better price or the even larger model for less. I got the following for $80 over 6 months ago. It's a great battery and Anker is awesome customer support. Mine stopped charging a few weeks ago and Anker sent a replacement for free with an extra USB-c cable and charger. If you plan to upgrade to a new phone, I would definitely recommend it. This has USB-c and power delivery so it would charge quickly and can charge any usb-c devices very quickly. You could probably spend a lot less and get a quick charge compatible battery bank that supports QC3.

Yo, I dunno if it's Prime members only or something, but his is on sale for over 50% off!! Anker is an awesome brand as well, maybe the best. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_TyAyzbACZQZCX

u/chaoticgoblin · 2 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

Like most have suggested Anker is king of power banks, but I've honestly had no issues with my EasyAcc power banks which have been great for the price (I bought them at cheaper than the current Amazon listings). Link to those if you're still interested: 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh

u/GreenHeronVA · 1 pointr/TheSilphRoad

Yes that sounds about right. I have an iPhone 8, and I tether my sons iPhone 6 to it all the time. It’s about 2% battery drain per minute. I bought two Anker brand chargers from Amazon, I just keep them in my bag. When one is drained, I plug it in, and pull a fresh one off the charger. Has saved my butt many times during community day and what not.

ETA: Anker has been a great brand for me. I bought two of these ones. Amazon tells me I bought them in November 2017, and they still work as well as they did the day I bought them. They are just the right size to have plenty of charge, but still fit in your pocket.

Don't know how long you would be staying in Milan, but PoGo plus is available for pre-order on Amazon IT at €39.99 free delivery. Dispatch on 29 Dec. Saw that it costs a lot in other Amazon sites. Other trainers in Europe may opt to get theirs from Amazon IT.

u/Avocet330 · 6 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

I (and several others in my area) have this inexpensive one and it works great. Bonus - you can take the "cap" off and lend it to another trainer to use at a raid.

This is the one I have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I haven't had it for super long but it's working phenomenally. Not too heavy, hasn't even died on me and it's been a week or two, so far. I would recommend it, especially since it's $20 less than the one you're looking at!

u/ArrangingTime · 1 pointr/TheSilphRoad

I just picked up this one because I needed the extra USB-C wall charger:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MZ61PRW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Vkd2CbTS86QSA

I also have an older version (no USB-C but same power capacity) of the one you linked and run it on a daily basis. It lasted all day through Go Fest last year. Anker makes a great charger.

USA here. I have the next phone up from this one as my spare, the samsung j3 orbit. I think samsung is the way to go with cheap phones. They have battery saving features like game launcher which allows you to lower the fps, etc. Plus the cheaper phones have removable batteries in most cases. Also the samsung screens are pretty good. I have barely no lag with this phone, and you should compare phones on tracfone, straight talk, total wireless, cricket, etc and see what their phone offerings are at the $50~ mark. https://shop.tracfone.com/shop/en/tracfonestore/phones/f/brand_samsung

Target sells the j3 orbit for $50, and I bought a case and screen protector on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F35PWDC , https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PJ9MVPR

If you want to spend more, they go in order of: j3 luna -> j3 orbit -> j7 crown and the prices of these range from $30 - $80 if you shop around.

u/Ulreki · 3 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

I used a conductive stylus this community day. Big fluffy gloves and a stylus in hand is how I've been playing in the cold and it's really helped a lot. I specifically bought this pen because it was cheap and works well enough. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008HJGPVO/

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one was the deal of the day two days ago.. just look on amazon. You'll probably find some really nice ones. Just make sure you get alot of storage on the battery since you'll never get a 1/1 ratio of charge, so this battery won't be able to charge my iphone 10 times despite the iphone having a 1800 mAH battery.

A phone bike mount will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

Makes playing ingress a lot more fast paced and fun! I imagine it will make this game fantastic too!

looks like its not on sale by amazon anymore, only third party. I pre-ordered mine back in june

u/Cainga · 3 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

There is a 3rd party device called gotcha that is apparently better than the go+. It doesn't have the software hiccups the go+ does apparently although the game thinks it is a go+.

u/kyron54 · 2 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

Where I got mine. It ships rather quickly. Hope that helps.

u/ctrlaltcreate · 3 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

I bought a black bracelet for my gotcha off of amazon. It's unobtrusive, and no more annoying than wearing a fitbit. If you want to protect it better, they do sell little keychain things that might make it a bit more bulky and easier to find in your pocket. I haven't tried one, though. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD89ZRR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_aX0Vzb5M7V78N

I own two of these. Worth every penny.

They're all from new sellers, but for 3 bucks I hope it's worth the risk. Will find out after April 11-14.

u/Abcmsaj · 4 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

Done some research into them and the reviews on Amazon are only 3.5 stars on average - are they really worth it? I'll pick one up if so... saves me having to learn to solder!

In the short term for next weekend, get more batteries and charge it up (while off) on a break to keep it from going to zero or if it hits there. Anker makes really nice large batteries.

I've been using this EasyAcc power bank since launch and it's held up fairly nicely.

PSA to anyone lucky enough to see this post. Amazon France has been going in and out of stock periodically over the last 24 or so hours. They are currently taking pre-orders to ship on 10/10:

https://www.amazon.fr/gp/offer-listing/B01HQ55NPI/?ie=UTF8&condition=all&tag=nowinet08-21&m=A1X6FK5RDHNB96

Purchased two units with 2-3 day shipping to the U.S for ~$103

-- EDIT -- now out of stock as of Sep 30 - 12:29 PM EST

u/Rachel53461 · 2 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

Something small like this is only $10 or so on Amazon, and you could probably easily sell them for $15-$20, especially if they came with a full charge. I saw a picture yesterday of someone selling fully charged chargers for $20 in a popular area (and selling out!), but I am not sure what type of charger it was.

u/LoveBeBrave · 1 pointr/TheSilphRoad

It looks like you can order it off Amazon.fr for only £40 including UK delivery. Just tried it now, says it should be here by 17th December.

u/Ssfeal · 2 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

Ok thanks. Not sure if you remember which listing but do you know if it was this one or this one?

u/DpwnShift · 1 pointr/TheSilphRoad

You can't even buy this $34.99 device on amazon for less than $100.

u/Buzzfa · 2 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

In stock on Amazon but act quickly. Saturday delivery available too.

u/shawtypaid · 4 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

For those of you still trying to get your hands on a Go Plus, Amazon Spain has had them pretty readily available since initial release. It appears to be unavailable until the 22nd now, but all the way up until last week or so, they were in-stock. I even bought one the day after Black Friday with no issues.

I live in Cali and the order came in less than a week. You can use your preexisting Amazon account, and you're only paying slightly more than the USD MSRP (40EUR ≈ 40 USD).

u/Pirate_King_Kuroashi · 1 pointr/TheSilphRoad

The difference depends on where you live. I've paid 44€ for the gotcha while I've paid 39€ for the go plus. Here as sample [amazon]
(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071R3P45V) has the gotcha for 49$ and [amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Pokemon-GO-Plus-Bluetooth-Bracelet/dp/B01H482N6E) has the go plus for 34,99$. Not saying this is the cheapest though, its very likely both cheaper on ebay maybe theres even an offer that ships somewhat in the beginning of the event.

u/Adobz · 1 pointr/TheSilphRoad

If you live in Canada, Amazon has had them in stock since yesterday.

u/LeafyLeith · 3 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

Some people use bike mounts for their phones. It's similar to one you would attach to your dashboard on your car, except it goes in the middle of your handlebars on your bike. Here's an example.

I would be careful if you use one while biking on bumpy terrain though, they can spit your phone right out if you shake 'em around too much.

u/SenorTortuga · 3 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

I had a terrible time with my Gotcha popping out of its wristband. It fit fairly well, but sometimes I'd be taking off a backpack or something and the strap would pop it out. I lost 3 Gotcha's this way and when I bought my 4th, I decided that the wristband was a bad idea. So I got one of these keychain holders and have been very happy with it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XD89ZRR/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_Ha01zb2RKM4TP

Because it's in my pocket, I don't have to worry about it popping out as much, and even if it does it'll still be in my pocket. It's also more discreet - even with a black wristband I had so many people ask me if it was some sort of Fitbit knockoff.

u/HalifaxSamuels · 19 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

That phone also costs $1000. For $50 I can get a great USB battery and keep mine and someone else's phones charged for that same 6 hours. For the few hundred dollars price difference between that and what I paid for my phone when it was new plus that battery, I'll suffer the inconvenience of having a cable attaching my phone to my pocket.

I do wish I had some sort of nighttime photo mode on my phone, though. The Oneplus community has always been rather upset at the quality of our cameras.
