11. The Army Painter Quickshade Wash Mixing Medium, 18ml Dropper Bottle

    Features:
  • FOR A LIGHTER TOUCH – We developed our Quickshade Wash Mixing Medium to provide you with the perfect solution if you love our Quickshades but want a lighter touch when using them. This medium will dilute the pigmentation of the wash while maintaining all the great properties for flow and surface tension of our quickshades
  • PERFECT CONSISTENCY AND EASY TO USE - These acrylic paints saves you time from paint preparation; no need to dilute. Our acrylic washes makes painting fun and easy, as the Quickshade formula allows for quick and efficient application of shades and contrast to your models. Quickshades will excellently define textured areas by letting the fine pigment flow into recesses, selectively tinting shadowy areas.
  • PRECISE AND EASY-TO-SQUEEZE BOTTLES – Our acrylic Warpaints come in soft 18ml bottles with precise dropper design, making it easy to administer paint in exact quantities, without risking them drying out from being exposed to air. The dropper bottle makes our paints very convenient for using in airbrush.
  • NON-TOXIC AND ECO FRIENDLY – Our Acrylic Warpaints are marked with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the objective of which is to reduce the overall environmental impact from production and consumption of goods. Furthermore our paints are non-toxic and safe to use for anyone just starting out miniature painting, as well as for the advanced hobbyist concerned with their health without compromising on the quality of their tools
  • BORN FROM GAMING – The Army Painter is the brainchild of wargaming and painting veterans of many years Bo Penstoft and Jonas Færing – We wanted to produce a product line that could have carried us all the way from the level of novice to experienced painters and gamers when we first started out. With The Army Painter our aim is to help you get awesome painted models on the table, and still get more time for Gaming!

We don't have any alternate codex yet, unfortunately. The Chaos index will give you data slates for all current Thousand Sons units so you can use them in games but if you don't have one yet an 8th edition core rulebook will have all the rules/scenarios you'll need to start playing. Your local game shop should have them available but if that's not an option then they retail for about $50 on Amazon.

In regards to the last question, it really depends on who you're playing with. Casual games with friends saying a Warpflamer is a Bolter probably won't be too much of an issue. If you're in a local/official tournament it may very well be a "model is equipped with what it has" situation. There's a couple posts on this sub about Warpflamers and how many you need but if you haven't assembled anything yet, I'd recommend giving magnetization a look over. It takes longer but will allow you to swap bolters and warpflamers easily so if you do encounter an issue with who has what, it can be handled.

This subreddit has an excellent post on magnetization:

Speaking as someone who's still learning all of this myself, all I can say is take your time and enjoy it. Thousand Sons are unique and crazy detailed. I'd recommend avoiding the trap of assembling everything all the way before painting, as getting into the chestplate nooks and crannies around a bolter is a world-class pain.

Otherwise welcome!

Hey, thanks all. The case is just a metal toolbox from home depot. (I think it's this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-20-in-Tread-Plate-Metal-Portable-Tool-Box-TB-520/202279042)

The base magnets are the cheap-o stick on magnets you can get on Amazon for pennies a piece (such as here: https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Magnets-Magnetic-Adhesive-Backing/dp/B076DVBZTX).

I use solid resin bases from dragonforge.com (excellent), and just stick the stickers on the bottom (with a drop of super glue). I cut them to fit more on. But that's pretty much it.

I do Leadbelcher spray can, followed by Tamiya Clear Red spray can. Link is below. I don't have an airbrush so my options were limited to get the shiny red appearance. I heard Tamiya had a spray can version of their clear red so I decided to try it and it looks pretty good. Small can though, I've gone through 1.5 cans already.

You could in the alternative, get a bunch of arms off of ebay, chop their arms off, and magnatize them so they can take different arms depending on what you want to roll.

It is a lot of work for tzangors, I have done this with a couple of my terminator squads, and on a couple of rubrics for the heavy weapon choice. You don't really have to, you could just make sure you disclose what they have before each game, but it is kind of fun to have the visual options.

get one of these https://www.amazon.com/NIUPIKA-Jewelers-Adjustable-Professional-Jewelry/dp/B01L1JXFDC/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_469_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YE9513NN9EPHMSX68GK1&dpID=41YWJvQl2pL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=detail
and try and find super small blades for it.

Urg, I don't really have a recipe or anything but it's basically base coated with a turquoise Daler Rowney acrylic ink and then for the purple shadow I glazed in some Lichen Purple from Vallejo Model Air. Then I brought up the highlights by slowly mixing in Vallejo Model Ice Yellow to the original blue ink and glazing or layering it brighter and brighter.

Actually, now that I think about it I didn't really add any highlights to this Rubric because I wanted him to be a bit dull. Check my post history for the contemptor to see the Ice Yellow/Turquoise highlights.

I just use Krylon - Gold (Brilliant).

$5 on Amazon

I do a Reikland Fleshshade wash after the primer then the gold. Comes out great. All sorts of detail, nothing lost!

Edit : Don’t Judge the blue and shaded side. Teaching the S/O some techniques

When you say, quickshade medium, do you mean this?

What techniques did you use to paint it with?
