Well I currently have limited space so I wouldn’t have been able to get the 885. The 650 has been an absolute champ for me as well. Never ran out of space. I actually haven’t needed to use the top shelf yet. I’m about to do 10kg (22 pounds) of dinosaur ribs aka beef short ribs tomoro and I won’t even be using the top shelf.

I’ll also mention that I live in the UK and the 650 was £1299 ~$1580usd. So I didn’t really want to spend much more than that.

In regards to the tube I got the extendable one which lasts 4 hours when I fill it to 12” and 6 hours when I fill it to 18”.

Sorry for the long write up, just trying to be helpful.

I've always fried turkeys, but this past year I smoked two boneless breast as well and they turned out great. I used the same recipe on the smoked ones that I did on the fried ones.

I'll inject my turkeys the night before and saran wrap then throw back in the fridge. The day off I'll pull out of the fridge and rub down with olive oil and then Cajun seasoning.

For the injection I've always done Cajun Injector Mesquite BBQ

For the rub I use Tony Chacheres Creole Seasoning

Every turkey I've done turns out juicy and moist so I've never bothered to brine mine.

Damn we hit it pretty hard once it was rested... it went really well, I didn’t post pics tho, next time! There’s a book I’d recommend all the recipes work really well and are easy to duplicate...

Paint the stack with some stove paint, and Amazon has the gasket stuff pretty cheap. Worked like a charm on my Traeger.

Hey sorry to revive the dead thread, but I was curious which Maverick thermometer you have? I was really intrigued by the bluetooth smart therms, but I'm starting to think that those won't work as well as something like this.

I’m about to buy a thermopro tp08. Friend has one, works great. It’s just Bluetooth though.

I use these Buddeez Charcoal Storage container.

They fit a 20lb bag of pellets and store nice and neat. Even stackable.

I have a Soraken from Amazon. Comes with 4 probes, upgradable to 6. The range for the Bluetooth is about 25 yards. I have been very happy with it. You can set several alarms, and safe internal temp as are already pre programmed. Amazon price is 50 bucks.

I used a bristle free brush like this

Get the grill good and hot, then dip the brush in water before scrubbing. The steam knocks the baked on stuff loose

I use Buc-cee’s rib and BBQ rub on my brisket and ribs and my family and friend circle like it a lot.

It has the right amount of salt and sugar and it’s only $3 in the restaurant.

People have been using this seal with some success.

Personally, I don't think you'd really gain that much from it.

If the main body is 22" long it's an early model Lil' Tex. Really doesn't make a lot of difference for the digital controller. This one replaces the 3 speed original controller:
