There's an official adapter for up to four gamecube controllers (or eight with two of those but without rumble support) on the switch (since a lot of smb fans love it):

Mayflash offers the same for a quarter of the price:

And they even brought a smb special edition gc controller:

If you already own a gc controller this might be the best option. It's a shame they didn't include some analog triggers in the first place.

A mayflash adapter like this should probably work if a gamecube controller supports analog control, these are good input lag wise.
There's an third party adapter that allows to plug most controllers (I use this https://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Magic-NS-Wireless-Controller-Nintendo/dp/B079B5KHWQ). I can play fortnite with a wired 360 controller. For trials the problem is that the triggers will still be digital, ideally the adapter could remap triggers to a right stick axis with a firmware update but it's not available. At the end of the day, I just decided against the switch version (Xbox one instead), analog triggers are a must have I wish Nintendo understood that.
I'm running on a 970 with an i7 4th gen and I'm getting pretty stable 60. Try plonking this into your computer if you have the money to upgrade, as I've had the game run well on that on another PC.
Also of note, PUBG is more badly optimized on CPU than GPU. I don't know why you'd get stuttering in this game but not in PUBG, the latter stutters for me but this game does not, and I'm running it on pretty high settings.
