With the standard caveats about how not everyone needs what other people need...I see a psychologist (not a psychiatrist), so it's talk therapy and not meds, where the psychological orientation is "interpersonal" (i.e. her goal is to be a functioning interpersonal relationship of mine). I interviewed several with the question "how do you help someone with these problems" and made sure I liked what I heard.

I'm also in a therapy group where all of the members get to try out having feelings with each other and see how they react to each other and how other people react to them. It's pretty hard to sniff out one of those locally, but it's a really valuable way to work on interpersonal stuff.

Books on relationship stuff: You can look at John Gottman's books (here is a cheat sheet) for thoughts on marriage. For stuff like "OMFG my parents taught me nothing" I also used to look at books like this one as well. But I really feel like therapy is the best place for it. It's like going to a personal trainer vs. trying to learn how to work out by yourself at home -- you could probably figure it out on your own, but it's a lot faster if someone shows you the ropes.

I used this $25 lamp for the first few years but I upgraded to this $100 model in 2016 and it’s still going strong. My base and top coats are from Harmony Gelish and I have colors from that brand as well as Red Carpet, CND, and OPI.

Total cost to get going with the less expensive lamp should be about $100. You’ll need basic manicure supplies (clippers, files, orangewood sticks) as well as:

  • base coat, top coat
  • UV lamp
  • isopropyl alcohol
  • acetone
  • polish in a couple colors
  • lint-free wipes

And these things are very nice, but not necessary, additions:

  • fingerless UV protective gloves
  • plastic clips for acetone soaked pads to help with removal (keeps you from going through tons of aluminum foil)
  • a very rough file for using on the surface of the nails to break the top coat before soaking off

I’ll never go back to a nail salon for anything but pedicures. With a little practice, you’ll get the hang of gel polish application. There are tons of YouTube tutorials you can check out. With decent home application, you should be able to get 2 weeks without chips from your manicure.

Oh yes, it can feel exactly like an assault on your body, along with all the symptoms of a serious trauma. The extra sense of vulnerability can bring on a regressive mental state.. meaning you feel like a lost little kid. :( Do things that give you a sense of power.

I'm going to give you a link to a product but not because I profit in anyway. LOL It's one way to return some personal power. https://www.amazon.com/Cheetah-Elite-Force-Stun-Gun/dp/B018PSI9XS

There are also break in prevention tricks that help return your sense of security. Powerful actions are very healing. <3

I've recently switched to all natural skin care. I've used La Mer at $250 per pot and I find the stuff I use now to be just as good and with fewer breakouts and irritation. Here's the moisturizer and retinol I use it that doesn't break the bank and is cruelty-free:

Retinol | Moisturizer.

Here's photo of my skin after using it for a couple weeks

Good luck!

I realize I'm commenting on this 10 days later, but I feel this needs to be shared as a public service: if you don't have one already, get yourself a lighted, magnifying mirror stat. It makes hunting down chin hairs, squeezing blackheads, and other gross skin care stuff (as well as applying makeup) so much easier. I've been very pleased with this one. However, you do need to be prepared for the fact that looking into a lighted, 10X magnifying mirror when you are 35+ is a sobering experience.

Since OP hasn't replied with her chairs, I'll go ahead and share mine. We host our friends pretty regularly for games and movies, and get compliments on how comfy these are at least once every couple months.

u/quietCadence · 1 pointr/TrollXOver30

I mean there still folding chairs but, I think the secret was in the top cushion. :)

I'm encouraging more people to buy this same shirt to make it even more ridiculous of an event.

My niece is seven and my sister still uses her old diaper bag whenever a purse isn't enough.

Edit: I talked to her and it's just a messenger bag she used for diapers. Still, hers has over seven years of almost daily use and is still in great shape. Amazon link.

I highly recommend a TENS unit. It's used in physical therapy and really helped my SI joint/hip pain. This is the one I use and it's great because it has so many attachments you can really get the hip from all sides.

u/TresGay · 3 pointsr/TrollXOver30

Finesse, I think. I'll go check my Amazon history

I was really close. "Finess. I bought some and tried one.
