I super-majorly-insanely recommend the book Rethinking Madness by Dr. Paris Williams. While it doesn't cover tulpas directly (that I remember anyway) it does talk about the failures of traditional psychotherapy and alternate forms of therapy that have been much more successful. Honestly though, I think every human being should read this book.

For everyone interested in learning more about Synchronicity, I recommend checking out Synchronicity: The Art of Coincidence, Choice, and Unlocking Your Mind by Dr. Kirby Surprise (yes, that's his real name, lol).

Yeah, our group has had members integrate in the past, but never on a system-wide basis, and always on the volition of the integrating members--sometimes a new alter surfaces and after the issue they hold is resolved, some of them decide that existing independently isn't their thing.

From what we hear, system-wide integration can work out very well--but only if the whole system's on board with it, and not forced into it by outside factors, and the trauma at the root at it all is being properly addressed and treated. Otherwise, everything just falls apart again down the road. At least in our case, getting away from our abusers and to a safe living situation, tracking and managing our stress levels, organizing the system, processing our trauma symptoms, and so on did a lot more for our functioning than any of our integrations.

We can't tell you which route will ultimately be the best for you, but we will suggest gathering some more perspectives outside the integration-focused ones. You might like this blog by a retired DID therapist--he actually has written a short article arguing against the idea that integration is a marker of success. There's also Sarah K. Reece's blog. Reece was diagnosed with DID and worked through it without integration--this article might be especially interesting, and there's also her organization, the Dissociative Initiative. There's some self-help stuff by and for multiples over at HealthyMultiplicity.com, and some more over at The Crissing Link, though I haven't been able to read the whole thing through. Speaking of which, got parts? is another nice by-and-for-multiples self-help resource, just ignore the annoying foreword at the beginning that wasn't even written by the authors.

I'm also curious, do you get to speak to other plurals often? Especially those who were diagnosed with DID or otherwise became plural because of trauma, but elected to remain plural and work it out. It might be worth connecting to people. The plural community's honestly a shark tank with all the exclusionist bullshit going on, but there's a few quiet but nice places around that I could direct you to.

...wat. She told me "I fucked the maid."

Then she said it was in this book. I've never read that book.

(sorry about editing this, but the wrong tulpa answered when I asked one of them...the one that originally answered was supposed to be asleep in bed...)
