As https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/wiki/newdocks and https://www.reddit.com/r/UsbCHardware/wiki/docks details for two 4k @ 60 hz you must have a Thunderbolt dock and not just a mere USB C dock.

However, there simply doesn't exist a dock with two downstream USB C receptacles supporting DisplayPort Alternate Mode. It just doesn't exist.

But! As https://www.reddit.com/r/UsbCHardware/comments/co23kd/i_have_found_the_mythical_displayport_to_usbc/ shows you can convert a DisplayPort to USB C, it just won't be powered but that's OK for two reasons: a) a 27" 4K monitor is unlikely to be powered from USB C , it will have its own AC adapter b) the 27UK850 is not a strict USB C only monitor, it has a DisplayPort input just fine as https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51RKDFVTpAL._SL1000_.jpg this image shows

The cheapest solution, without a doubt, is https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=27404 this but it only supports two 4k @60 hz monitors and nothing else. This one https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=31261 adds USB A and Ethernet ports. But it doesn't charge.

You will be shocked how much more expensive it gets to add charging. You could either get a dock with two DisplayPorts like https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=36656 or any Thunderbolt dock will do that has a DisplayPort (or HDMI) port and a chaining Thunderbolt port will work because the standard requires that TB3 capable ports support DisplayPort alt mode as well so you can connect that to one of the monitors directly. Others recommended such docks, I won't, really, any will do. While a common recommendation for PCs would be a used Dell TB16 (not the TB15!!) off eBay, it doesn't work with Mac because standards are awesome like that.

Finally if you are OK with plugging two cables anyways, one for charging, one for the monitors then I would just get a USB C to DisplayPort+USB+PD cable like https://smile.amazon.com/Adapter-Charging-Thunderbolt-MacBook-Samsung/dp/B07F9WDS87/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_147_t_0 or Xiaomi has one (I used the latter) and then just connect the second monitor with a USB C to USB C cable. This will be by far the cheapest solution. You will have an USB port from the first cable and two from the second monitor.

Not yet , i haven't seen such a cable, But there is still a solution like other user suggested using an adapter/dongle.
Check the link below, this adapter is OTG enabled, supports both Data sync and Fast charge along with built-in 56k resistor and is wide compatible Plus a good load of Warranty and technical support.

Thanks for the additional details! I am going to go ahead and order the converter chip (the CP14 isn't available for sale until September 20, but the PW-INC1TR seems to be the same thing (right?).

One more "How is that different from this" if you don't mind: this (FIGURE B) seems to convert the 19-pin to a single USB-C port. But I assume it doesn't have any of the active electronics inside that pair together both USB 3.0 5 Gbps ports into a 3.1 Gen 2 10 Gbps port, and the description says "4.8 Gbps" (i.e. 5 Gbps). So that cable would be worse than the CP14 or PW-INC1TR because it doesn't allow the faster speed, right? Anything else I'm not noticing about it which is worse? I do not plan to buy this, but was wondering to help expand my understanding about this subject.

> The speed 5Gbps vs 10Gbps is entirely based on your chipset, nothing to do with pin out.

My motherboard specs says this. The relevant part is AMD B450 chipset: 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 port(s) (2 at mid-board). It sounds like this would fit be compatible with the 10 Gbps, right?

I unfortunately can't follow your advice of getting a PCIe expander because my graphics card fills up the sole PCIe slot in my machine. I also would not call any of this a cosmetic USB-C port, because I have a number of devices that use USB-C and I would like to be able to use them on my PC without adapters. Almost all of them don't use an alternate mode and doesn't require PD, they just do regular data transfer over the nicer/smaller plug. I do have my GPU's VirtualLink USB-C port if I need some of the alternate modes, like for video signal or PD. (I believe it supports most of those things except Thunderbolt 3?)

The only 19 Pin to 20 Pin USBC Front Panel converter we know of

Comined with this:

USBC Front Panel Male to USBC Female

Keep in mind every USBC port contains TWO high speed signal lanes, this will be used for USB 3.2 2x2 20Gbps (When it comes out) and currently used for alt mode.

It's far better to use actual USBC logic / chipset. The above adapter will only give you 900mA, and MAYBE BC1.2 of 1.5A. But a true USBC add in card (AIC) will give you 5V at 3A MINIMUM. a good one can do 9v, 12v,15v,20v all the way up to 20V/5A or 100W. On top of that there is alt modes, protection circuitry, a host of other things.

Just converting USB 3.0 19 Pin headers (2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Ports) into a single front panel USBC gives the MINIMUM functionality. So it's practically pointless. The ONLY thing you are getting, is the ability to use a USBC to USBC Cable. Nothing else. If you are going to spend money, why use the onboard chipset, which is already saturated because you are using the other ports. Faster and better in every way to get a PCIe card.

Use one of these instead:

UGREEN USBC AIC like 20 bucks

This will get you 5V 3A Charging.

If you want full Power Delivery Profiles up to 100W, that's a tough story. Basically these days, people go with Thunderbolt 3 if they want PD 100W. If it's USBC, the only one I know of is OLD, and only works with SATA Express, which has been largely abandoned.

Yes, USB switching needs an active switch, USB 3 even more so. I'm not sure that switching the high speed USB 3 is even possible.

My thoughts about the KVM switch is to use just the USB part and just not connect the monitor part. Just something heap like this cheap KVM

If you really need USB 3, the high speed part, then you are out of luck. If you just want to switch mouse and keyboard and the occasional USB-stick, then this will work.

u/Athletik · 1 pointr/USBC

Interesting. A little difficult to understand why you say thunderbolt cant move into backwards compatibility mode, since thunderbolt 3 says it supports allprevious version of usb 3 and thunderbolt. Maybe I'm not understanding you here. My port has thunderbolt 3, but instead of dumping in 4 lanes, i discovered they only shoved in 2 lane thunderbolt 3. So my max bandwidth there is 20gpbs. That being said, the moment I plug in something like a T5 which can hit 10gbps, I'm assuming you're saying I will still be capped at 5gpps since the usb C port I have only has a max cap at 5gbps. If this is the case, would something like this be able to solve the problem? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PFFN219/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A1AMUYYA3CT6HJ&psc=1

Since it's a TRUE thunderbolt 3 dock with legit 10gbps transfer usb ports around

u/advntrus_mofo · 2 pointsr/USBC

Another good option is CalDigit TS3 Plus Thunderbolt 3 Dock which should give you one some good connectivity options. Hope that fits your budget. You would also have to get a USB-C to DP cable or some thing similar..

Hey u/google_drive_fan11,

This Sandisk seems to have some okay reviews, and those bad ones were contacted by Sandisk support. But I agree with you, the lack of true high quality USB-C 3.1 gen 2 drives is a shame, hopefully if people like you and me buy more USB-C flash drives, the manufacturers will respond to the demand.

That said, If you do get a USB-C drive I'm sure the community here would appreciate a review or any comparisons you can make.

u/Hand_OfTheKing · 1 pointr/USBC

I have this one https://smile.amazon.com/Dell-452-BCYT-D6000-Universal-Black/dp/B071YTQBXM/ and so far it has worked flawlessly with various laptops (Lenovo, Huawei, Dell, Pixelbook) but I sold my MBP before I bought it so I can't confirm that in particular (but comments say it works fine). The best part is that it can also charge the laptop (limited to 65w) while you're using it without having to use a separate power adapter.

u/kill_dano · 1 pointr/USBC

Ohh I suppose this would be what I asked for. Thanks for pointing it out. Was hoping for something smaller, like https://www.amazon.com/AD-ADTRIP-Headphone-Splitter-Compatible/dp/B07KSZMG5J/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=usb+c+splitter&qid=1569435401&sr=8-4

But instead of being audio only, being a full featured port.

I'll consider getting it anyways, tho.

u/Nawlo · 2 pointsr/USBC

Why not use something like this and just use an HDMI cable?

There are lots of options like this out there.

If you need something with a built in charger this is the one I use at home for my pixelbook.

60W+ charger is fine as long as it is well built.
