If you commonly get pizza orders (or even like taking once home yourself now and then, too) I'd recommend picking up a pizza bag like this one on Amazon I've had it for several months and it's quite nice.

I used a small dry sack (something like this) for a while. You can wear it over your wrist like a watch when carrying a drink. That worked really well as you can absorb any shocks very easily.
Don't waste your money on a bag with their logo. Buy something off Amazon like this for $5 after shipping, or pick something up locally at a department store.
No reason to spend extra money. You could also sign up for other services that send you free bags, and use those.

I'm old school and log my miles by writing. There really aren't any tips, it's really as simple as just keeping track of how many miles from when you start to when you stop. The logs I use are below, you can get one at Office Depot or Staples as well for a couple bucks more. The only advice I have is to diligently keep mileage records, they are huge when you file your tax returns.

Edit: I do the standard deduction instead of itemized deductions so I don't keep receipts, just track mileage.
I secure the sliders by placing small binder clips at the end of the zipper teeth. You can probably use heavy duty staples or something similar too. I use these for smaller orders: NZ Home Insulated Bags and these for larger ones: Restaurant Supply Insulated Bags. Yeah, they cost money but they last and will pay for themselves in tips in a short time.
