By making things and putting them on GitHub, and then you can link to your GitHub portfolio on LinkedIn. Any company worth working for will care more about the quality of your work than your certifications.

If you're asking how to learn programming in the first place, it has never been more accessible! There are countless books and guides out there for any topic imaginable. So what I told apprentices at the last company I worked was, start by reading Clean Code by Bob Martin, to get a feel for the mindset with which to approach programming.

And from there, just start making stuff-- 'Breakable Toys' we call them. After print("Hello World") the first thing I made was an unbeatable tic-tac-toe game, and then a bunch of other random stupid stuff before I learned to do anything interesting or marketable.

OPINIONATED STATEMENT ALERT: You must make your first project in Elm! :) it's by far the most beginner-friendly language I've ever worked with, and really just an overall delight (even for non-beginners). Even though it's not the most marketable language right now, it's the best intro you could have into programming, and will give you a great foundation to learn other languages!

Edit: Also worth looking into apprenticeship opportunities. The only well-known one I can recommend in good faith is 8th Light's which I believe is free until they start paying you-- so a better deal than college I would say! Thankfully, many smaller local businesses are starting to embrace the apprenticeship model as well, so keep those opportunities on your radar.

These people are freaking ridiculous and aren't giving you realistic answers.

Finding a place to live, even if it cuts into 50% of your monthly income, is simply living the struggle life. By these responses, most people in here probably have had very little struggle in their lives.

Now if you're going to do this, you have to be empirical in how you spend and leverage your funds. For example, have you assessed how much you pay in mandatory expenses? Are utilities included? Will you be paying for internet? How much is your cellphone bill? Do you drive, and if so, how much is your car insurance? How much do you spend on food during the day/week/month? All of these have to be taken into consideration.

After allocating all of your extraneous monthly expenses, add that to the total cost of rent and subtract that number from your gross income. (gross income) - (rent + expenses) That's how much money you'll have as discretionary income.

When doing this, the goal is to reduce your expenses down to as little as possible, while finding ways to increase your income as much as possible. You'll come to realize that little things you take for granted, like spending $7 a day here and there on food, can add up significantly. For example, $7 a day for 30 days is $210. Do you really need that giant juice for $5 when you can drink water out of your brita filter for a fraction of the cost? Want flavored water? There's many cheap flavor-drop options that can be stretched for a very long time. Do you have to eat out all the time when you can prepare your own food and have it dispersed out for days? Here's a video that shows how to do just that. Also, invest in a vacuum sealer! A slightly high one time expense but will dramatically increase the flavor and shelf-life of your food. Do you take public transportation a lot? Use a bicycle instead! I've saved thousands in public transportation costs over the course of years by just doing this. Plus it's hella fun. And in NYC, particularly between brooklyn and manhattan, it's faster than any other mode of transportation when comparing to car, train, or bus.

As you many intuitively know, the goal is upward mobility. And I know you'll do whatever it takes to win and succeed! You'll do well my friend!

Sorry, got busy for the holidays.

It seems like you're falling victim to the same cycle that a lot of us have. You can't get a job without experience, but you can't get experience without a job. It doesn't make a ton of sense.

Google/Amazon/Uber rely heavily on data structure and algorithm knowledge in their interviews. I have the first edition of this book for JS data structures. I went through it and coded all of them out. It helps to understand them.

In my master's program, I had a class on algorithm design that in hindsight, I wish I had paid more attention to. We used this book but I think there are better ones available now.

I have this book as a general interview reference which may summarize the above two suggestions better for the interviews.

Time/space complexity was also helpful information to know. Big O notation is a useful thing to have in your arsenal to begin with.

These are just suggestions for notorious interviews for infamous tech companies. Not every company is going to grill you about these concepts. But having been someone who has failed several intense programming interviews, and now conducts them for our company, I think all of this information is applicable, and a true tech company likely won't grill you about job experience if you can apply these concepts on a whiteboard without thinking about it.

Data Science is a great spot to be in right now. Spend a little time every day applying some programming principles to big datasets. It should be enough to land you a job at a solid company if even at an entry-level position.

Also, get out of AngularJS and learn Angular 2+. React/React Native also seem to be in high demand. They have become commonplace at most large companies trying to stay on the edge of technology for their users.

In a river should do. However, you absolutely MUST make sure that it is at least 5 metres deep. You can do this by dropping in a marked rope with a heavy weight at the bottom (e.g. a stone).

Alternatively, dig a hole. However, you must make sure that it is in a secluded place. Also, when covering the body with dirt, grow grass over it if in a grassy area. This minimises the chances of it being found.

As for what to wear, have a pair of gloves handy. I would personally recommend some nice gardening gloves like these. These are necessary in order to avoid leaving finger prints on the body, in the case of it being found. Also, wear some shoes that do not make noise.

I would recommend moving the body in the night and avoiding other people. Just in case you are seen, keep the body in a camping bag or suitcase. Try not to be seen by security cameras.

In the event of being noticed by security cameras or other people, dump ALL visible clothing worn on the night into the sea or a deep river. Again, do NOT leave fingerprints.

This small guide should set you up quite nicely.

DISCLAIMER: I am not in fact a murderer. This was just a joke that I took waaaay too far. It took me a while, so I’m gonna post it anyway.

Wow. From $21,000 to $12.99. This should be on r/UnethicalBestOf or something.

I'm proud of how much money we've saved this hypothetical-unethical poor person. I just hope he doesn't get diabetes from all this free fast food he'll be getting.

EDIT: turns out r/UnethicalBestOf wasn't even a real thing, but I went ahead and created it, that's how proud I am.

You are actually on to something. I've been a filmworker for decades. The few times I have ever brought friends/family to a set, they were always most impressed by the food. We are spoiled. The food overall is fantastic -- stuff I would pay a lot for in a restaurant.

The key is the walkie headset. You can get a cheap one on Amazon.

Chances are, no one will even check to see if it's actually plugged into a radio or not. They will just accept you as one of them.

EDIT: A belt with a small pouch, or a fannypack, anything like that will probably seal the deal. It doesn't even need to have anything in it.

People come and go. Positions are filled with "day-players" when someone can't show up. No one really questions a new person on set for the most part.

I live in the hot South. You don't even need the Patagonia here, just shorts and a tee shirt.

This is the bag here. It fits 2 changes of clothes, my laptop, snacks, water bottle and has a side pocket good for shoes or separating shoes or dirty clothes and 4 netting pockets on the outside as well. Fits perfectly under the seat and allows me to grab anything without having to pull it out. Been using mine for 6 years now and love it

I have the m50, so no detachable cord, and they are still treating me well to this day. I eventually upgraded and my new set has velour ear pads, which are awesome. Even though my m50s don't get as much use anymore, I got some replacement pads for them and it was like getting a whole new set of headphones. So much comfier, no more getting sweaty by wearing them too long, and they have a slightly improved soundstage imo by adding these new pads. Might be worth checking out, they're only $20 right now.

Thumbs up on The Guide to Getting It On! I bought my copy in the early oughts and it's fantastic. It's the book that people most often look at on my bookshelf and then gift them at the next opportunity.

I was talking about this

I think bluetooth adapters are a bit more than the $5 the person above said. I got mine for $20 and it works great with the high speed mode in torque. I'm sure you can find a china special for $5-10. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005NLQAHS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

> Dubia roaches

Amazon answers to a question:

> Q: will these dubia roaches lay babies nimfs dubia roaches
> A: yes, it takes time but they reproduce.

Someone else from a review (on the same page):

> These arrived alive, but unlike the previous colony I had (not from here) these never reproduced at all.

And someone else with a contradictory answer:

> They started reproducing almost immediately. I’ll have a decent colony for my lizards this winter

Googling "can dubia roaches reproduce" the top answer:

> Dubia roaches are “ovo-viviparous”, meaning that the egg sac (called an “ootheca”) is stored in the female's body. When the eggs hatch, they exit the female's body as small, 1/8” nymphs. In order to ensure breeding, a Dubia roach colony must consist of both adult males and females.

I think they can reproduce.

I've been using Pilot Frixion Erasable Pens for years. They're quite useful and I highly recommend them for everyday writing.

Good to know. Is this a good option?

u/monkeywelder · 4 pointsr/UnethicalLifeProTips

Its on the you tubes, Youll need a bnc male and a bnc female twist on connector and a thin wire cutter stripper like this https://www.amazon.com/Stripper-Stranded-Klein-Tools-1003/dp/B000V6W5QU/ref=sr_1_29?crid=1ESPB45V40HUJ&keywords=wire%2Bcutter%2Bstriper&qid=1564051442&s=gateway&sprefix=wire%2Bcutter%2Bstr%2Caps%2C348&sr=8-29&th=1 You can use scissors but as someone who has done probably 50000 reconnects this is what we use.

You can get all of these at HD, LOWES, maybe even walmart.

The hardest part is peeling back the layers to get it ready youll trim the outer layer back an inch, then pull the shielding back over that. then with the little notch on the cutters trim the core insulation back about 1/2 an inch leaving 1/2 inch of the core wire exposed. Then twist the connectors on, wrap with e-tape. connect them together.

There are tons of videos on youtube. and references on cutting the coax.

Sometimes, there's nothing that you can do. I've been in your situation and it fucking sucks

However, look into white, brown and pink noise. I bought a noise machine and honestly, it's one of the best purchases I've made. Not sure if this will get buried but heres the link
