If you want to learn how to fly drones, start with one that doesn't have FPV. This way you'll know how to fly it if your monitor goes out.

I recently got the "UDI U818A". It's a great learner, easy to fly and takes crashes well. It's around 16 inches diagonally, so a little big for indoors. That's never stopped me though. You can get one on Amazon for around $50 usd.

A smaller option is the "Hubsan X4". I haven't flown this particular quad, but I'm probably going to order one this week. It has great reviews, and is only about 6 inches across diagonally. Great for indoors. Again, Amazon has them for around $50 $30 usd.

I suggest starting with one of these. Get good, then move up to something more expensive with FPV.

Edit: Links and such

UDI U818A $49.23 + Free Shipping

Hubsan X4 H107L (no camera) $33.95

Hubsan X4 H107C (camera) $29.99 + Free Shipping

Do some digging and look for deals. You may be able to find cheaper prices. I got my U818A for $28 + Free Shipping on a Lightning Deal.

Its basically a book about Zen and similar philosophies. There are however some funny scenes in it like that one, because one of the principles is that a warrior should fully embrace not only death but life, which includes finding joy in the smallest things. The idea is that a "peaceful warrior" is one who lives life to the fullest with integrity and honor. Similar to /r/stoicism in a way actually.

The first book (linked below) was far better than the second IMO but they are both good.

With my therapist, we worked through The Grief Recovery Handbook. It requires a LOT of introspection, and I had to do some pretty painful soul searching, but it was very much worth it. It MUST be done in order- don’t skip to the end since the last assignment won’t have as much weight. It actually reaches into every kind of loss in your life (loss of childhood, loss of relationships, ect.,) and I made some unexpected personal breakthroughs as buried memories came to light.

If you’re dedicated you don’t necessarily need a therapist, but they really, really stress having someone else to go through it with you in your personal life. There’s a lot of stuff you need to share out loud, and it makes a huge difference in your recovery. If you don’t have someone you’re comfortable sharing difficult emotions with IRL, a therapist would be a great choice. I know a lot of them use this, and it’s probably something you could call around and ask.

The book is very practical and matter-of-fact, which I needed. I’m not a fan of spiritual mushy-gushy stuff, if that makes sense!! It’s homework that really changes things.

I’m so sorry for your losses- that’s too much for anyone to bear. I hope this book can help bring you peace like it brought us.

I used to think that too, but don't give up on yourself! I would certainly believe that art comes easier to some people than others, but you can learn to draw better. I recommend the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, which has really excellent exercises aimed at people who have always considered themselves bad at art, interspersed with pop neuroscience that you should mostly ignore.

I've thought of myself as incapable of drawing well, and went through it a few years ago. This is me drawing without a reference beforehand, this is me drawing my own hand beforehand, and this is me drawing my own hand after a couple months of practice.

They make step stools with handles for balance that would be perfect for this guy.

There are other variations with folding handles and 2 steps available. The best selection will be from a durable medical supply company online but the cheapest prices will usually be Amazon.

I gotta say, he’s putting his safety and physical well-being before his pride and ego so I applaud him and his step stool. It’s a wise move.

Gamecubes clock at 3.25A. Let's say this nominal is not very accurate and give it a whopping 50% inefficiency. So we stand at 4.875A, rounding up to 5A. If you only play half an hour a day, that means you leave it on unnecessarily 23.5 hours a day, or 8583.375 hours a year (assuming a year with 365.25 days). Remembering it pulls energy from a 110V source, but actually converts it to 12V, it has an "effective" potency of 60W (since we already added a 50% inefficiency factor on the current).

Now all we need to do is multiply those two numbers to get roughly 515 kWh of energy spent in a year. I don't really know a lot about US electricity prices, but this source gave me an average of 13.01 cents per kWh. So you'd be spending pretty much 67 dollars per year of doing that.

I'm gonna take an educated guess and say a 16MB memory card for the gamecube was 20 bucks at the time. If you plan on keeping it on for less than 109 days, it is actually cheaper to not buy the memory card. There are disadvantages, sure, like only having one save of one game and the possibility of losing everything due to a power outage. But hey, it is an alternative. Maybe paying those 20 bucks over the course of 109 days is actually better than just shelling it out up front, depending on the financial situation of the family.

The small one that OP has is pretty expensive because its a custom built one. You can get a small, FPV one, like this to start with. If you like it and like the FPV, then you can start moving up in the world. You want to start with a cheaper one to make sure you even like it because, like any hobby, it becomes a money hole.

The 1080 is an expensive graphics card, like $700 expensive. The premise of the video is that he is somehow stuck inside some vertical silo while holding the card. Like a monkey who gets his hand trapped because he refuses to let go of the prize, the man is trapped and unable to climb out because he refuses to let go. He foolishly values the material object more than his own life. Then his friend says that he has just received a better graphics card, at which point he agrees to let go and walks up the wall thanks to sideways gravity. Turns out the camera is just turned sideways and he's lying down in a drain pipe. He's not actually stuck in a silo with a computer part, it's just a cool forced perspective optical illusion with a storyline that's a modern twist on an old tale. That's the joke.

I, too, had Maxell tapes loaded with songs from the Dr. D show. I remember pushing 'record' just as each song was starting on the radio, and if it turned out to be one I already had (or didn't like) I'd rewind the tape a few seconds to be ready for the next song. 80's technology!

I also had one or two of the Dr. Demento's Greatest Novelty Records of All-Time albums, but they're long gone—as is my vinyl Dare to be Stupid.

Speaking of DtbS, Weird Al is writing children's books now. They're really good, and if you have kids I highly recommend them. Sick brag: we actually see him every now and then at REDACTED. He's super-cool and doesn't have an ounce of ego in him. I told him about staying up late to listen to Dr. Demento and he told me that he used to do the same thing. It reminded me that he was really young when he started doing his parody songs.

EDIT: Good lord. Dr. Demento is still alive and hosting his (now-online) show.

White Trash: The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America

This book is great and helped me realized we've always been like this, we were designed to be like this and we will continue to be like this.

I do want to point out, it's actually perfectly fine to cook on some rocks. I have a raclette grill I use in my living room which is made of granite, it's great for dinner and a movie.

This is what I found, I hope it answers your question!

1 cat power is approximately 0.343 hp and a 189 hp car would be about 551.13 in cat power.

EDIT: To clarify, 1 hp is not the power output of 1 horse. The average horse can output about 14.9 hp.

Now the fun begins.

THE SETUP

This video depicts a man standing in a wagon pulled by 5 cats on a local street. The average weight of a man is 70 kg according to this. The wagon's wheels appear to be rubber and the rolling coefficient of friction between rubber and concrete is between 0.35 to 0.45 and so I used the value of 0.4. The wagon looked similar to this one, which has a weight of 2.47 lbs = 1.12 kg. The weight of the whole cart system and the normal force is thus, 71.12 kg which equals 697.69 N on Earth. I'm going to assume that the system is moving at constant velocity and so the force of the 5 cats pulling is equal to the force of the friction. A dash on a highway is 10 ft = 3.048 m and slowing the video down and timing the dude, I got his speed to be about 4.58 m/s.

THE MATH

Force of friction = coefficient of friction x normal force = 279.07 N

Force of friction = pull force of all 5 cats = 297.07 N

Power exerted by all cats = force x velocity = 297.07 x 4.58 = 1279.13 W

Power of 1 cat = power of all cats / 5 = 255.83 W

1 hp = 746 W & 1 cat power = 255.83 W -> cat power/hp = 0.343

189 hp = 140994 W -> 140994 W = 551.13 cat power

That's like hugging my Chihuahua...

Look!
If you had one shot.
Or one opportunity.
To seize everything you ever wanted.
In one moment would you capture it.
Or just let it slip?

>more amazing how people right next to them can’t take there eyes off the screen

Walker Percy points out that our tendency to look for ourselves in photographs, look in mirrors as we pass, etc, comes not from narcissism but from the fact that we spend our whole lives living in a subjective reality, so we are naturally fascinated by the experience of observing ourselves in a somewhat objective manner.

It looks like he is wearing the FatShark Dominator v2/v3 goggles (not sure which).

The drone appears to be an Inductrix FPV. EDIT: it could also be a 3d printed model similar to the Inductrix... but it does appear to be very similar

This is a very popular combo for practicing FPV flying indoors apparently

There was one verified review:

> I purchase this knife on Amazon. When the knife arrived I opened the package . Most of the blades were in the open position. I thought "This is a cool knife" . I closed the knife blades and was shocked to discover that a couple of the blades were longer then the body of the knife and stuck out precariously ready to slice open any finger or body part that dare come within striking distance. What is worse is that the sharp edge of the knife blade sticks right up against a metal bolster that is in perfect position to put a large knick right in the blade. I called Wenger and asked if this was the way that they intended to make the knife or if it was a defect in which the assembler possibly put the blades in the wrong channel . I was told that this knife was a "display piece" and was never intended to be functional. Well that is all well and good but then please inform the buyer as to this fact and don't produce a marketing video that shows the many uses of the knife. I purchased this knife as a gift for a collector friend and I realize that 99% of collector knives will be locked away in a safe and never used but the difference is, a quality custom OR production tool is at least functional. That is the beauty of a tool. Wenger should be ashamed of ever letting this worthless piece of dangerous scrap metal ever leave the factory. Anyone involved in this project should be fired. The cheapest far East knife factory would never let something like this leave the door. And this is Swiss made? . I have to cringe at the thought of a product liability Attorney flashing pictures of this "Closed" knife after it slices off somebodies finger. Needless to say I sent it back to Amazon WITH A WARNING

The minicopter is most likely the Inductrix FPV.

You can get them standalone for around $80-90 and with a controller for a bit more.

Standalone: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYZ2KI1/ref=psdc_11608080011_t3_B01M0FW1ZZ

With controller and a screen:

As for the FPV goggles I think he is using a very expensive FatShark Dominator that is around $450 on amazon. You can go much cheaper though. I have the FatShark Predator which was around $200-230 and you can go cheaper than that.

I can't really see what type of controller he is using but probably something similar to a Spektrum. They are around $100-$300 depending on what you want. You don't really need an expensive controller for a little minicopter though.
