Hey, thanks for linking to my story! I pride myself on trying to be accurate, but if you're interested, I highly recommend Dan DeLuca's book The Old Leatherman. Dan did a tremendous amount of research, collecting original newspaper accounts from the time.
It's a fascinating story.

Petition to improve documentation of missing people in the US#
"To Heidi Streetman, who conducts graduate teacher-training courses and classes on research methods at Regis, and also teaches at the University of Colorado Denver's ESL Academy, the need for such a resource is clear. As such, she's created a petition entitled "Make the Department of Interior Accountable for Persons Missing in Our National Parks & Forests.
"I started this petition because there is no legal requirement that federal records be kept of the circumstances surrounding a person's disappearance, whether or not remains or belongings are recovered, or if a person is located alive and well," Streetman writes via e-mail. "This should all be a matter of public record, but it is not. When researchers or family members request records that are sometimes kept, land administrators have stymied requests, claiming it would cost upwards of hundreds of thousands of dollars to produce such records, due to manpower issues and costs of copies. This is in spite of Freedom of Information Act guarantees that federal records are open to the public.
If a searchable public database of those missing on federal land is required to be kept, by our government, I am hoping it will raise awareness of who is missing and where," she adds. "It will encourage those with skills to do so, to continue searching for those missing. It will provide the public with information about areas they may be visiting so they can make intelligent choices about their own safety and well-being. Hot spots where many people are missing can be identified and investigated, and families of the missing can have the solace of knowing that others are aware of and possibly still searching for their loved ones."
Dale Stehling's Disappearance and the Need to Track People Who Vanish on Federal Land - FEBRUARY 6, 2015.
It will about 2 years to get to 10,000 signatures if it continues to get an average of 5 signatures per day, while a petition about renaming of Yosemite landmarks has 114,113 signatures. News signs, etc, for landmarks would cost a lot of money. But the missing persons documentation petition is at least equally important, and has less than 10% of the signatures the other petition has.

Please read before you claim this is fake news again without anything to back up your claims. It's so childish and so harmful to unsolved cases. I'm done with this conversation because there's too much to say and too little time.
Have a good night friend.
Yes! This case has always fascinated me. I need to read this book
Read this: http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Mountain-Untold-Dyatlov-Incident/dp/1452112746 it is a very good book. The author thoroughly examines and reexamines all the evidence, consults the experts and provides reasonable explanation. And, unlike his collegue-writers, tackling the incident he doesn't end up with explanations like aliens, super-soldiers or inter-dimensional soviet experiments.
I read this book about the case way back when. The author, Scott Maruna, an Illinois native, did a ton of research on this story and presents a very educated, informed and logical case for the identify of the Gasser. Not everyone will agree, naturally, but the circumstantial evidence he presented was quite strong.
This is a really excellent read:

Do you just install that in your computer some how ? I am an idiot when it comes to technology like this , thanks 🙏
The book 'dont go there' by a russian journalist who has done a lot of work on the case makes a very plausible case that the local indigenous people were responsible, forcing the students to leave the tent at gunpoint as they were camping in a sacred area

Shoutout to the "UFO Files"
I watched it about 10 minutes ago and here are my thoughts. SPOILER ALERT. Duh.
Also it seems like the Des Moines police were sticking to the party line, as were the FBI. Most enforcement agencies do not throw each other under the bus and can be treated harshly for talking out of turn.
I don't think it's a conspiracy, more just the thin blue line at work.
Not to mention the information that came out of his interviews led to the house in the woods with the carved initials etc. He had so much information that honestly made sense and he also had no reason to seek her out, he clearly got no pleasure out of seeing her. He actually seemed genuinely upset and guilty.
If he were returning to 'that life' and the people involved in those rings, or living rough as a teen - he may have met a bad end after that. OR he's actually alive and just keeping a low profile in order to protect himself / his family.
Potentially he could have contacted Noreen again and as she's not been under oath since, she may keep her silence / be keeping her silence.
The The Franklin Scandal: A Story of Powerbrokers, Child Abuse & Betrayal and also there is The Franklin Cover-up: Child Abuse, Satanism, and Murder in Nebraska which were referenced in this documentary.
