26ga kanthal

Cotton

Screwdriver set

Ohm reader

Velocity clone by tobecco

Pliers

That's about $60 bucks after shipping, and gets you pretty much everything you need.

You can opt for higher quality things. There's some great coil jig sets out there for about $15, which basically make coils for you. Theres higher quality cotton, better kanthal but this is a good basic setup. It's what I use, at least.

You'll see a lot of people vouching for the velocity clone, its a great RDA with a lot of room to build on.

As far as what mod you want? That's tough. That's a whole other conversation. I can tell you what I use, and what I like about them, though.

I use a Sigelli 150 TC, it's a dual 18650 box mod with temp control, I have two Samsung 25r's that have been "married" since I got them, and live in my mod. My Velocity usually sits on top of it. I use this set up at home, and try new builds on it.

My on the go set up is a Smok xcube mini box mod single 18650, with a royal hunter mini on top. I make sure to build around .3 to .4 on this set up, and stay in a safe range for the single battery. Using an online ohms law calculator, I'm vaping a .38 build at 40 watts. Which is drawing 10a from my battery that's rated for 20a.

Kanthal is typically used and will be your most commonly seen wire. I only know of Gplat as an alternative (I used it... not worth the price increase IMO) I get mine from Amazon, I originally started with 28 gauge, then a buddy let me borrow his 26 gauge, that was good too. I purchased some 24 gauge and it drains my batteries hard (which is why I want a dual box mod.)

Yes, a mod is the housing. Then you will need your atomizer and battery.

I started dripping with the IGO-w atty with the Smok Magneto Mod. Biggest problem I had with it is it was small and i had to drill the air holes. I still use the Magneto.

I would never suggest tank anything. I tried both the genuine and the clone russian 91% and it was a terrible experience.

So, for a beginner getting into dripping I would suggest these parts:

[Plum Veil Atomizer] (http://www.eciggity.com/plume-veil-clone-by-tobeco/) (Note! I have not bought anything from this site.)

ANY single battery 18650 mechanical mod. They all realistically do the same thing. RipTrippers.com does a lot of reviews, they should be able to point you in the right direction. I do however suggest one with a magnetic fire button instead of spring. (It will lower resistance and last longer because springs are weaker than magnets)

Atleast 2 [18650 Sony batteries] (http://www.myvaporstore.com/SONY_VTC5_18650_2600mAh_Battery_Flat_Top_30A_p/sny65026-f.htm)

Charger I chose the two battery one for money purposes but I suggest the 4 since it's only like $5 more and can charge a myriad of batteries

[These clamp things] (http://www.amazon.com/5-5-KELLY-Hemostat-FORCEPS-Straight/dp/B000QWK174/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1414788271&sr=8-6&keywords=medical+clamps) makes building much easier

I use these but a lot of people use nailclippers

[Wire] (http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Lightning-Vapes-Kanthal-Resistance/dp/B00JVXVKB0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1414788396&sr=8-2&keywords=28+gauge+kanthal+wire) either 28 or 26 gauge is what I would recommend.

Cotton Balls

[Ohm Tester] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MBNCOMG/ref=s9_simh_gw_p328_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0J7AHRP45YSC4DHAS7DB&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846)

Drill bits, allen keys or screwdriver to wrap coils around (i usually use Allen Keys)

Another Screwdriver for you builds

Tweezers are nice for accurate adjustments

Some people suggest a torch.... it's a waste of money for most builds. The main idea behind them is they are used to burn off any chemicals on the wire... but when you are done building you just fire it a few times before you put cotton in them and it does the same thing. Some builds need a more flexible wire... that is the only time you will need it.

Note: I 100% support the use of Clones, especially when you are starting out your vape life. They save so much money and do an adequate (if not better) job of most authentics.

Sounds like you've done your homework ...

Here are my two cents:

I'd say skip the mechanical mods all together ... it almost seems pointless to me when you can get some really nice high wattage regulated mods for cheap.

If you are wanting to buy a whole new rig I'll link what I am using as my daily carry below.

Cana Modz DNA 30watt box mod - $68.99

Kayfun Nano (clone) - $29.95

Sony VTC4 battery - $12.95

28g Kanthal A1 resistance wire for my coil - $5.45

I use organic cotton for my wick which you can get at almost any drug store on the planet.

I love my setup and for just a little over $100 in total you really can't go wrong with it ... I haven't smoked an analog in over 8 months.

Hope that helps, feel free to ask me any questions you might have.

I bought a bag of this recently and it's amazing. I have no break in period and the flavor is amazing. If you search you can find it under $10 on amazon. I have also used Koh Gen Do cotton. It had a day or two break in time, but was great after that.

Between the two I prefer the MUJI, for the lack of a break in period and it roles great with the scottish role method.

Flush Cut Wire Cutters

Miniture Multi-drive Set

Battery Cases Never transport cells naked, especially near change/keys.

Also, I would highly suggest getting 9 batteries, I keep one set on the charger, one in the mod and one in the cases fully charged as a backup. I picked up those cases, specifically sol I could color code my battery sets, helps keep them together.

If you don't want to mess with building your own coils, I've recently started using these pre-built coils and I absolutely love em. I'd built a few claptons on my own, but frankly it was a lot more time than I wanted to mess with sometimes. They are pretty decent quality, they are all machine built so they are perfectly uniform and they make a quick coil change reletively painless.

u/MessingerofDeath · 2 pointsr/Vaping101

Using an Alien with a Goon and SS 316L claptons, core 26 gauge and wraps 36 gauge with 6/7 wraps at 3mm diameter. Tons of vapor and flavor. Only downside is that it goes through tons of liquid. I also think simple 24 gauge SS coils are great, and still produce a good amount of vapor and flavor.

I don't really like the bridge posts on the Goon-they provide a ton of space for building, but it takes me way longer to make sure a build is just right because it is so easy to jostle a coil out of place when everything is unscrewed. I think velocity style decks are way better for building on, but that's just me. However, the positives of the Goon make up for that issue, and it is my daily use RDA.

Here is the cotton I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N7E9YYO/ref=pd_aw_sim_194_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7WBX7QXC21Q5SP3EJHZY

u/boomincali · 1 pointr/Vaping101

The DOG3 doesn't come with any coils, as far as I can remember. It does come with extra screws/o-rings.

If you're planning on building your own coils, I highly suggest looking up some videos on youtube. I learned from watching Grimm Green's videos about 3-4 years ago on how to do dual coils and have been happy with them to this day. It's nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

You can get your supplies at https://www.lightningvapes.com/

Don't buy spools of wire that's more than 10 dollars anywhere else... You're getting ripped off.

I would recommend you try using 316l stainless steel wire. Especially since you're thinking of getting an rx200, which is a temp control mod. Stainless steel can do temp control (tc) or wattage mode so you can play with those two modes and see what you like. I started with wattage mode since tc wasn't around yet but have since been doing tc and haven't looked back.

Also, go to this site http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp

It's a calculator to see how many loops you'll want in a coil to get your desired level.

You got the wire and the calculator, now you'll need some wicking material. I personally use japanese cotton. I use https://www.amazon.com/ORGANIC-Cotton-Makeup-Puff-Medium/dp/B000TCD51A/ref=sr_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1484118018&sr=8-8&keywords=japanese+cotton

This one pack will last you for more than a year once you get a hang of things. Don't get ripped off and buy them in smaller packs. I've seen b&m stores selling repackaged cotton for 2-5 dollars.

You might need a wire cutter if you don't already have one handy. I've been using this for 3 years now and it still works like new. https://www.amazon.com/Hakko-CHP-170-Stand-off-Construction-21-Degree/dp/B00FZPDG1K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1484118170&sr=8-3&keywords=wire%2Bcutter&th=1

You can also search for mini screw driver sets to wrap your wire around to make your coils. I bought mine at walmart for 5 dollars.

You'll also need tweezers. I've been using ceramic tweezers from lightening vapes, which I linked above. Aside from that, you should be ready to rock. Oh, and get an ohm reader. That might come in handy to check your work.

If you have any other questions, just PM me. I know how scary it is to play with wires/electricity and crap if you're not comfortable with them.

u/AFlockofTurtles · 2 pointsr/Vaping101

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. The TOBH is the RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer) and the Kayfun is a RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer). The dripper you drip drops into it and the RTA has a tank. On both of these you would build your coils and wick them with whatever you choose whether cotton, eco wool, rayon, etc..

The nitecore charger is probably the best charger under $20 from what I've tried.

As for a Ohm reader I actually use a multimeter since I can't check the resistance of my rebuildables and the voltage of my batteries plus some other things around home.
INNOVA 3300 Hands-free Digital Multimeter (10 MegOhm) by Innova http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001O1X65A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_qTy8tb0YVJTAA

Finally between the vtc 4 and 5 the mAH difference is 500 mAH. The 5 is the newest one from Sony and a little bit more. I personally went with the VTC 4 from ilumn with the coupon code ispower shipping essentially was free.

If anything doesn't make sense or still need more explanation let me know it's a bit late here so my sentences may not be as clear as usual. Also the two rebuildable are in my opinion the best and shouldn't be taken as fact.

u/kretik · 1 pointr/Vaping101

Not much to add to an excellent setup. I find that long-term the hardest part is to find the juice you really like, because the gear generally tends to be good if you go for what most people are using. I'd only add one of these which are a godsend when wicking. Vape on!

u/scoffsyrup · 3 pointsr/Vaping101

How shaky are your hands? Mine tremble constantly. I like to think it's slight, but it's noticeable enough that people pick up on it. There are a lot of things in my house that are all wobbly because I can't properly screw them back together after taking them apart. That said, I've seen enough posts from people who had "hand issues" of some sort, and were able to successfully rebuild protank heads that I feel okay taking a stab at it. I ordered some kanthal on eBay last night, and will let you know how it goes once it arrives.

I'm going to try a drill bit, but I've seen a lot of people recommend the the Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo ( http://www.amazon.com/Artistic-Wire-Coiling-Deluxe-Jewelry/dp/B0068RQ85K/ ). Wrapping around something immobile may make it easier for you.

u/dePeatrick · 1 pointr/Vaping101

I picked up an Intillicharger about 3 yrs ago after some looking around, still working fine...can't remember how much I paid for it but was on a budget and was pleasantly surprised how affordable it was.

This was the one.... Price here Under 20 bucks :)

u/6745408 · 3 pointsr/Vaping101

Take a look at these links:

u/rubermnkey · 3 pointsr/Vaping101

you can try using these this way, to boost up one you like or to just make your own. the mega menthol from aqua vapor is pretty good.

u/schwack · 3 pointsr/Vaping101

My setup is a little unique because I tend to go a little overboard on e-liquids and tanks. I've gone through about 5 or 6 mods since I've started vaping, and have been content with clearomizer setups for a while now. Although with the new Kanger Subtank i picked up, I'm anxious to get into building RDA's.

This is the case I got for Christmas, and the price is good. The thing I like about most is it's toughness and removable foam. The whole inner bottom half of the case has foam installed like a grid. You just remove only the squares you want to make the case cater to your setup. I generally take the case with me anytime I hang out with my vaping buddies, or when I'm vaping at the stores.
Here are some pics of my humble setup. http://imgur.com/AedGGwv , http://imgur.com/rEtlzfS , and http://i.imgur.com/Q1MBbBs.jpg

I keep a couple juices in there, always have spare coils for my setup and for friends who may need one in a pinch, a spare tank to switch up my flavors, and batteries if I so desire. I've seen a lot of people who are really into rebuilding use tackle boxes for a similar purpose. I just preferred the toughness and flexibility of this one.

u/PCjabber · 6 pointsr/Vaping101

Dude, that thing looks awesome.

And (somehow) Amazon can get one to me Saturday if I order it in the next 12 hours! Damn their near-instant gratification; it makes me impulse buy so much stuff :-D

u/dbasket · 1 pointr/Vaping101

Im looking at the I4 and some LG batteries

I'll eventually get into rebuilding, but for now I want a system with pre-built coils that are trustworthy and affordable; so Im looking at the TVF4 mostly. The Quad Coil seems to have the best performance but it doesn't list what metals the coils are made of. Because of that I may just get the stainless steal low ohms coils. I'm emailing Smok to get more info now

u/ButteringToast · 1 pointr/Vaping101

/u/kasumiwave I would recommend getting the Limitless Plus RDTA. Dead simple to build on. Lots of space and a 7ml tank.

For wire, I get mine from wireandstuff.co.uk

Cotton - Amazon sells big bags of Muji / Jap stuff for about £6. My bag has lasted me about 2 years so far.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Makeup-Facial-Cotton-Unbleached-140pcs/dp/B00MYXSRAQ/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486473276&sr=8-2&keywords=muji+cotton

Top tip - Vaping cotton is exactly the same as the stuff above, but with a bigger price tag!

u/TechRice · 2 pointsr/Vaping101

For a coil kit that comes with a decent ohm meter. http://www.amazon.com/Walant-Coil-Complete-Vape-Tool/dp/B011DT48UO

And for a battery charger I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Version-NITECORE-i4-Intellicharge-Charger/dp/B005UAI372

Some people prefer the D4 over the I4; but I use the rx200 with vct4's and have no issue with the I4.

With that kit, you can also order some kanthal and start doing basic builds. Spend a little time on YouTube learning to build on your Atty and you'll get the hang of it in no time.
