I'm not in Texas, so I don't know what the requirements are. This was the website I found when I did a quick Google search: http://www.tbvme.state.tx.us/

The best review books I've found are the Mosby comprehensive review book and Review Questions and Answers.

Hope this helps!

I just got some good pet nail clippers on Amazon. Here's the link:

Safari Professional Stainless Steel Nail Trimmer, Standard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002RJM8C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_DLfuyb0KR2RNH

They look like they come in different sizes too, so whether you have a cat or a dog you should be good to go

these are the best pants I've found so far that fall down the least when I bend over and they are incredibly comfortable.

this book is an excellent reference. the drug protocols are a little outdated, but the photos and diagrams of all the parasites, eggs and their life cycles are spot on. it's great to keep a copy near your lab area to flip through if you're ever not sure about something.

We use a small 3 tier drawer container (like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001KN12PI/ref=pd_aw_sims_5?pi=SL500_SS115&simLd=1) I keep them grouped by size. We have an AAHA accreditation this month and keeping them covered and clean and out of the way.

I like this system though we also use old IV lines as ties so we store them there too and we can easily grab the container and have everything you need! We also back stock the XL sizes (I had to order a horse tube for my dane once lol)

I always used something like this: Alphabet file sorter - Amazon

I really helps organize before filing and then everything is in order before you go to your file. You can sort easily and the alphabet is right in front of you.

So far my favorite are Filas work shoes with non slip soles and memory foam insoles. I have stood on my feet in concrete floors at 2 different veterinary clinics for about 14 years.

I don't know if any clinics allow the ones pictured here, but you CAN get completely enclosed Crocs. I have some - like these. Ugly as heck, but I wear them for necropsies (large animals) and other things that might be particularly messy/disgusting, and for international work where I might be exposed to something I don't want to bring back to the US. A quick toss in some disinfectant and they are clean as can be.

I don't wear them on a daily basis like some people do, though.

I got these about a month ago. They work pretty well. But it does depend on your feet. The insoles are removable so you can put your own in there if you have them.

I'll take my lumps. I follow the recipes from Dr. Becker. Complete and AAFCO compliant. My dogs have their blood work done twice a year and they're always perfect. I grew up eating steak tartar so the whole "it's not safe" thing doesn't fly with me. If I can eat raw meat and feed it to my family with no issues I can mange for my dogs.

For anyone interested learning more about raw diets or the recipes the book is now available on Kindle. The back of the book has a complete nutritional break down of the recipes.

The crocs without holes have been amazing! the Danskos didn't help me at all but I go my entire shift pain free with these and they are very affordable!

For any interested, I found a similar mug on Amazon for less than $15

The Zig photo signature or Prismacolor Premier both are meant for glossy photo paper and therefore work great on lab labels and tube paper! Especially if you blow on it for a couple of seconds. I've had more stolen from me in over 20 years than I can count though, keep it in your pocketsessss!

I was told by previous classmates that have taken the VTNE already that they've used this book called "Review Questions and Answers for Veterinary Technicians" by Thomas P. Colville. It's a bunch of questions that were on actual VTNE tests. They've said that they studied this book (along with studying old material from class) and said that the questions in the book were very very similar to the ones in the VTNE, just reworded.

Here it is on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Review-Questions-Answers-Veterinary-Technicians/dp/0323341438/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420731931&sr=8-1&keywords=veterinary+technology+question+and+answers
