I saw pics of my love handles from vacation so now I'm just maintaining/baby cutting for the next 4 weeks so I maybe look less eauw for B A L I, which I'm getting really excited for.

I'm pretty sure I'm moving to Austin at the end of 2018! My parents are retiring and moving away, and that's the only family here, so there's no reason to stay around. Hmm, or maybe somewhere exotic! Good thing I have time to think about it.

My healthcare somehow fell through the cracks, and it's almost resolved! This is exciting because I need to see a physiatrist and don't want to pay $infinity.

I got this book for Christmas and I'm digging it so far. I don't know a lot of about anything so it feels like a good start. Knowledge gains!

It was a pretty productive weekend at our household. I did a bunch of meal prep yesterday, BBQ'd a bunch of chicken and asparagus, made a pot of chili, and tried my hand at making bread for the first time in like a decade. It turned out great, I think that could start to be a nice Sunday ritual. The friend I stayed with during my practicum last year has a couple books all about different breads, one is all about the science and why some things are done the way they are with some types of breads, and the other one is the actual recipes.

Squats went well yesterday, probably benching tonight since I didn't go this morning. Might just do cardio or take a rest day, I have an audiobook checked out for the next 3 weeks that's supposedly pretty intense (The Devil All The Time) so I could make some good headway with it.

Avengers: Endgame is this week! Much excite.

Gainz or also this. I don't have the first but Ive heard its pretty amazing. I do have the second and I can attest to rice cookers being fucking awesome. I use mine for cooking noodles, rice, soups, wontons, etc.

Alternatively if you want it to be purely lifting related I hear that Donnie thompsons recently started selling his bowtie and formal bowtie. Which are for people who bench a lot and have ache-y shoulders and ive heard its good.

Failing that maybe think of lifting clothes that are comfy that they might want? Ive heard a few pots talk about wool socks being amazing (though i dont know if you wear those to lift in or just in boots?). Also some companies like strideline let you put your own logo onto the socks themselves. So maybe get the weak elephant logo and put it on socks?

yes! it looks like The Solitaire Mystery is out of print, which makes me super sad because I've purchased it, lent it out, and then never gotten it back at least three times, so I don't currently have a copy. But you can probably get it with your super librarian powers

Yeah I feel very complex things about the Southern Reach. It similarly hasn't left me, even though I read it about a year ago. I again stalled out about halfway through the final book but I bought a paper copy to try and commit to actually finishing it.

The first time I read the Blind Assassin (I was probably 17 or 18?) I was absolutely fucking devastated at the end. Like, sobbing in the dark by myself, Requiem for a Dream levels of despair. But I read it again a few years ago and I felt this sense of peace at the end. I could see the ways that it was actually a happy ending. Something something aging and accepting mortality and all men must die.

When I reread the Handmaid's Tale it was like, oh yeah so this is the most accurate dystopia we have, actually. The world we're living in now is this fucking bizarre mix of the Handmaid's Tale, Brave New World, and Oryx & Crake (every time I see a store or product spelled the way she does things in that book, like the fucking Younique Makeup MLM, I'm pretty sure Margaret Atwood is a prophet. that book came out in 2003!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Did I tell you the magic of my daylight alarm clock? It's not a sun lamp, but it does wonders for my wellbeing during winter months. Also good for sleeping with room darkening curtains but wanting to be gently awakened - I'd imagine it would be good if your apartment is super dark. It's this one. Are you already supplementing vitamin D in pill form?

This is the router that came fairly highly recommended back in the day when I was looking then I got a down spiral cut bit for my plunge cuts (1/4" since that is what the jasper jig uses), a few roundover/chamfer bits, and a flush trim... Bosh makes pretty good bits for the price so I usually stick with them. Looks like amazon is even running a $20 off dewalt tools right now too.

As far as a "bench" you don't need anything fancy most of my work has been done on a piece of 2'x4' ply on saw horses. With powertools you don't have much lateral force so you don't need something as sturdy as you would if you're using planes, hand saws, and chisels. You just have to be careful about making sure things are balanced and clamped properly so you don't accidentally tip your work surface. Bonus is that it can be folded up and stored easily and if you need a special spot to clamp just right I just cut into the ply.

https://www.amazon.com/MKS-RMX-Platform-Pedals-Silver/dp/B006EPPB7M

Hands down the best all-round platform pedal in my experience. Made in Japan, grippy but not spiky, rolls smooth, will last forever. They're seriously sorta magical. I have no idea how they hold a shoe as well as they do, but they grab better than some MTB platforms I've ridden than will tear your skin off.

If you want clipless pedals it sorta depends on what cleat you want. I don't ride clipless very much but my preference is definitely for SPD, and I just use the Shimano pedal that best suits the bike for that purpose - they make ones for mountain bikes, road bikes, and "touring" which has a platform side and a clip-in side.

Jiffers and I have this one and it's pretty useful for a few things. Some guy in r/weightroom made a little plywood stand so he can use his as a belt squat, too. I'm sure the Valor Fitness one is okay too, I have their chest supported row and I like it a lot.

Just search amazon for "Power Rack" and sort by price. This might be more of what you're looking for?

Make sure to factor in shipping cuz that'll getcha. Or you could build safeties out of wood. 2x4's are pretty strong. Essentially you'd be building some boxes.

Went out for drinks last night to an awesome microbrewery not far from my house. Was good to catch up with a friend who was there too. I also think the beer slightly dehydrated me, helping me reach a min weight so far during this cut.

Also, /u/jiffener, I ordered this scale, so should have a scale update for you soon.

I'm in the process of cancelling my gym membership and setting up home gym. I found this squat rack on amazon prime that looks good. I just wish it had safety bars. Any one else have a better recommendation on a modest squat rack? I already checked craigslist in my area, nothing great.

No one should have to ever see groce gril titties. That's just gaaayyy.

Since I was summoned, I have this one. It's less about which waffle maker you have but rather how good the batter is and also figuring out how long to make the waffles for and at which temperature. A medium high setting on that waffle maker is perfect. All batter will have their specific timing, so experiment a bit and adjust as needed.

I suggest straps with a small amount of padding. I had ones without and they would eat up my wrists, but the padded ones are great.

I have these, and I like them.

> Which is your favorite?

Cedarwood and lemongrass right now. Those and copaiba with coconut oil for a carrier is what I'm using on my beard currently. I just ordered some Sandalwood and Jojoba oil, so we'll see how those go. I like cinnamon, rosemary, clary sage and orange combo around Xmas time.

In a couple months it's gonna all about the woodsy, citrus vibe. I've got lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, bergamot, spearmint and peppermint, tea tree and eucalyptus already. I'll play with those and see what combo I like. This is the set I originally bought that got me started.
