The sooner you accept it the better it gets. We vacuum about once a week but within hours there are already tumble weeds.

The slicker brush has been most effective for ours. Something like this:

Not OP, but it looks like a hammock-style seatcover. I have this one by Ruffwear, but there are others. Good to protect the seat and as a barrier -- but as you can see, it's not going to completely prevent dog/driver schmoozing!

Honestly, I don't do much of anything.
I brush her coat sporadically - when seasons change and in between if she gets particularly dirty/wet. I probably should brush weekly so I wouldn't have to vacuum quite as much. I bathe her 3-4 times a year, usually when she gets overly dirty from rolling in the dirt.
I almost never cut her hair, and clip her nails as needed - maybe once per season.
When I brush I use an undercoat brush like this and larger pin brush. I have a slicker brush too that I've thought about running through her coat, but haven't tried yet.

I'm always amazed at how clean she manages to keep herself. I frequently get asked if she had a bath recently, and it's almost never the case.

I bought this car harness which is crash tested:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064ACNLO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And then used webbing that I used in search and rescue for helicopter liftouts (you can buy it at REI and other sports stores) to make a two point retention harness. Just tie the webbing to the child safety points in the rear seat and then tie them to a climbing carabiner. All you need to do when the dog gets in is clip the carabiner to the harness and you're good to go.

This is a very inexpensive retention system that leaves the dog a fair amount of motion but in the event of a car wreck will prevent them from moving too far forwards or up. They still have some motion side-to-side but that's going to be native to any retention system that leaves the dog room to move around or lay down a bit. If you don't want to have that then you can use the 3rd child safety point and another length of webbing; though, to be honest, my dog can only move about 6 inches in any direction which is just enough to let her be comfortable while still protecting her in case of a car wreck.

If my description doesn't help let me know and I can get a picture of it.

This is a long shot, but maybe looking in the outdoor dept you can find a large outdoor cushion? This just struck me as an idea since I walked by them the other day.

Also, like the other person said, Coolaroo would be a good outdoor idea.

Personally we have this little bed that fits in her crate: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003D7LCT0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_d75RAbGYXAPGB

This can easily be thrown in a washer, or even hosed down and sun dried if it was meant to be 24/7 outside.

You can also find it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Haulin-Australian-Shepherd-Vinyl-Window/dp/B004WLK314

There's other decals too, like "I love my Australian Shepherd" etc..

Koda is good on leash but sometimes if he's excited he'll start pulling and choking. I recently got him this Rogz harness and it's amazing. Hasn't choked once. It's about half the price of what you were looking at too.

I got one of these for my more fine-haired dog (a papillon mix) it was awesome for not messing up his fur, real nice looking too.

I don’t mind at all! I should really keep this information handy lol. Give me a sec to check my amazon history and I can get you some links ☺️

It sounds like he could really benefit from additional mental enrichment. Aussies are working dogs that need a job to do, not just physical exercise. He's bored - he needs his mind worked every day. These behaviors are cries for help, not a means of trying to make you crazy.

Is he crate trained? That is also a good way to manage his destruction. Check out Susan Garrett's Crate Games. Also use the idea that "nothing is for free." Make him work for every piece of kibble he gets (this is how he can get his meals) by either doing training or give him puzzle toys to work at. You can do things like make him a Snuffle Mat, or make/buy some other puzzle toys. It might benefit to also work on some impulse control and "it's yer choice" games.

We groom her at home using thinning shears. If you use regular scissors it will look choppy. We also use a spray conditioner called "The Stuff". It makes her fur so soft and easier to brush through. My dogs all love playing with Jolly Balls, they tend to last a very long time too.

u/KathrynWithaY · 3 pointsr/WiggleButts

Right! I just figured this out with my pup. She would only fetch a tennis ball a few times and then ignore it when I threw it. The other day we were at our local pet store and she fell in love with it and now I can't get her to stop. Her favorite thing to do is play goalie.

I just found that Chuckit makes a kick fetch ball, the large seems to be similar in size to a soccer ball. It will definitely be the next one we purchase once she's a little bigger or destroys the one we currently have.

Does he like to lay on hard floor? You could get a summer cooling mat to see if he likes that. He is probably used to a temp drop at night.
