I've been you! I'm training for a marathon, and have had to learn how to manage the constant tired legs too. People have mentioned a lot of great things, especially nutrition. For the non-nutrition side, here are a few things that have helped me.

Compression works, but make sure you give your compression socks time to recover as they stretch out with use. Wash and air dry after your runs, or every few, or invest in some more. A friend of mine has 2 pairs - one tighter than the other, so she can gauge how much compression she needs on a given day. I wear mine post long runs for the day, to bed, and the day after. Just something to think about.

/u/gelvina mentioned ice baths - these have been my go-to after long runs and they help immensely. Next day feels like I only ran 60% of the mileage I did. I usually do a 20lb bag of ice, bath up to my hips for 15 mins.

Yoga has become my bff (shoutout to youtube's yoga with Adrienne, yoga with Tim, and Nike Training Club app). An hour or more of yoga post long run (or the ice bath), and half an hour or more every other day helps me a lot. Next day soreness is minimal, plus it helps with strength and flexibility simultaneously.

If I do ice bath and yoga in the same day, I feel amazing. I try to do both every weekend.

I like Nike Training Club's app for x-training - they've got a lot of guided exercises for recovery/strength/endurance.

Foam rolling has been mentioned (cheap and easy) which I love, but I also love the stick massagers, particularly the Addaday roller.

I hope things get better for you! xx

OY! I know this is like 4 days late but I have to toss my 2¢ in. I got these bluetooth buds as a gift and like someone else said- once I went bluetooth I will NEVER go back. It's 1000x easier to just flip the headphones to on and go instead of snaking my headphone chord behind my back through my sportsbra and through my armhole. These come with a nice plastic band that secures them to your neck and zero boucing/falling out. Seriously- I would buy for myself if these ever quit. I've only once in a year ran out of battery life- and that was because I left them on for a week before going out.

Also- I am a bigger girl so the armbands were always a MEH to me. But my solution has been to just strap the armband onto my forearm. It's much better because It doesnt rub against my body. I use This guy. Not the best life to it. But it works with my Iphone 6 so im happy. Also the headpohnes say android, but they work with anything bluetooth.

Good luck! I've got a few friends who use the belts, and they say stuff stays secure in them!

I second what's already been said about layers on top, and I'd highly recommend this top as a base layer. It's super lightweight but I only wear it on super cold days because it really keeps you warm. I would also add that sometimes when it's really REALLY cold, I wear spandex shorts under my fleece-lined tights, because my butt gets cold.

And in terms of dealing with ice / slush, a pair of yaktrax or something like these can fit over your shoes and help you get traction so you're not sliding all over the place.

I think you pretty much just have to experiment with it to figure out when you get hungry, what you can keep down, how much chewing you can manage, etc.

I'm at about the same point in my training as you, and I did my first run with water/snacks last weekend! So I've got this on the brain, lol. My long runs have been creeping up for the past couple of months and recently got to 90+ minutes. I haven't hit the proverbial wall or run out of glycogen or whatever, but it was getting to the point where I was coming home ravenous.

I used one of these bottle band doodads and brought along a ziplock of dried apricots. If nothing else, the psychological boost of snacktime was really great!

Sweaty hands is annoying. I use the gloves linked below. They're not the warmest, so my hands are often still cold when I first start running, but once I'm warmed up, they are quite comfortable. I haven't found that my hands get too hot in them.

(Glittens is an awesome word!)

I got 4 hanes jog bras on amazon last week for $33. I've been wanting some new sport bras for a while, and this seemed like a pretty good deal.

They are super nice bras for the price. Like, shockingly nice. I kind of hate my old ones now.

Link for the curious. The price has gone up because it's not the deal of the day anymore. Hanes Women's Jogbra (Pack of 4), Black/Pink Bloom/Super Turquoise, Medium https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FA1KWII/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_j8khybWTB9HDK

I like the reflective vests that are mostly mesh (like this) as opposed to straps -- they feel very light. With one of these guys clipped to the back if I am in super dark conditions.

I ran one of those overnight relay races where they make you wear all this safety gear, and I was surprised at how comfortable a decent headlamp can be.

u/terceslil · 2 pointsr/XXRunning

Out of all of the headlamps that I tried, this is the brightest one and works best with my ponytail.

I got it on sale. I like that it is rechargeable. I use the same charger that I use for my phone to recharge the headlamp.

I've been buying these on Amazon . I like them because I'm short and have a hard time finding ones that have a good length where the "knee" isn't on my calf making things baggy in weird spots. I also like that they have good coverage. I was between sizes for a time and the smaller size stretched a bit more without becoming sheer, which is always good too.

These gloves are on my wish list and the reviews say they're good at preventing hand sweat. Not a bad price either!

I tried these out yesterday and I was pretty happy with them. I have big thighs and these didn't ride up at all. I just wish they were a little higher waisted

I recently discovered the Brooks Moving Comfort Luna sports bra. It's amazing and may be my favorite sports bra ever. I'd previously been wearing a two bra combo because I could never get enough support from one without spending a ton. I got these on Amazon on sale for $29.99. I'm worried the sale price may be because they are discontinuing them. I say that because I don't see them anywhere on the official Brooks site. This used to happen to me!!! Before long runs I use Glide on my underarms and on my bra line. It glides on just like deodorant and it took care of my chafing immediately.

I get these from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075FNG3SR/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I adore them because they have pockets. I think i own them in every color now.

I will say that they run long - I'm very short (5'0) so the capris are full length for me lol. It doesn't make them uncomfortable or bulkuy though.

I was looking for links, but can't seem to nail it down (they were TJ Maxx finds). The closest I've gotten are these.

Key takeaways are the built in brief (not bicycle style shorts), approx 3" shorts, and drawstrings. I really like the RBX and Reebok pairs I grabbed. Not as sold on the Under armour (the outer short rides up so I get chafing). Our lows have hardly dropped below 70°F in over a month, and these have been life savers. I have consistent thigh rub which is why I'd held out before, but I haven't actually had issues with the ones the fit my body shape well.

I can highly recommend Chrissy Teigen's cookbook called "Cravings."
I have made several recipes out of it since Christmas and I have loved them all!

Shout-out to the Honey-Chipotle Chicken, Split Pea Soup and Charred Fish Tacos.
