Here is the BOM:
Got these because they were black PCB, don't like the way it was waterproofed but actually worked pretty well probably more robust than the coated ones.

This was the controller I used (I'm sure you can find them without the LEDs, it's Bluetooth which isn't as common as you might think)

I also used some nice outdoor rated PSA foam tape to hold everything on along with a few black zip ties just in case. Wired everything and sealed with silicone. Make sure you don't serialize the strips they should be all connected in parallel so they chase in unison.
They are connected to my AUX power output using the standard automotive 12V plug. They come one when my bike does. Which is fine. If I want to turn them off you can do so from the app for the controller.

That's it. Now to start on the custom controller. Anyone connected to the CAN bus on this bike? That would be the easiest way to get speed.

  • The SR/F uses the same battery that the current S/DS line uses, and I think Zero's mileage estimates resonate fairly accurately with actual use. The new model is slightly heavier than the other ones so the range is a little less than what they predict for them

  • You could buy your own portable EV station and lug it around with you for 14-50 access, like one of these

  • On a hot day if you're trying to do some sort of touring fast, you can overheat the pack. Ben Rich, YouTuber, did it with some of our fast chargers because he was basically going like 85 on a sunny July day and trying to recharge at 1C for multiple stops. You've got to watch the battery temperatures and adjust. Pack getting really warm? Drop it down to 70. I've personally taken several hundred mile trips and never gotten over 107F on the pack because I was riding conservatively for max range, but the SR/F's charging is... unusual at best in the US.

  • I don't see a liquid cooled pack happening. Not unless the entire thing is totally redesigned.

Lightnings still don't actually exist. Anyone can claim a concept bike. If you want faster charging and a nicer upright position, look into an Energica Eva. I actually have a line on some at a ... rather steep discount if you're interested and want to send me a message.

A bit late to the question but I just replaced the stock bulb with a set of LED H4 retrofits off Amazon.

Hikari Ultra LED H4 Bulbs (6K cold blue bright light)

I pulled the rubber covers off the back and have run them that way for the last 16 months. They have a little cooling fan that makes a whirring sound which can be annoying to some but I like it because it acts like an "on" indicator for the bike.

Much much brighter light and exactly what I wanted.

Have not done it yet but I have been debating wiring both of the lights low and high beams together to make even more light. Anyhow, that's been my solution.

Update: I ended up buying one of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0734QN8KR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Felt weird buying a $15 piece of electronics but I'm pleasantly surprised at how loud this thing is. It even gives off two loud "warning" sounds before going off completely, which is all I really want (to spook off a potential thief).

I hid it under the seat and stuck it to the frame with some gorilla glue mounting tape, and it'll do the trick!

Same basic premise, but I use one of these Velcro straps. A bit easier to get tight enough.

I have several Rubber Twist tie-downs that should do just the trick!

Easy to carry around, reusable, and tough.

Your link has a link to the DC/DC converter section of the manual. It's under the seat, and the wires are labeled: “enable” turns on the converter, “in” is high voltage, “out” is 12 volts.

You'll need a multimeter to read the voltages on the wires and connectors.
