  • CRAFTED WITH QUALITY: Made of high tensile silicone with stainless steel buckles and levers, our watch straps are sturdy for long-lasting use. Unlike cheap rubber imitations that encourage the growth of bacteria and becomes smelly, our silicone strap does not collect sweat in addition to being waterproof and washable. Silky smooth to the touch, our straps never feel sticky, unlike other plastic ones.
  • SUIT YOUR STYLE: Easily create a new look and match your outfit by switching your watchband. Choose from red, orange, green, blue, black, gray, and white. Wear a conservative neutral at the workplace and a bright, bold color for fun in casual settings. Our wide color assortment has options appropriate for both men and women, while our silicone band has an attractive appearance with both casual and fancy watch faces.
  • WEARS COMFORTABLY ON THE WRIST: Our high quality silicone straps feel silky smooth on skin while being lightweight to wear. Their textured back surface prevents slipping and sliding so that they stay in place without needing to be tightened. However, unlike that of competitor models, the textured surface does not irritate skin. These bands also improve airflow to prevent the accumulation of sweat.

Lived in FHK the first two years it was coed (96-98).

  • Bring flip flops to wear in the shared shower.
  • The desks and cabinets do uninstall from the walls if you want to do a creative loft.
  • Train noise reverberates through the quad, but you'll adjust quickly. A white noise machine like this will help immensely.
  • Unless things have changed (I'm sure they have) your closest laundry not in the dorm will be in the study room behind Keathley adjoining Davis-Gary.
  • Heldenfels is a short walk (10 mins), and that's where the majority of life sciences (for fish) should be.
  • If you're in a room at the end, you can install a hammock on the corner of the railing pretty easily.
  • Most important of all, leave your door open when you're there! Jam your music loud enough for passers-by. It's a great way to meet folks.

You can check out what you'll learn right now if you'd like. The book is Integrated Chinese Level 1 Part 1 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0887276385/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdo_t1_91RMAbTQJKWP1). There's also a pdf copy floating around the internet somewhere if you just want to check it out without buying. The beginner 1 class goes over the first 5 chapters and the beginner 2 class goes over the next 5 chapters. The entire book is equivalent of one semester long college class so it's a little bit of a slower pace than taking a class at A&M (which I kind of liked, since I didn't know anything going into it, it provided a no pressure environment).

For a large part of the beginner 1 class, we would start with like 5 mins of going over the tones individually and the teacher would correct us. The teacher was also usually pretty good about correcting our tones when speaking to answer questions. Our teacher also provided time at the end of class to answer whatever other questions we had. I guess the experience is entirely dependent on your teacher so YMMV.

I'm not sure of your background but here's some info in case you have no/little experience. Be aware that there are two sounds in Mandarin that aren't in English: the 'r' sound isn't quite the same, and we don't have the ü vowel. I don't know if you speak any other languages, but don't be discouraged if you can't get those quite right, it took me over a year and I'm still not confident I say them right (although I've been told I do). Also pinyin (the phonetic romanization system that tells you how to pronounce characters) isn't a direct mapping to English spelling. For example, "hui" in pinyin is pronounced more like "hway". The app "Pleco" is free (with paid add-ons) and shows you characters, pinyin, definitions, and example sentences, and it can read everything out loud for you so you can mimic the pronunciation. It's a must have.

If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help out!

Upper/Luxury End ($1600): Boosted Rev

Midlevel ($769): Segway Ninebot

Lower End ($379): Xiomi Mi Electric Scooter

I have a friend who has the Segway and loves it. The Xiomi's are good from what I've heard. They're the exact scooters used by most of the major ride share scooters like Lime and Bird if you've ever tried those. Also heard really positive reviews for the Boosted, but... $1600.

Howdy. as a the others of said, OCHEM is not too incredibly difficult it is just a new kind of science that you haven't seen before. when i was at TAMU i took both OCHEM 1 and 2, and worked in a biological chemistry lab (for one of the actual OCHEM professors). i worked really close with my grad student (who was an OCHEM TA), and he always recommended the "OCHEM as a second language book" by David Cline. i read through it after i had taken OCHEM and was kicking myself because the book was soo good at teaching you the fundamentals of OCHEM. it is a really good book if you want to use it as a support resource. i found the newest edition on amazon if you are interested. ( https://smile.amazon.com/Organic-Chemistry-As-Second-Language/dp/1119110661/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=organic+chemistry+as+a+second+language&qid=1563237601&s=gateway&sr=8-1 ) Getting an A is definitely manageable if you put forth the effort.

I have this calendar that has one vintage gameday program cover every month. Haven't kept track, but I think they go back to the 30's and 40's. Definitely the 50's. I bet printing any of these out poster-style would look great. Be sure and post the finished product!

I'm a tech guy. Love following PC hardware and laptops and Mac all over the place, even built my own PC and stuff. I'm looking through the BYOD suggested list and all I can think is that they're scamming freshman. Straight up I can think of 5 or 6 laptops with better specs and way better performance than this lenovo off the top of my head that are WAY cheaper than $1500. I just want to know if we should suggest other laptops for the freshman BYOD requirement that might not be as crappy as this.

Like, seriously, $1500 and only a U-series i7, a freaking 2GB discrete graphics chip and 8GB of RAM??? The 2019 Acer Helios 300 for example is $300 less, has a 144hz IPS display, 16GB of RAM, the same amount of hard drive space, a freaking H-series 6 core i7, and a spankin' 1660Ti under the cover with x3 the VRAM.

Did I mention it was $300 less too? Here's the amazon link for proof. Seriously guys, be careful with BYOD. I have friends who straight up wasted $1500 on something just as terrible instead of buying something actually great.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-78VL/dp/B07QXLFLXT/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=helios+300&qid=1566524666&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Edit: Also, if you're looking for an allegory to the Lenovo, look at the Y530. It's only got a 1050Ti, but the 8750H is still a beast and the 1050Ti is okay for anything 1080p medium settings at 50-60fps. The Helios is better, but that's Acer if you're not into them.

they're just regular hammocks as far as i can tell - tie em to a tree and lie in it. you can probably buy them from sporting goods stores..? I haven't been in the US long enough to know what those are like, but that's where i'd look, that or Amazon. I'm sure there are some which are designed for 2, like this one here

u/Draptor · 11 pointsr/aggies

It'd be nice with the growing number of courses that require a computer, especially with the spread of online only HW and textbooks.

Until they add more, you could keep something like one of these in your backpack and ask someone to share an outlet.

When I had their 15 meg service, my DOCSIS 2 modem worked well. They required me to upgrade when i switched to 30 meg service.

Be sure to buy your modem, though, if you plan on using it for longer than 6 months. Here's one like the one I have. The rental fees are a joke when considering the cost of owning outright.

u/cbm1745 · 8 pointsr/aggies

C++ is the language used! It's not too hard of a class if you have any programming experience. And even if you don't it's not bad, it's meant to teach you the basics. I went through some of this book he summer before and learned almost everything we did in that class ahead of time and it made it a breeze! Good luck!

u/StableSystem · 2 pointsr/aggies

you could buy this, update the bios, and then return it. I have a 4th gen so i wouldn't be able to help, as much as I want free laynes

u/shstmo · 3 pointsr/aggies

Buy your own wireless router + modem on amazon & save on the rental fees. I bought this modem and it works great. Six months renting is the same price as buying your own.

u/WhitMage9001 · 2 pointsr/aggies

The Lenovo ideapad is a bit over your budget but may be what you're looking for.

To be honest you'd be hard pressed to find a laptop at those specs for $500. Just a cpu and gpu together would be half that entire price.

Got to spend a game with Mr. McFerrin and his family in his box at Kyle Field last year. Extremely positive guy even when facing major medical issues. Texas A&M would not be what it is without his generosity.

Here.

I have this printer. It's a black and white laser jet and I love it. I've printed probably 500-600 pages (mostly resumes and textbook pages) and have yet to run out of toner. It prints fast and hasn't didn't require any set up past plugging it into the wall and my computer. If you need two sided or colored printing then you'll want to get something else, but this is fantastic for 90% of print jobs (and the on campus printing can handle the other 10%)

u/callan752 · 2 pointsr/aggies

You do need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to use the higher speeds. You DO NOT have to buy it or rent it from Suddenlink though.

I would suggest the Arris/Motorola SURFBoard 6121, it is what I use and it is a well reviewed device.

Amazon

Best Buy

Remember, this is only a cable modem and is not a wireless router, if you want wireless and want to connect more than one device, you will need to buy a wireless router. If you have a wireless router now, you could probably reuse it.

These are my suggestions, not a definitive guide.

u/CaptainSnacks · 6 pointsr/aggies

Yep! I used to do 5 and 10 K runs there in the winter. I invested in a click counter so I could keep track of how many laps I had done - GPS doesn't work well there so you have to go lap counter and a stopwatch

u/jmkiii · 2 pointsr/aggies

I have had the same problem, and wasn't user error. Have y'all tried these? They tend to hold up a bit better in my experience.

You can go to a jewelry store or buy a set of ring sizers off Amazon for around $6.

Yes, you should buy your own modem, this one since it will pay for itself within 6 months as Suddenlink charges $12/month for modem rental.
