I'm not sure I'd do a steak in the air fryer, but if you really want to then I'd get a small cast iron pan that would fit in the air fryer. 275F for about 15-20 minutes (not in the cast iron pan yet, or if you want to do it in the pan be sure to preheat it for a while first), make sure to check the temp often so you don't overcook it, until you get the internal temp you want. 15-20 minutes should get you somewhere around medium, but that's just a guess since it seems like the air fryer just about cuts cooking time in half in most cases, and when I do this in a real oven I do around 30-40 mins. This is basically reverse-searing in an air fryer.

Then, crank your air fryer to max temp. It looks like a power air fryer gets to 400...that should be...maybe enough, but you're going to get a pretty decently-sized grey band inside. Put the cast iron in without the steak and let it get hot for a while, then put the steak back in and sear the outside until it's done to your liking. 400 isn't great for searing though, which is why I said you'll get a pretty big grey band once you cut into the steak.

One easy alternative if you don't have access to a grill or other means of heating your cast iron way high is to get a culinary blowtorch. They're cheap, usually $20 or less. I have this one and it works great: https://www.amazon.com/EurKitchen-Culinary-Butane-Torch-Cooking/dp/B0176TZO9E/ref=sxin_3_osp43-54ece20a_cov?ascsubtag=54ece20a-4da5-4166-a0fc-5f0c7895ec9d&creativeASIN=B0176TZO9E&cv_ct_id=amzn1.osp.54ece20a-4da5-4166-a0fc-5f0c7895ec9d&cv_ct_pg=search&cv_ct_wn=osp-search&keywords=blowtorch&linkCode=oas&pd_rd_i=B0176TZO9E&pd_rd_r=377824e9-23b7-4cdf-8505-ee6eebcb1ff3&pd_rd_w=jEqjK&pd_rd_wg=or7Wx&pf_rd_p=ecf33437-71b9-4523-8c89-d04c930d3865&pf_rd_r=TPKNV4PWQTQCQ58PY17T&qid=1566934604&s=gateway&tag=bgr0a0-20

Just get a butane canister (you can get these at lowe's or home depot, make sure it has a long stem and not a short one), fill it up, and torch the outside of the steak until it's seared to your liking after cooking in the air fryer @ 275F for 15-20 mins. I really like this method if there's no access to a hot heat source, since the torch won't overcook the inside of your steak and you won't get that grey band like you would if you did the whole process in the air fryer.

Be sure to let it rest for a few minutes after.

I love steak and cook it regularly, I'll try a few cheap ones in the air fryer and report back if I find a better method. I have used the small cast iron pan method to cook a burger in the air fryer though.

I was gifted this one a few months ago and I LOVE it!

Besides how well it air fries, it's also very simple to use and SUPER easy and fast to clean! The bottom where the "starfish" is at is teflon coated and many times, all I have to do is wipe it with a damp paper towel. The basket where you put your food was trickier to figure out how to clean. Things like a dish rag, sponge, etc will leave fibers snagged to the wire mesh. To clean that part, I found that using a vegetable brush works perfect and quickly, too! I've made chicken wings in it and they came out great. I also found that if I cook in smaller batches with it...just one layer and not totally full (like shown in the pic in the Amazon link), everything cooks more evenly, too.

I have a different Breville, and I'm very happy with it. Comparing the two, it looks like mine has a 2-speed fan (vs 1 speed), has 1 more heating element, is larger, and has a dehydrate function.

I can't say whether that would make a difference in functionality. But I will say that the thing is incredibly well built, works well, is easy to clean, etc.

I made these delicious frittatas in this CuisinArt Compact Air Fryer using these aluminum pans. The following is what I came up with on a whim and split between two pans.

Ingredients:

2 eggs

⅓ cup half & half

¼ cup shredded medium cheddar cheese

Vegetables & Herbs (Handful of greens, grape tomatoes, onions, garlic, rosemary, micro-greens)

Salted Butter

Sea salt

Black pepper

EBTB seasoning

  1. Crack the eggs and gently mix with the half & half. Set aside.
  2. Sauté the vegetables until softened. Let it cool slightly.
  3. Grease the cooking pans and add the egg mixture.
  4. Add in the vegetables with the mixture.
  5. Mix in cheese.
  6. Top with EBTB seasoning, sea salt, black pepper, rosemary & micro-greens.
  7. Cook at 260 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes (I used the middle rack). The frittata is ready when it becomes firm with a slight jiggle in the center.

Let the frittata set for a couple of minutes before enjoying!

I have the same one. Congrats on your purchse...you're going to love it.

I recommend parchment paper for the bottom of the basket. Here is the ones I bought that fit nicely in the basket:

I have had this one ...

https://www.amazon.com/Power-Features-Professional-Dehydrator-Rotisserie/dp/B0769Y1JVN/ref=sr_1_3

for about 6 months and I have been very happy with it. I like it because it has three tray racks and the heat and fan come from the top. Chicken Wings come out tremendous. I love the rotating basket it comes with for fries, tater tots, etc. I have not had any issues with. I purchased from Walmart.

Prep/precut/premessure ingediants and stage the containers in the order you'll use them.
The culinary term is "Mise en place". If you ever watch a cooking show you can see how they have it all staged like that.
Nothing wrong with those metal cups- I have some I picked up cheaper at Sam's club. I do prefer something like this though with a lid:
https://www.amazon.com/Greenco-Storage-Containers-Condiment-Leak-resistant/dp/B00U0IY26K/ref=sr_1_7?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1521901709&sr=1-7&keywords=small+containers+with+lids

Cheap $5 for 20 and with lids i can prepare things earlier and stack them up in the order I'll need them.
Things like different spices that all are added at the same time i tend to premix in the same container.

When cooking it can be easy to misread an amount off a recipe while you trying to manage things. Have everything ready to just pour into a pan/pot and you'll be far more focused on the cooking itself.

This isn't a BIG fryer (2.75 qt), but it's a good one for less than $50.

If you are concerned about cosmetic flaws, spend $60 and get an almost perfect one.

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-HD9220-28-Airfryer-2-75qt/dp/B01M8HZLZ3/ref=sr_1_2?m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&s=warehouse-deals&ie=UTF8&qid=1538602959&sr=8-2&keywords=air+fryer+philips&dpID=51iB7JFlRnL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I own this one and it's just about perfect. No bells and whistles, but you probably don't need all that anyway. It's not big enough for a family, I wouldn't think, unless you want to serve food in shifts.

EDIT: Now that I look at the Bella, the Philips is actually bigger than that one.

I got awesome parchment paper liners from Amazon, 100 for $4.99. The have the holes to allow even air flow and fit in my basket just right. I got 7.5 inch for my Phillips fryer, and it comes in different sizes.
.
Hot tip- Do Not Pre Heat With Just The Paper In The Fryer- it will get sucked up to the heating element and you can guess what happens next. Hope this info helps.

We have this kind of fryer and are very happy with it :-

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tower-Convection-Infrared-Capacity-Extender/dp/B00NSKW8KE

It has a large capacity, it is easy to clean and easy to use.

u/dcutts77 · 1 pointr/airfryer

Also I bought this to go with it, it's the perfect width and the grate allows for pretty good air frying.

I use this and it's not a perfect fit but helps with clean up. My air fryer just has a basket that fits in a drawer, like this: (https://i.imgur.com/0wp5iEg.jpg)

I don't know if that's the same as yours.. What model do you have?

I have a Faberware air fryer oven and LOVE it! This is what I have:

https://www.amazon.com/Ferberware-6-Quart-Digital-Fryer-Black/dp/B07KVH8CLD

I use it for literally just about everything!

u/Gousf · 2 pointsr/airfryer

I just bought an egg sandwich maker like this -Joie Microwave Bacon and Egg Cooker for Breakfast Sandwiches or Breakfast for One https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00715GM5E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_tN4yDb2BYJTVJ at aldi yesterday for about $3.

Though the top is designed for the egg in this setup I used to bottom silicone tray, melted some bacon grease in it and the cracked the wgg.

I have used my parents version of this the way it's meant to be in the past and it's pretty decent. But my eggs just fell out of the silicone when I turned it upside down

u/jacklangston · 1 pointr/airfryer

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y39KPZ4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 isn't much bigger than the first one, and has the best combination of features I've found in an airfryer. The lid to the basket is worth the price of admission.

u/MimiHamburger · 2 pointsr/airfryer

If you’re interested in egg air fryn’ lemme suggest these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BI8NAK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ODGzDbHV8V4T0
Just plop your eggs in it, add a couple table spoons of water, and slice of butter or any other seasoning and you got yourself a perfect eggs in 6 minutes

u/NoAngel815 · 2 pointsr/airfryer

I would suggest the combo air fryer/instant pot they came out with recently. I know you said no need for the mixed ones but I have both as separate machines and they work great together, especially when cooking from frozen. I can't eat greasy food anymore but I'll start out cooking wings (let's say) in the Instant Pot and then get them crispy in the air fryer, I literally didn't use my oven or stove for over a month after getting both of them (the Instant Pot has a saute function). I also an accessory pack so that I can do pot in pot meals, egg bites (like Starbucks), and steam veggies.
