You need to buy something with a cap.
Don't use the metal needle to suck up the distillate, it is too thick and won't work. Just use the open tip and clean it off when done.

I got this one. It's been working for a year now.
You could go to Lowes or home depot, they have this stuff for putting broken tool handles back together, it's like a roll of cast you get wet, wrap around whatever, and let dry and it hardens. If you put some glue or epoxy or putty around the crack so water didn't drop out, you could salvage it with that. I'll try to find the name of the product hold on
Edit:Here is the stuff I was talking about, I think. It's basically a cast. Not pretty but it worked for me, g'luck lemme know how it turns out
