I have had reoccurring bv for years and it sucks and it's embarrassing and it's hard on your self esteem, but it's usually not your fault or due to a lack of hygiene. I've recently figured out, after reading alot of scientific literature and other women's advice/research on some of the best methods to combat it and it seems to work, maybe not perfectly, but it does.
The Science
-----------------
To combat bv, you have to try and understand why it happens scientifically.
-Bv seems to occur in women due to one or a combination of things like random hormones, excess sugar intake/diabetes prone, unbalanced vaginal ph.
-The best way to tackle bv is a multifaceted approach, aka it takes a few methods at the same time to combat different issues. It takes some time, so patience is key!
-Here's what's happening: the ph of the vag should be naturally acidic because bad bacteria can't survive in acidic environments, only good ones can. Women with bv have fluctuating ph due to hormones so the bad bacteria thrives, causing all the bv symptoms they produce like discharge, the horrible smell, itching and pain.

The Solutions:

*Here's the plan. First, you gotta take one round of prescription antibiotics for a week. I used Clindamyacin, but use whichever you want.
or 300 mg vitamin C capsules (pure, without additives). I prefer boric acid because it has a very high success rate between women. (This is as safe and natural as its going to get).
*Directly after that first week of antibiotics, (or you can start during if you're taking oral antibiotics), insert boric acid suppositories vaginally every 2-3 days.
*So after the first week, while you start inserting boric acid, take the probiotic every day.
-For alot of women, simply just taking the boric acids seems enough to stop bv
I know this was a lot to read but if you need more in depth instructions, please feel free to ask. I can also definitely link other, more detailed posts by other redditors that helped me. Best of luck!!
