I used one of these years ago and it was total hell to use. It was okay with small clips, but there were a lot of workarounds you had to do with the audio and stuff like that. A lot of the time it was a pain to get good video, or the audio would be out of sync. I started using a DVD recorder and ripping the files instead of using one of these.

For the past few years I've been using a Hauppauge ImpactVCB-e PCI Express Video Capture Board 1381 which costs ~$50 and includes WinTV capture software which is pretty good. If you have a space in your computer I would definitely recommend an internal capture card. A good card is a whole lot easier and painless to use than a cheap USB one.

Ok, let me explain myself. Like you, I love bad movies. Maybe a little too much. So, naturally, I decided to write a book about them. Some of the funniest times of my life have been hanging out with friends to watch them, and I wanted to create something… out there… so I said "why the hell not?" The goal was to match the aesthetic of a B-movie.

The book stars Gilman, first name unknown. He's disgusting and socially inept. But he means well. In December, 1992, Gilman meets a bunch of bad movie lovers who show him a good time, and it changes his life. Then, they get B-movie-style revenge on any narbo who's ever wronged them. Feel free to check it out on Amazon to find out more.

Download the book here.. Like I said in the title, it's free until January 19. If you do read it, I'd appreciate it if you'd leave an honest review.

This sub has introduced me to so many "works" that have influenced this project, so I sincerely want to give something back. I hope you try it. Thanks!

Edit: Also got mod approval to post this.

For those like me who saw this review and said "Okay, yes, I need this movie" we are in luck.

Steele Justice was released recently on blu ray!. Bought a copy, thankfully with Prime I'll get this here on Wednesday. I'll report back with a review on the picture/audio quality and probably take a couple clips and upload to vimeo.

I actually own the original and didn't know it until a few months ago. You can own it, too!

I love the MST3K version. The Rifftrax version is brilliant, as well.

Just throwing in the info I have tracked down on some of these titles from the /movies thread:

V.I.Y is the one with the troll looking thing on the cover. Looks like a Dracula style movie with a goat-hooved monster and zombie dogs. Oh yea. Looks like it was released as Forbidden Empire as well.

Death Machine AKA Doomsday looks like a delightful sci-fi time travelling romp, "Achilles, a time traveller, crashes in the moors of North England in the present day. He is pursued by a human hybrid, the Death Machine who will stop at nothing to restore the sanctity of time. "

Rise of the Predator looks particularly awful, clearly a Predator/Alien ripoff, possibly a German production? Can't find IMDB for it, but it's on Amazon. Oddly the Amazon poster looks decidedly less Predator-like then the Thai DVD insert...

Next up... Rise of the Black Bat complete with typo in the summary, and a whopping 1.5 stars. Yikes. This could be the best of the lot. Trailer here

Oh yea, I've actually seen Road Wars it is deserving of the 2.4 star reviews. Lots of nothing going on.

That looks like a bootleg DVD. Hopefully it's a good transfer, and hopefully you can play a region 3 DVD. Otherwise, you can find it on Amazon.

I just rented a copy and watched it last night.

u/charlieblimey · 3 pointsr/badMovies

It can be purchased via Amazon UK and in theory the import duties should be covered in the price.

And you can get it via ebay as part of this box set. I can't see it via Amazon right now.

Frankly, unless you need to use it for making some kind of youtube video or viewing party or you're drunk and have watched every other movie in existence, I would recommend the Rifftrax version. It would be the cheapest option and I'm not sure you lose anything by watching this version. Personally, I think you gain a lot more. The only question then is do you find it funny, and you get a preview on the site to make a decision about that.

That's the one where, in the beginning, they fly him in via helicopter and everyone's running around going "Seagal's here, finally, he's gonna take care of the situation, etc etc". All this buildup for him to just press a button that anyone else could have simply pressed.

I highly recommend the Seagalogy book. It goes through all his films chronologically and breaks down why and how awesome/stupid they are. Great read.

Prime is the best by far. Netflix and hulu have hardly anything decent (horrible). honestly though, youtube is my main jam: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvmR2WYwRx0-2PRQbeg-744ScyKak4aaM

but on prime I'd recommend Megaforce, Hercules Against Karate, Digital Man, Time Barbarians, to start with

It was just pushed into 3rd best selling comedy DVD by . . . Disney's Descendants?

On the recommendation of someone in this sub, I grabbed the Girls, Guns, and G-Strings collection from amazon a while back. 12 Andy Sidaris movies for 5 bucks - AMAZING deal.

u/lake_troll · 3 pointsr/badMovies

Yes! I bought this set about a year ago and me and my friends have been slowly making our way through them.

u/SpaceAsparagus · 3 pointsr/badMovies

I just got my copy in. The seller on Amazon must have got wise to what's going on as the movie is now 20 dollars with 5 shipping. I got it for 14 with 5 shipping.

Love the guys at RLM, single handidly effecting the bad movie stock market.

Edit: Partners on Amazon

u/Wickedld · 1 pointr/badMovies

For anyone interested, this is the dvd set that RLM watched this movie from. It's only 9 bucks and has 50 movies on it.

Another interesting tidbit, for people who saw the RLM stream last year, they streamed a movie called Abraxxas, Guardian of the Galaxy starring Jesse Ventura. That movie is also in this set. It's on the same disc Rotor is.:)

There is a blu day version on Amazon with A/1 region so it should work in North America. Just bought it last night thanks to this post. Hopefully the specs are right on the Amazon page and it works.

Here is the bluray I got today. Works for N. America.

Found an Amazon page with a synopsis, year, and director. I'll keep looking. Apparently it's also know as "Dear Santa" and "Secret Santa" and combining either of those with the director name could help you a lot

EDIT: Found a UK import DVD if you live in the States. Apparently it's region 0 so I don't think playing it should be a problem despite the copypasta description - UK is usually region 2 and 0 is all regions.

Also, for anyone curious, I found a trailer, and oh boy

u/njcuenca · 1 pointr/badMovies

Seems like there are a few more available on Amazon www.amazon.com/Millennium-Day-Dana-Plato/dp/B000FLWX3G

u/TheColonel · 2 pointsr/badMovies
