Well, let's honestly take a look. As someone who hasn't bought a PC in a decade, I'll certainly admit that I don't have the technical knowledge or up to date information on where to get the right system for the right deal. If we only look at pre-builts, there are a couple that I can spot:
Low/mid end 'gaming' PC that's a little weaker in the ram department as well as having a celing of only mid-level graphics. I'd propably be ok with this, though I'd probably end up buying extra sticks. Even comes with the newest Deus Ex (not sure how well it'd perform). On sale for $490.
Better performer with a slight chance of bottlenecking on high settings, but should run well at 60fps. - On sale $560.
I'm sure there are better finds out there, but I don't think as a shopper I'm far off the mark. My point ultimately being is that if I'm going to make a major purchase like this, I'd want it to be competitive into the near future too. BF4 was a demanding game on launch, but we are 3 years out now and I'd want to be able to play the next battlefield as well.
So is it worth buying a PC able to play BF4 fairly well today for $400 or so? Maybe to a few, but probably not for most.
"Ahah!," you might say - PCs are upgradable. Indeed, ram can be added, video cards can be swapped out, and chipmakers even release drivers to make upcoming titles better optimized on current equipment. All of this though still works better for the person who is buying a new PC for much larger reasons than one single game. Some day, I will probably jump back aboard the PC user community - but not because someone snidely commented on my xbox360 gameplay footage.
Yep I posted there a few days back, I also posted in /r/Ultrawidemasterrace but they complained about cable management, so did some work and posted this in /r/battlestations , The Boom arm I am using is This here which was the longest one I could find. I wanted it to extend over my monitors for easy access and I actually have the stand attached to the shelf behind the monitors. The monitor stand I Was using originally was This one and I had to weld 2 extra support rods to the sides of the center rack originally, but I was not satisfied with how it ended up and I Wanted to use the original monitor stand for the Acer X34, so I removed the 3 monitor rack from the 3x1 stand and just left the single pole, I was able to insert the back of the Acer X34 stand over the pole of the WSGF stand and surprisingly fit perfectly Here then for the two side monitors, I used This monitor arm for both of them, though I remember it being a lot cheaper. A great deal of range of movement and definitely no complaints at all.
YES and YES! I love it
I'm passionate about old pictures and the history behind them.
I recommend the book The colour of time written by /u/marinamaral it is a beautiful book in the similar tone.
For anyone out there, whether you want super in-depth hardcore information, or just quick overviews, here are my recommended books, shows, wikis, and videos for learning about this awe-inspiring war:
Personally, I have read or seen all of these except The Guns of August, The First World War and Apocalypse WW1, but I trust that everyone of these should be good and informative! Enjoy!
(I will be posting this on multiple threads for your pleasure! If you guys get annoyed by it, just let me know!)
It’s a pretty broad statement but I’d be happy to share my reasoning.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2001/feb/17/johnezard
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clean_Wehrmacht
http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/zsshhyc
https://www.timesofisrael.com/what-did-germans-know-secret-anti-nazi-diary-gives-voice-to-man-in-the-street/
The last one is pretty important because it’s an example of the exception to the rule, a German who was disgusted by what his countrymen allowed.
You also have to remember that complicity isn’t all equal. I’m not saying all germans were killers or even necessarily active in their antisemitism. The holocaust led to the coining of the phrase “the banality of evil.”
I could tell you that the fact that Hitler was elected into power or that millions joined his party was enough. I could tell you that the fact that so few fought back within Germany is evidence. But really all that it took was for the majority to simply allow and accept if not condone the mass atrocities.
I’ll leave you with this book:
https://www.amazon.com/Ordinary-Men-Reserve-Battalion-Solution/dp/0060995068
This is perhaps the most damning evidence we have that the average German knew enough to know what was happening, and that it was overwhelmingly accepted by them.
There’s also this:
https://www.amazon.com/Hitlers-Willing-Executioners-Ordinary-Holocaust/dp/0679772685
I believe that his thesis that antisemitism was uniquely German is flawed but his arguments and evidence for an existence of virulent antisemitism embedded in the German national identity is pretty clear.
Edit: this article is also pretty interesting. https://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/aug/28/curt-schilling/schilling-throws-wild-pitch-nazi-stat/
Here's the serverlist courtesy of GameMonitor... I've been keeping tabs on it for quite a while. Usually one or two fairly well-filled servers at peak US hours.
I just ventured across teh internet trying to find a copy... it's kinda tough man. ~~ Amazon used to keep a really good supply of every edition of BF:42/V, now I can't seem to find anything.~~ This is sorta pissing me the hell off... why haven't they put these classics on Steam and Origin yet?
But, if you do get your hands on a copy, drop a self-post at r/classicbattlefield (or here, whatever) and well hop in mumble and server crawl for a while. I've played 42 most of my gaming career, but I do recall some really excellent times in BF Vietnam. It had plenty of welcome improvements from BF42.
Edit: Hold the phone! Just stumbled on the amazon links I was looking for.
BF42 Complete Collection incl Vietnam : Used for about $15
BFV standalone : New for $10, used for $2 (lol)
Huh, I looked up Mass Effect for Mac to be sure before posting that, and I can't find anything on Mass Effect 2/3 for Macs. Did you play it on Wine or something similar? I can confirm via Amazon that it's not available on Mac, and they have every version available- PC boxed copy, PC download, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U. They even have the different editions. Yet no Mac version. Here's a post on the Bioware forums confirming no Mac versions.
Here's MacRumors' thread for a possible rumor on the Mass Effect series getting a port to Mac, but they shut it down too.
Further, Googling "Mass Effect on Mac" returns a bunch of forumn questions, but no links to retail sites or download sites. Conversely, Googling "Mass Effect 3" gets you links for Gamestop, EA, and Amazon, all on the first page.
Methinks maybe there is no actual Mac port of Mass Effect 2/3, and maybe you just played the series in wrappers like Wine?
Also, you didn't play a port of Skyrim on Mac, you played Skyrim in a wrapper. There is a big difference- official dev support, DLC, mods, updates, performance differences, etc. As OSX Daily notes, it *"runs a lot better in Windows natively"
if you plug a pad into a pc do you get aim assist like on consoles?
have you ever looked for a BED DESK?
Or this one xD
This is my peronal fave so far, The "SONGMICS Bamboo Adjustable Lap Desk Foldable Breakfast Serving Bed Tray Tilting Top Drawer" amazing.
Well we PC guys sometimes have to just make do with what we have on hand while we save up money for what we need, but, if you really want to get efficient I'd suggest one of these maybe on some sort of custom wooden platform. Desk height and all that.
I finally have time to upload a bunch of pictures from Paris's Musee d'armee.
For some reason, the camera took terrible pictures indoors. Suffice to say, I got a new camera after this trip.
I studied history in college and found this book to be the best resource on WW1.. A World Undone by GJ Meyer. Easy to read and isn't dull like some history books can be.
Haha, you're welcome.
I bought this one
https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-SH2-Channel-Sound/dp/B01E57NCEO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472755054&sr=8-1&keywords=LG+speaker+bar
really like it so far, used the optic cable and hooked it right into my xbox.
My friend uses the Logitech G430's and he sounds completely fine quality wise. I can't comment on the audio quality since I've never used the headset myself, though.
I picked up this for 10 bucks at a GameStop (one that was surprisingly selling a lot of PC games, maybe it's just me but I rarely see that anymore)about 2 years ago. Of course, judging from the Amazon pricing it's hard to find a reasonably priced copy of that particular collection, and you are looking for a downloadable copy anyway, right? If you are willing to settle for a disk copy (I haven't seen 1942/Vietnam up for download anywhere, sorry. I honestly don't think you will find a downloadable, legal copy), you could get this and this for 25 bucks.
Go forth my friend and enjoy this journey.

Matimio needs to learn some history about the tanks in WW1.
This book perhaps:
https://www.amazon.com/Great-Book-Tanks-Important-Present/dp/0760314756
There are many others.
The WW1 ones were quite ineffective, and could only make a substantial difference if used in coordination and with fairly large numbers of tanks and infantry. Something the Germans quickly understood for their future development of the Blitzkrieg doctrine.
The germans werent afraid of them after the initial experience, their drawbacks were numerous and their advantages could be counted on one hand. Well placed artillery and grenades took them out fast.
Matimio is like ''omg you guys the first tanks drove fear into the enemy yea they should feel and be OP because tanks!!''.
Well no, that's not how it works.
The logic of "its supposed to be powerful because its a tank" is ridiculous when you talk about a game environment that intricately tries to balance infantry weapons, but then, according to Matimio's logic suddenly turns a blind eye to the vehicles in order to make them powerful and overpowered and whatnot ''because they are tanks''.
But tanks should be balanced, not overpowered in that sense. I hope DICE put enough counters on the map in the form of bombers or heavy artillery -not the stationary always-spawned-in-the-same-place AT guns that will be useless against competent tankers- or something to take camping tanks out, as infantry cant close the gap and the AT rifles are not damaging enough on large distances.
its ok guys, they gave us a good deal for canadians on amazon anyways.
https://www.amazon.ca/Battlefield-1-PlayStation-4-Standard/dp/B01F9HMO2K
All the triggered people can buy these while the rest of us are enjoying another fun Battlefield game
I looked at my account and they refunded my purchase yesterday.
Apparently my credit card info expired after I had placed the preorder and they were unable to bill for it.
I ended up buying it on Amazon instead: http://amzn.com/B00BXONG7G
How is this brigading? I can provide more academic sources if needed.

The Clean Wehrmacht myth is a well documented fact in history academica. I just generally start off with a wiki article as they are easy to read and the sources for it are found at the bottom of the page if you want to verify it. No one is saying all or even half of the Wehrmacht were members of the Nazi Party. Quite the opposite, the entire point is that just because you weren't a card carrying member, doesn't mean they didn't do just as bad and sometimes worse things in the name of Nazism.
