I also run this Derale Thermostat because it gets really cold up here and I don't want to over cool the transmission

I no longer run the cooler inside the radiator as I find it rather pointless and since I've setup my trans cooling this way I now have way better shifting in the morning when its warming up and better shifting once it has warmed up. This also frees up the radiator from having to cool both the trans and engine so all the radiator cooling is dedicated to the engine.

Primitive spacers are actually made out of hdpe too. I forgot to take pictures but it was super easy and they look great. I bought a 2 foot sheet here (they have different sizes and thicknesses as well) and just drew on the template, cut the outside with a jigsaw, drilled the stud holes out, and then started the middle hole with a big drill bit and finished with the jigsaw again.

I got mine from Amazon. It was a bit pricey, but it has a single hydraulic arm and love the latch design. Although it does seem flimsy when opening, but pretty strong with heavy recovery crap in it. Some drilling required.

The light bar is great! Just happens that the fit between the basket I got and the roof of the car is a perfect fit for my light bar. It fits snug so all it's held on by is 2 zip ties on each end looped to the basket!

And as far as the basket goes it's a Rooftop Cargo Carrier (44" x 35" X 4 – 1/4") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AQ2D4C8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fUF.yb7FR7VKW.

Yeah, that one is a little expensive, but it seems like it's one of the best. This one is half the price, but it's a little short, so it might rub agains your bumper. I haven't installed my hitch yet, so I can't say for sure

edit: they do say "not for towing", so use it at your own risk haha

It looks like you may need to run a longer trailing arm in the back if you're going to fit a bigger tire. I can't quite tell from the picture.

Where will you be offroading? What sort of temperatures will you be driving in and what sort of terrain?

I personally think that the Toyo Open Country A/T II is a fantastic tire on and off road. I run them on my 1966 Land Rover and my mom runs them on her Rav 4. Excellent ride and grip when aired down to 18psi on a trail. I think they come in a 225/70/R16 which might fit your outback, I'm not sure. You might need a 215.

You could also check out Nokian hakkapeliitta R2, 215/65r16. I've heard rave things. I believe my dad has a set on our Honda Fit, and it rallies through deep snow and icy hills no problem.

Radio Coaxial Mount Antenna Spring
The mounting location is actually really nice, and it was very easy to set up. If you want a more detailed explanation, I'd be happy to give one.

There's a local junkyard/parts place near where I live. I got it for free because I know the guy who owns the place, but I'd just look at your local junkyard for a wrecked Outback! :)

Here's the tow ring! I had to do a tiny amount of cutting to get it to fit just right, but that wasn't too bad.

Low miles and no salt? Nice, your stock suspension parts should last quite a while more! I had the front CVs replaced when I had the lift put in, not sure what the mechanic put in, but they lasted until not too long ago. I replaced the front and back with Cardone HD axles, which have been no trouble, currently have about 3k miles on them now.

-My lift is actually just the strut spacers, I didn't get the kit with the trailing arm/sub frame spacers. Looking back, I wish I did since my rear wheels aren't centered in the wheel well. Eventually I'll get those spacers and correct this.

-Tires are General Grabber AT2, sizing is 215/65R16. My next set will be just a titch larger, at 215/70R16. You can even fit 29" tires if your brave and want to do a bit of fender trimming! ;)

-No brackets or anything for the brake lines. But if you have them already, I'd say its a good idea to throw them on. I'll probably do the same eventually too.

That galvanized toggle clamp isn't going to look nice for very long, but otherwise, it looks good. It'd be nice to find a stainless alternative to use.

Got them from Amazon at about $10 each. I have a ton of these lights and they work great. They are pretty durable and out of the 9 that I have, only one of them has had a single LED go out. So not bad at all!

u/SasquatchSC · 2 pointsr/battlewagon

I got mine from an outfitter, but I here is the first result I found on Amazon for similar ones.
That should at least give you a starting point. You can definitely do a permanent install on them. I just like to store them away when I'm not using them. Plus I have used them away from the car - a few times on the boat, and I even had one I put on the roof of my house to spotlight some asshole kid that kept driving through with his music so loud it was rattling my windows. Hit him with a spotlight out of nowhere at the stop sign four or five times and he gets the message.

Nice! I went with these and they’ve been great:

My total investment in it was $26 for the [light bar] (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WE47FVM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and $12 for the [wiring harness] (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0155W7EDS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It took about an hour to install not knowing quite what I was doing. You can assign the value of looks & functionality/use. I agree it looks great, and I use it semi-often on gravel roads and off road situations.

Thank you! It is the reese roof rack that they sell at walmart, it is the exact same as the highland basket on amazonhttps://www.amazon.com/Highland-1041900-U-Venture-Rooftop-Basket/dp/B007GMHTQ8/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1517982561&sr=8-9&keywords=cargo+basket it's just rebranded. I was reluctant to purchase at first but risked it since I could just return it to walmart if I didn't like it but I was really pleasantly surprised for $100 it is everything I need.

u/injulen · 2 pointsr/battlewagon

They are indeed identical. Josh bought his from Walmart, it is branded as a Reese Carry Power I believe and was about $99. I purchased mine through Amazon for ~$80, this is the link: https://www.amazon.com/Highland-1041900-U-Venture-Rooftop-Basket/dp/B007GMHTQ8
