It was a bit like a cross between a non-imperial stout and a quad. That's a good way to put it, though I think that he was probably going more for a cross between a stout and a strong saison. It just didn't quite get to saison territory for me.

Siphon is basically immersion brewing (like AeroPress or Moka) but you get almost no sediment and it's just a really clean flavor. Plus it looks really cool. Cleanup is simple.
Some kind of neoprene sleeve. Of course it would be cylindrical, open at the bottom and top, tapered towards the top and a slit for the handle. Keep it cool and protected.

Plus, I have a beer pub (The Flying Saucer) that I frequent that has a brewery night where you drink the beer and get to keep the glass. That's where I wound up getting most of the 90+ glasses I have.

I think what helped us the most was mixing it with a power drill, doing it in three thin layers, forcing out the bubbles with a heat gun, and letting each layer dry over the course of a week or so before adding the next.
