Affordable is relative, but nothing good comes cheap.

The top of the mountain is Tomenosuke. Their blaster replicas are the best, but their price and availability reflect that. They do limited runs, and they sell out quickly.

Sometimes you can find them on eBay, but the price is usually somewhere in the $1-2K range.

They do offer very high quality kits, but at $599 they aren't cheap and they are VERY hard to get your hands on them. But this is hands down your best option for quality vs price.

For about half the price of a Tomenosuke kit, you might find one of the Off-World Manufacturing props. They aren't bad at all, but they are pretty expensive for what you get, and they feel like a toy in your hand. They're also hard to find now. Sometimes you can find them on eBay. Hell, I've got one- make me an offer.

From there, your next option is to get a kit with parts molded from either a replica or stunt prop. This is sort of hit or miss, as the quality of the molded pieces can vary wildly. Expect bubbles, maybe misshapen pieces. They are a good option if you have the skills and initiative to DIY and make a decent prop.

The absolute rock-bottom priced option is to get this $9.99 toy that was obviously based on the Blade Runner blaster.

It has been a popular choice for propmakers on a budget. With some putty, patience and paint you can have a passable prop. Or for $9.99 you can have a toy that sort of looks like what you're looking for.

So sorry- that's as good as it gets. I was in the same boat you are and I did a lot of homework and found that there isn't really any cheap way to get one of these that's worth a damn.

I got one of the Off-World ones, and it's OK. But then I wound up getting a custom one that was made by Richard A Coyle and I've been pretty happy with it. It's legit, metal, made from the same materials as the original and it looks and feels great.

But I'm old. And I'm financially in a place where I can buy something like this to scratch that itch I've had since I was a kid. Just don't tell my wife. She'd kill me :)

EDIT: HERE'S AN UPDATE FOR YA, OP

I found an option for you that is probably the best bang for your buck:

A Daiki Kogyo version for $199

Since OP will not deliver, I will do my best to contribute. Here's a summary of the book:

>In 1982, to coincide with Blade Runner's original release, Cinefex, the respected magazine devoted to movie design and special effects devoted an entire, extended issue to Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece. That issue has been out of print since then, but in constant demand -- copies now sell on the collector's market for over USD100. Titan Books is proud to bring this classic back into print, in a remastered hardcover edition. Described as 'the single most comprehensive examination of Blade Runner's special effects', this must-have book contains scores of images not available elsewhere, as well as authoritative text, containing in-depth, exclusive interviews with director Ridley Scott and the legendary designer Syd Mead.

As of this posting, the book is $39 on Amazon. Its price has been as low as $16.29, but not for a while.

That's what I bought. For like 12 bucks on Deepdiscount.

They don't seem to have it any more, but it has more special features and such than I'll ever have time to watch.

I'm sure the one jack posted will have even more doodads (maybe).

Try to catch it on sale from Amazon UK. You can usually get free shipping and incredible discounts. I do it all the time for nice steelboxes.

There is a third comic that has both of these combined: The Marvel Super Special Blade Runner.

Marvel Super Special Blade Runner

Well, it's always going to be controversial.

According to Ridley Scott, Deckard IS a Replicant, and over the years, he's released two cuts of the film to move towards making this more explicitly unambiguous.

According to several other key creative minds on the film, including the producer, the writers, and the main actor, it was always meant to be left subtle and ambiguous.

According to me, I much prefer the film with it left ambiguous.

I think it has a much more interesting meaning and purpose to it that way, and is just a better film, frankly. Ridley is known for being a stubborn old goat who domineers all he surveys, but he ain't the boss of me, and I think he's just plain wrong.

Anyway, over the years, I have seen so many various cuts and alternate scenes and versions (such as the megacut on Disc 4 of the box set) that Blade Runner has kind of become the ultimate Phil Dick movie, in that it exists in several different self-contradictory forms simultaneously in a way that is both nonsensical and impossible, very much like the plots of many of his books. I find that to be the greatest tribute to PDK of all (even if it is the unintentional result of a notoriously volatile production).

I can't recommend reading Paul M Sammon's Future Noir highly enough, if you have any interest in this subject.

Edit: Newer link. Looks like even books get a 'Final Cut' nowadays.

Thanks for the feedback! I bought it about a month ago online on Amazon. Even though it shipped internationally, I received it in just 3 days (which was about three days sooner than what the estimate told me).

The colors are off a bit from K's real coat, but under the right lighting, it was perfect enough for me.

The next release appears to be the first collected paperback volume.

It's such an engaging story, I certainly hope we get more. I haven't seen that much discussion surrounding the comic run around the net.

Thinkgeek used to sell them, I bought one for someone as a gift years ago, but I don't see them on their site any more (plus they're shutting down).

Amazon has some, might be listed as a light saber umbrella, like this one:

That got me on the right track. This one is perfect, thank you!

That would be a copyright violation. Plus, it's a good book. Support the author by buying it. It's not expensive and can be easily bought from amazon.

I am talking about this one

but thanks for the reply.

It reached out to a seller or two and they confimed it should be factory sealed.

This is the best coat seam for seam. However it has a belt and the collar doesn't go as high and close as his in the movie.

There is a popular fan theory reinforced by Future Noir author Paul Sammon that implies Deckard is actually a Nexus 7 series replicant model which possess "no superhuman strength or intelligence but neurological features that complete the human illusion." Source

u/vwhaulic · 3 pointsr/bladerunner

Thanks! You can buy the replica here

u/SomnusInterruptus · 1 pointr/bladerunner

Just ordered these off Amazon - cheapest I've seen in a long time (the italian crystal ones were like 150 bucks!)

u/total_revoice · 1 pointr/bladerunner

Strange. Every online store says this won’t be released until November 19. Like Amazon, here. Has anyone actually found and bought this online?

u/AndreyTsvetkov · 4 pointsr/bladerunner

It says here that the release date is in november , but I don't know if its legit though. A pre-order on Amaznon should be legit ?

u/adashiel · 2 pointsr/bladerunner

I think it was just the 1st edition that was out of print for so long. There was a second edition -- that I never picked up -- that came out for the 25th anniversary ten years ago. It must have also gone out of print at some point, as I'm actually having more difficulty finding a copy of that than the original edition.

I don't know how likely it will happen, but there is a link on the book's Amazon listing to request an ebook. You'll probably have to scroll down and it will be on the right side and have a picture of a kindle.
