I'm really confused with this comment... I got the same skate tool with my stealth and my Mini X. It has the hex key (the stick), the L shaped smaller hex key, and the third (larger) piece that the stick is housed in. The larger piece has 2 hex sockets, one on each end... and it fits the wheel nut perfectly. THe larger (other) side of it fits the kingpin nut perfectly. The little L shaped hex key fits the brackets for wheel cover's 2 screws.

The setup was identical on both boards. It comes with everything you need to change the wheels and the belts. The stealth even came with spare belts, though my Mini X did not. Hit me up if you have questions brother, you should be good to go for changing out the wheels.

If you want to buy the same exact tool that they advertise the process with on their videos:

The quality on all of those is fantastic. Lastly, I highly recommend a bit of Frog Lube paste for your pivot cup and bushings, just a very thin coat will lubricate your trucks for buttery smooth turns, and it smells like wintergreen lifesavers. :)

Yes, I know what Froglube was made for, it also happens to be a perfect product for skate applications LOL. Active duty Marine, had a lot in stock and needed a basic lubricant for those pivot cups. It was like the stuff was made for this!

I see. As long as she knows that it will be far more comfortable after practice than her first time on a board, 5-10 minutes should suffice to get a feel for a board for the first time. If you go the route of getting a regular push longboard to practice, I HIGHLY recommend this board (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BB07Q2I/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488166840&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=globe+spearpoint+longboard). Far less flex than boosted, but amazing quality for the price. I still have mine and absolutely LOVE it. But, remember to get a good helmet, or if could end very badly. Hopefully this was helpful information for you! Also, sorry for not saying it in the first post, but congratulations!

  1. It's rare that you will need to replace them ( many go hundreds of miles with no issues ), but a random stray rock or something can tear them sooner. You can pick extra sets up from here: https://www.royalsupply.com/store/pc/Gates-225-3MGT-15-PowerGrip-GT3-Synchronous-Belt-9400-5075-p17363.htm
  2. The wheels handle pretty much everything you throw at them.
  3. The grip tape will last years as long as you take care of it. Pick up some abrasive cleaner and clean it on occasion. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AJW0CY8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As far as remote disconnections with the V2, I've never had it lose connection once.
The only other suggestions I would have are to pick up some bash guards from flatland-3D to preserve the ends of your board, and compressed air to clean hard to reach areas on the board.
    Hope that helped! Have fun!

After riding 2,500 miles between my two boards, here are the accessories I bring with me on every ride:

GoPro Hero Session camera: On two occasions I have been assaulted by people in cars while commuting home. They threw an egg and some water at me. After the first incident, I purchased this camera and started riding with it facing behind me. When the second assault occurred, I was able to grab the license plate # from the video footage and got the culprits in trouble with the police.

Fingerless gloves: When you fall off your board, which you surely will if you ride any significant distance, the first part of your body to hit the pavement will probably be the palms of your hands as you catch yourself. Removing the skin from your hands feels terrible, even on small falls. Wearing these gloves provides an extra layer to rub off when you hit the pavement. Make sure you wear fingerless gloves though because full-fingered gloves make it extremely difficult to operate the remote control.

Flatland 3D bash guard and remote ring: These two accessories changed my boarding life completely. Definitely put a bash guard on the tail of your board to prevent the ground from chewing up the tail every time you bring your board vertical. Don't waste your time putting on a nose guard because they don't serve a purpose. The nose of my board never touches anything except my hands and having a guard there makes it more uncomfortable/difficult to handle the nose of the board. When it comes to the remote ring, I cannot recommend this accessory highly enough. Sure, putting a Nintendo Wii remote strap on your Boosted remote will keep it from dropping to the ground. On the other hand, the Flatland 3D remote ring keeps the remote snugly embedded in the palm of your hand even if you fully open your hand and spread all of your fingers. I've even completely fallen off my board and hit the ground without losing grip of my remote. The remote ring is a true game-changer.

A headlamp: A headlamp??? Yes, a headlamp. Why? Well, riding a skateboard at night is one of the most terrifying activities known to man. Any unexpected bumps, cracks, or rocks can send you flying. With a headlamp, you can wear it like a garter around your thigh. This gives the light a perfect vantage point to light up the pavement in front of you. I've used this light in particular to commute at night for a couple years and it works excellently. Light & Motion makes the best lights I've ever used. The build quality is unmatched and their customer service is top notch.

Clear biking glasses: Riding without something over my eyes is very difficult. Dust from the road and insects from the air frequently fly into my eyes unless I am wearing some form of protection. During the day, any pair of sunglasses work fine. However, at night a pair of shades is not a good idea. Instead, I purchased some biking glasses from Smith Optics. This model comes with several lenses: smoke, rose, and clear.

Small towels: If you ride your board any farther than a mile in a single ride, especially if you commute in a city, you will find the bottom of your board covered in dust, muck, and liquids at the end of your ride. Folding a small towel and sticking it in my back pocket has saved me from countless headaches. Instead of getting to my destination with a board dripping with garbage truck juice or covered in mud, I am able to quickly wipe down the bottom of my board so I don't get my hands and clothing dirty. In addition, if I spill anything else on myself while I'm out, I have a handy rag I can quickly utilize. These towels are so cheap that I don't feel bad throwing them away if I trash them.

LED waist belt: When riding at night, being visible is one of the keys to safety. While your garter headband works great to light the path in front of you, this LED waist band makes you much more visible to vehicles approaching you from behind.

A helmet: These protect your noggin. I haven't found a helmet I love yet, but this one does have the best chinstrap I've ever seen. It's magnetic, which means it's impossible to pinch the skin under your chin when putting on the helmet!

u/graydoubt · 4 pointsr/boostedboards

Just one, I had bought a bunch of light up junk totally unrelated for a silly race, and it happened to fit perfectly around the board. Well, perfectly around my board, with those particular bash guards on.

I folded the light strip in half, marked it, taped it center front (just to hold it in place), and put the bash guard over it to lock it into place.

With the hot glue gun, I did one small section at a time. One squeeze of the trigger worth, and then pushed the light strip into it all the way, so it made good contact with the board. Don't try to smooth it like caulk, it'll get weird.

The light strip ends just as it reaches the rear bash guard with about 1 cm space left on each side. So whether or not it looks even depends on how well you centered the whole thing.

With the head and tail light on, it looks pretty good, I think. I Prime Now'd the same Blitzu bike tail light from another post on here that I can't find at the moment. And then ordered the headlight that I figured might fit on the front truck. It does. Barely. Sort of. If you turn hard, you might into some issues. I have yet to really test that before I get a second one. The neat thing is that the headlight(s) now point into the direction I'm turning.

A few more photos of various angles.

Thanks!

Definitely not 550 lumens. Reviews say battery life is bad, but i feel like the low mode is enough to be seen, and medium if you want a little more light for your path.

I got these as well, and with 2 1" clamps on each side in the front (4 total), it'll hold perfectly fine, and they are BRIGHT in the brightest setting. They use rechargeable 18650s and have awesome battery life for the lower modes, which youd use for the board, anyway. I dont use these right now because they protrude further than the bash guards, defeating the purpose :p -- and slightly heavier, but overall the total weight is probably inconsequential.

Alternatively, any other light will work if clamped to the trucks, and a tactical light with a strike bezel could probably be used in place of the bash guards anyway :p

From left to right, the boards are the Tan Tien, Dervish Sama, Icarus, and the Boosted Board. Tan Tien and Dervish Sama are more of my cruising boards with the Icarus a carving board. I mostly ride the Dervish and my wife rides the Tan Tien (since it's smaller). Also bought and returned the Loaded Overland (didn't like it as much)

The stands are the guitar stands from Amazon mentioned here a lot. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LBKFYUO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I tried out different trucks and wheels and found the orangatang 80a to be the best for me (same as on the Boosted Board). The 2 on the left have Caliber II trucks. I like the Caliber trucks since they spring back to neutral position quickly which is great for cruising and is very stable. The Icarus is meant for carving so it has looser Paris v2 trucks. I tried the 80mm Orangatang Kegal wheels on these boards and always managed to get wheelbite (and thus crashing) so I went with 70mm wheels and can ride without worrying

Nose and tail guards also from Amazon. Highly recommended as these went flying into the curb a few times and no damage to the board: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XGJ8PHM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hope this helps!

It’s actually a cheap $12 guitar mount, purchased from Amazon.com. It was suggested to me from a video or blog I encountered, which listed it as one of the best accessories for Boosted Boards. It’s a guitar stand, but it works perfectly for Boosted Boards. Link to the product on Amazon is below...

I'm running MBS 100mm wheels on mine and I love it. Those wheels are better suited to higher speed in uneven surfaces due to convex profile. Less effective in carving perfectly smooth surfaces than Kegel, but in speeds around 20mph MBS wheels feel great. The top speed is around 26mph with a hit on accel and brake distance. I got used to it.

Here's what I have-

Backpack: https://www.dakine.com/en-us/bags/backpacks/street-backpacks/mission-25l-backpack-17w/

Helmet: https://triple8.com/product/the-certified-sweatsaver/?category_name=skate

Pads: https://triple8.com/product/saver-series-3-pack-box/?category_name=skate

I only used all of the pads for about the first week or so, but I still wear the wrist guards-they've prevented serious injuries!

Board light (tail of the board): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015IEJ0GC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Board light #2 (front of the board): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015IFA03I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Front Backpack light (goes on my backpack strap, or hooked to my jacket on my forward facing shoulder): https://www.olightstore.com/h1r-cool-white.html

Back Backpack light (goes around my backpack): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N1SM2NQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The board lights aren't super bright, they're mostly so people can see what I'm riding. The O light makes riding at night very safe, and my back light has great visibility.

As for tools, I carry my skate tool and a couple of hexes, and some spare belts. I have a charger I leave in my office and one in my backpack all the time.

Hope this helps!

I think it's this one- I bought it in anticipation of getting my board soon. So while I can't say how it holds up with a BB on it, it definitely seems pretty sturdy and like it will do a great job.

It reminds me of Board Bag

  • Similar profile
  • Similar features

I'm not a huge fan of Boosted board bags that are in the shape of the board (thin around the deck but thick around the wheels).

I occasionally fly with my Boosted board and having a bag that's thinner around the deck but thicker around the wheels feels like wasted space to me. If it was a consistent thickness all the way through, I could pack clothes or other things under the board. For anyone with a similar issue, I'd HIGHLY recommend the Orion 15161. I'm a very light packer and this + a backpack are the only bags I take when I fly.

If you (u/brdbag) were to make a bag like that, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (or even slightly thicker so you could pack more things?)

EDIT: picture of the orion bag with a boosted board inside. Not my picture.

hi there, just wanna share of my thoughts

  1. theres a tutorial for belts from official boostedboards youtube channel, you should check them out, basically dont to over tighten or have it to loose, indication the belt is to loose, is when you push the brake hard, you'll hear the belt slips
  2. bushing is used for your skateboard / longboard trucks to be able to maneuver / pivot (turning left / right) there are many type of bushing, please choose it based on your riding style (carving, down hill) etc, please see the link below to give you more understanding about bushing selection

    http://www.riptidesports.com/info-charts-guides/

    http://www.riptidesports.com/bushing-shapes-info-guide-1/

my recommendation for boostedboards trucks is to use orangatang nipples, you can choose the type based on your weight

  3. here's the tools that you should have

u/Boostedubz · 2 pointsr/boostedboards

I would avoid purchasing any accessories now that require power from the port. Right now, there are too many variables to buy any accessories that may require power from the accessory port such as headlights, etc., but you can get those once the port is revealed. To my knowledge, their are no backpacks that can carry the board. You can, however, slide your boosted board through the 2 straps on a regular backpack wheel-side facing your back and then put the backpack on to carry it around. A good option for a wall mount would be this: https://www.amazon.com/Tornado-00520-Large-J-Hook/dp/B0050PLCUW?ie=UTF8&redirect=true If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

u/MillWiller · 1 pointr/boostedboards

Full face helmet is unnecessary imo, particularly if you have some decent longboarding skills already. Need to know the basics regarding how to fall to keep yourself from landing on your face and hands. I feel that a huge ff helmet would be both unnatural to wear while riding and cumbersome once you get wherever youre going. If you do though, more power to you; you will be safer than I.

I recently got a Bern Macon helmet, which I like a lot:
https://www.amazon.com/2016-Macon-Summer-Matte-Black/dp/B00FL7FZMA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1465513659&sr=8-1&keywords=bern+macon

Because most airlines consider it an "oversized" item and require it be checked.
Speaking very generally, generally, airlines require anything outside 22x14x9 be checked.
TSA has seen enough of them come through that at least one agent will know what it is and that it's allowed. Sometimes they open the bag and swab the board. Don't ask me why...
I've carried mine on with me many times using the case below. It's a great way to get out and see a new city. Burbank, CA was great on the BB. Washington DC was a mix of intolerant and bewildered by it.

I'm not so interested in a travel bag as much as a daily commute bag. I use this one https://www.amazon.com/Orion-15161-39x9-5x11-Padded-Telescope/dp/B0000XMTRE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1466539147&sr=8-5&keywords=telescope+bag, and while it's a decent bag because it can fit my helmet and a few other things too, it is lightly padded, and it has held up pretty well for over a year, it doesn't have backpack straps. And the problem with this bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y8T0XR4/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_tBiAxb3WM65D1 is that it can't also fit a helmet.

So how about something that takes the best features of both.

There's probably vids on YouTube for what's acceptable noise and change noises. I have been running stock bearings on the drive wheels and zealous on front for over 600mi on the v1 and about 200 mi on the v2. Put them in when I got the boards and haven't changed since.

Apparently it previously did, but MBS changed their core design. I was advised by SR that I can make the conversion kit pulleys fit by slightly filing down the pieces that fit into the wheel core) but I assume that might make it an insecure fit for their wheels such as the Foamies.

Recently got this and it works awesome!!

I had dried bourbon (don’t ask) that I thought stained the grip tape but this pulled it right off.

I believe you would want these ones instead in order to fit the wheels: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050PLCUW

Get this (same as Grip Gum) to clean the grip tape: http://amzn.to/2qu0iSr

You just run it over the grip tape like an eraser and it removes embedded dirt.

I've read about people using this one and I'm actually considering it for myself. However, I don't plan on traveling with my board much so let us know if you find something cheaper. https://www.amazon.com/Boosted-Board-Skateboard-Custom-Travel/dp/B00Y8T0XR4

Most people tend to suggest this one here
But personally I prefer the rifle cases way more and will be getting this one as soon as I get my V2!

Leaving this here in case anyone needs a more accessible option:

I do believe some people have used these:

Do note that these are the large j hooks. Tornado sells a smaller one which I don't think clears the boosted's wheels.

I kind of assumed he'd use a belt sander cleaning block like this, which is basically just a big eraser. That's what I did before I sold my Landyachtz Evo.
