The Waterpik doesn't replace flossing. It's really helpful to clean food out after you eat, but is supplemental to actual physical flossing. I'm also not sure if it's just me, but the Waterpik doesn't always remove all food either. I always go back through with either floss or an interdental brush afterwards to make sure I get everything out.

I know a lot of people like the floss picks, but I never liked them even when I didn't have braces. I find them harder to use than just regular floss. I use Oral-B Satin Floss: https://www.amazon.com/Oral-B-Complete-Satin-Dental-Floss/dp/B009H17ODE. I learned how to floss without using floss threaders or any other special braces-specific tools. I figured out it was more efficient to floss and made it more likely for me to stick with flossing regularly if I tried to make flossing with braces as close to my flossing routine used to be without braces.

I use floss picks that are designed for braces. I order these from Amazon. I also will use easy brush interdental cleaners. The easy brushes are my favorite because they are quick and easy to do between classes and are a bit more discrete than brushing with toothpaste and a toothbrush. These you can pick up at most grocery or convenience stores.

Edit: Added where I buy my favorite products.

I bought the Oral-B Pro 7000. It comes with a few different brush heads, a nice case to put them in, a water proof timer, and it's a rechargeable Bluetooth toothbrush.

It's worked pretty well for me, and if you buy it from Amazon you can save $20 right now.

I had a routine when I first got them. But after about 2 months I gave up...
My routine now is
Morning: waterpik, brush, mouthwash
I don’t brush after every meal
Night: waterpik, brush, mouthwash
And about twice a week I’ll use charcoal powder...

What I use:
•Pursonic S625 Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush and Rechargeable Water Flosser with 12 Brush Heads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BE3I968?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
•Active Wow Teeth Whitening Charcoal Powder Natural https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N8XF244?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
• Colgate total whitening
•Colgate total clean mint
•Colgate Optic White
• Listerine Cool Mint

Do you use soft dental brushes? Like these? They should be small enough to get under the wire and help clean anything before it gets stuck again. You may need to have a professional do a through cleaning, but then use these to maintain that clean. I use them all the time to get food out from under my archwire or power chain. So. Helpful.

I have this one: Water Pik Water Flosser
I would also emphasize it does not replace flossing as my orthodontist repeats to me every time I visit.
This is the best dental floss, great with braces: Oral B Satin Floss

ACT Braces Care Ant-Cavity Fluoride Mouthwash, Clean Mint, 18 Ounce (Pack of 3) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U1RYBL6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_FkSxDbVVJH7ZQ though any good fluoride mouthwash that’s not a whitening one would work.

I got this one and I love it! The middle image is what it looks like folded up and it comes with a carrying case.

I got the WaterPik brand with multiple attachment including one recommended for braces. It was like $30 on amazon, such a life saver!

15 minutes is normal at first. Get one of those floss threaders like this one they sell them everywhere at drugstores and other places. That one is a lifesaver when you first get your braces. Brush and floss every day, at least twice a day. Use mouthwash too. Get a waterpik if you can that one also does wonders.

I recommend you speak with a specialist. Plus you could read this book! It's very helpful: https://www.amazon.com/Six-Foot-Tiger-Three-Foot-Cage-Charge/dp/1944177590

To be honest, my cordless waterpik isn't that great and I end up using proxy brushes when I'm not home, I don't feel like the pressure is good enough for what I want. I have a corded waterpik at home and I use it every time I eat something. But, the cordless waterpik I have is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UWAWQU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I don't suffer from migraines, but I do know for headaches that the only thing that works for me is excedrin, I would recommend trying their migraine version if you haven't.

There's a product called "Retainer Brite" that I have seen mentioned around that works pretty well.

Oral B makes a floss similar to Superfloss but it is the Glide floss. It has the waxed ends and is my favorite for overcrowding. https://www.amazon.com/Oral-B-Glide-Pro-Health-Threader-Floss/dp/B000GGJCDY
My teeth are too crowded and tight for the floss piks specifically made for braces and I also found SuperFloss to be too thick. Alternatively, there are plastic threaders you can use with your normal floss. It takes more time but works. https://www.amazon.com/GUM-Eez-Thru-Floss-Threaders-Each/dp/B000GGJCDO/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=plastic+floss+threader&qid=1555263723&s=beauty&sr=1-8

I bought these floss fish thingies that work great and are really cheap. They slide between the wire and the tooth. Flossing is really fast with these except I do have a couple of spots where I can't fit the device.
