I'm just going to leave a shameless plug for my book that I JUST self-published today, called Undergrad Elementalist. It's about a girl who goes off to college and gets recruited into the school's magic club, basically. I started writing it almost ten years ago, and just recently was inspired to finally finish it. I think if you enjoyed The Magicians, you'll probably enjoy this. Right now it's just the Kindle version, but hopefully in the next few days I'll have the print-on-demand version available as well!

I may or may not have the Omnibus edition of this series on my bookshelf. =)

My wife noticed that Q's cover there is the current cover for Book 1 (US Kindle ed.) and Julia's is like a full saturation version of the cover for Book 2.

I work for a publisher and my first thought was that Viking/Penguin books stopped producing the box set, so a decrease in the supply would increase the price.

But after a little more research, I'm guessing it's because Amazon's pricing fluctuates quite a bit. It may have been cheaper when you purchased it because they were running a promo or they were competing with another site's marked down price.

I did find this listing for 38 which is closer to what you originally paid.

There's Alice's Story, which came out in July. https://www.amazon.com/Magicians-Original-Graphic-Novel-Alices/dp/1684150213

Then there's the BOOM! series that came out this month, and you can only get it at comic book stores. https://www.previewsworld.com/Article/235989-BOOM-Shares-First-Look-at-Lev-Grossmans-The-Magicians-1

This book is not written by Lev Grossman. Found the amazon page for hard cover - cheaper than the kindle edition.

Just out of curiosity, is the show not legally available where you live?

If you're in Canada, theres Showcase On Demand. You can also find it on iTunes (at 3$ an episode). If you're in the US, you can watch it online at Syfy.com if you have a cable service to sign in with. It's, also, on the US iTunes (for 3 USD). Not to mention, you can find it on Amazon.

There are many ways to legally watch the show. This sends, at least, some money their way and gives them a viewership statistic which would otherwise be hidden from them when you torrent. Shows survive on viewership numbers.
