Oh my god, I think color correcting is my calling. I posted in MUA a few months ago about my color correcting B/A (link here) and I'm a huge advocate of drugstore makeup.
These are my lifesaving products- keep in mind that although I am a medium/deep (tan) skin tone, the following correctors can work wonders for darker and lighter skin tones.
These products may be cheap, but the amount of correction to the face is astounding.
The first product is something I use everyday. I take about half a pump onto the back of my hand and go around my undereye/eye area, my muzzle discoloration and my hyperpigmented birthmarks on my face. A light, targeted layer of this instantly brightens the skin, and often times it will be enough after foundation to cancel out discoloration.
For days where I have slept less, or woken up after being dehydrated, the orange pot concealer is my best friend. I will blend this orange with a lighter skin tone concealer from the palette to create a custom correcting shade for concealing. The palette also has some peach-y tones but I find they are too light for me. When mixed, the concealer becomes this beautiful smooth and creamy formula that can be layered (lightly!) to avoid creasing, but to create a flawless finish. That concealer palette is also incredibly helpful for contouring/highlighting.
My next color correcting investments will be these products:
Destiney Godley has a great video where she uses this and loves it, so I'm pretty stoked to get it.
If you have any questions please please please let me know! I'm by no means an expert, but I do this every single time I wear makeup, and I've only gotten better at it! :)
I'm something like an NC35, and I have translucent skin. Something that works well for me for getting coverage is to use a Korean BB cream as a base, and then do a mix of primer, moisturizer, and liquid foundation over, and finish with a mineral powder.
I really like Skin79 Super BB cream; the hot pink formula and also the orange formula are good ones.
Be aware--it does not take much at all to do your whole face, maybe half a pump at most. It will go on really chalky-white, but you have to let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then keep blending it, and it will become more clear.
Here's a few people I found wearing brighter reds:

Here are a few products that might do it for you:
Revlon $7 - looks darker in the pic than it actually is
Avon
Wet n Wild $2 - wears more like a stain than a lipstick
Amazon! and theyre pretty deep for acryllic units at that price point
Thanks! Any recs on concealer? I currently use the Garnier Skin Renew Anti Dark Eye Roller: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003RF82RI/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My skin is dark brown. My hair is black and tightly coiled. On my face, I have peach fuzz, significant side burns and errant hairs on my jawline (that I tweeze). I don't mess with my sideburns - I used to in middle school but I discovered that it was a bad idea - looked bad, felt bad, etc.
I shaved my face for the first time a couple of days ago with Panasonic Facial Trimmer with Pivoting Head Design - ES2113PC. It's far gentler on my skin than depilatory creams or powders. It was very effective but I did it on a whim so I have to look into it more to hone my technique and post-shave skincare routine.
