It's the obvious choice, but I have to recommend The Leuchtturm.

It's prenumbered and has sturdy structure - a pleasure to write in, even on the go. And you have plenty of colors to choose from!

The only thing it doesn't have from your list is thick pages - personally I don't mind seeing what I wrote on the other side of the page - the opposite, I like feeling like I make good use of the notebook.

I really hope you find bujo helpful! Don't let that choice stop you from taking care of yourself. I started with a cheap A6 spiral notebook before committing to more expensive notebooks. I wish you the best of luck!! And congrats for winning your battle. There's nothing you can't do now.

u/sakurasangel · 2 pointsr/bulletjournal

Hey all! I really want to start a bullet journal and am considering the Leuchttum1917 in Emerald. I think I'll probably get some pilot ink pens, but does anyone have any suggestions for markers/highlighters and fun (maybe fandom) stickers that I can buy? I want to make it pretty and aesthetically pleasing, because I feel like that will help me stay on top of a bujo when I'm feeling depressed/down/ am just busy.

u/cealion · 3 pointsr/bulletjournal

Any notebook using Tomoe River paper, such as this one, is famous for being able to handle ink well while having super thin pages. For me, I've discovered that my Leuchtturm1917 is perfect for what I do. That being said, I don't use relatively wet inks such as fountain pens, so if you're planning to move onto those at some point, you might want to invest in something like the link above.

As for writing utensils, a good starting point would be the Staedtler pens, such as this, or if you want a bigger pack of them--this.

Good luck on finding your perfect notebook/pen combo! :)

Edit: I also thought I'd link Boho Berry's Mega Notebook Comparison and her review of bullet journal supplies--they're a bit long and I'm sure many other big names in the bullet journaling world have made similar videos, but she was the first one who introduced me to all this and I find her comments pretty detailed and insightful :)

Huhuhero fineliners! I got a full color set for hella cheap on Amazon. They say 0.38mm but reviews say they're a lil bigger. They work great!

Huhuhero Fineliner Color Pen Set, 0.38 mm Fine Line Drawing Pen, Porous Fine Point Markers Perfect for Coloring Book and Bullet Journal Art Projects

I like Pentel Energel but the colors are limited. Great pens though

u/TheHipsterOwl · 3 pointsr/bulletjournal

Well I love Papermate pens and use flair (felt-tipped) personally, which DO show through. But I also use their gel-pens, and I love them. I don't know how they hold up on moleskin pages, but these pens are amazing: Papermate Inkjoy. They're not nearly as classy as some of the pens other bullet journalists like to use, but they fit my price point and they write really well.

I tend to go to Barnes and Noble for bullet journals. They have some pretty ones. My preferred journal is an A5 dotted type. Amazon also has a couple good brands too I’ve tried. Here’s the specific one I’m using right now.

I get my pens from Amazon. They’re like off-brand Staedlers: 60-pack with stencils or a smaller pack for trying.

Happy bullet journaling!

u/LiamtheFilmMajor · 1 pointr/bulletjournal

Just to give another option besides the Tombows, I use a combination of the Huhuhue Double Ended and the Huhuhue Fine Tips.

With a decent notebook (ie. not a composition book) I get minimal bleeding and the pens are super affordable.

I don't know if you have a case for pens, but I recently bought this one and I'm super happy with it.

u/tolerantamonia · 2 pointsr/bulletjournal

Here's the Amazon link. It's pretty nice! Good pockets and lays flat. And pretty cheap! I'd recommend it!

u/Ecnot · 5 pointsr/bulletjournal

I can definitely recommend Scribbles That Matter! They ghost a little bit too, but not as bad as the Leuchtturm. I love the cover with doodles on it, but they have plain covers too :)

u/Cheddarlishous · 1 pointr/bulletjournal

I have found a few pens I like for different reasons. Papermate inkjoy gel dry really fast, even the thick ones I use. I think you can buy just black too.... I would suggest getting smaller than you think because the ink really comes out. My other pens I like 0.7, but the 0.7 here is too thick for me...

For not bleeding through anything I like the uniball signo. I've linked the 0.38 because I got them because they dried faster, but I prefer the look and feel of the 0.7's. I'm looking for 0.5's too... I like them, but they definitely start having into continuity issues once they're about halfway used.

A notebook and a pen. Dotted will make your life easier, because if you choose to draw lines, you won’t have to measure.

The ruler for me is overkill, because I use whatever is at hand to make straight edges if I don’t freehand it— a visiting card (ha, they still exist), the edge of an envelope or a post it stack. But I do like the circle maker, and you may want to invest in one eventually, if you make my kind of a bujo.

What is essential though, is to go in with some rules. What are you going to do for the first month? When it doesn’t work, the rules can change, of course, but the bullet journal inspirational sources can be overwhelming and intimidating and a lot of not sinking is not doing everything at once.

Like /u/lilin_unite42 I have a limiting rule that makes my life easy: no spread of mine must require more than one pen, and must not require any tools to fill. I use more than one pen, and I use other stuff, but I didn’t want to be forced to carrying paraphernalia everywhere (because if I decide that this must be filled in red and that in black, then I’ll get antsy if I don’t have both on hand for when I need them).

Thanks! It’s this one from Amazon. It’s perfect IMO because it’s A5 and 120 gsm paper :)

u/SharoneyDK · 3 pointsr/bulletjournal

This one. No page numbers, but in every other way possible, including price, it's a superb notebook, with a sewn lie-flat binding, textured cover and nice thick paper. I use thinliners, fountain pens, gel pens, watercolors (no large wash areas, just to be safe) and brush pens and all work without with no feathering or ghosting. And the price is right! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078QP9KNM/

Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pens
I like them over Tombows because I find Tombows harder to control and easy to fray (even with rhodia paper). I really enjoy using brush pens like these with softer bristles :P

Thank you! It actually came with the set of microns. Here’s the amazon link: Sakura 50050 59-Piece Pigma Ink Artist's Gift Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009YZLKPQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf :)

Not a spiral bound but I would recommend a minimalism art journal. It's under $20.00 on amazon and the premium edition has 234 pages. It lies flat, dotted grid, elastic closure, hardcover and has thick pages. The one I linked is 5.8x8.3, but I believe there are many different sizes. It also has an index and a back pocket. I have been using mine for about a week now and I am in love with it!!

I just bought myself a similar book to this: https://amzn.com/B00SBDMWC2 As a notebook dork, I'd be happy with trying something new to me, especially if it has a good reputation and is higher-end than I usually use. I also went a little crazy on Goulet Pens getting new inks to try. That would be a fun gift.

>I use the Uniball Signo broad white gel pen! The ink flows pretty smoothly, I'm really happy with it!

Thank you for the pointers. I'm into graphic design a bit but I've already messed up on a few things so I'm sure as I go along into the months, it'll be less and less pleasing and more and more useful.

The journal is a Wanderings Passport Travel.

I’ve got the one on the right of this set. I can’t find it separate right now but it’s nice to have some shapes. I like the process flow stencils the most in it.

Stainless stencils

u/NatashaRomanof · 2 pointsr/bulletjournal

Thank you! It's a Minimalism Art classic notebook. $11 on Amazon! I'm really pleased with my choice.

You're welcome. 😁

If anyone else is in Germany they're also available on Amazon de

Thanks for sharing. I just ordered some!

u/cassae · 2 pointsr/bulletjournal

I use this moleskine dotted journal. I've been using it for about 8 months and it has 25 pages left before it's filled. I've always liked keeping one journal for everything, even when I was a teen :)

u/lovelillov · 2 pointsr/bulletjournal

Sounds like then she doesn't need anything too thick. Anything from 80 gsm to 100 gsm should be fine.

I'd recommend this dotted journal: Scribbles That Matter.

u/alltheyarnthings · 3 pointsr/bulletjournal

How thick of a marker are you wanting?

If you like thinner markers, I recommend the (Staedtler Triplus Fineliners)[https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VY9U9W0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_H93PzbSP28FR7] as they are good quality, lasted me a long time, and relatively cheap. I have no suggestions for thicker markers though because my next purchase was Tombows, which are quite pricey, but worth it to me.

u/lunipertree · 2 pointsr/bulletjournal

Copy from other reply;

Thanks! It's the Miliko transparent a5 hardcover. I've used the dot version too but I think I like this one better. Very affordable and paper comparable to more expensive notebooks.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FYRAGQQ

u/wildcherrylime · 2 pointsr/bulletjournal

Yeah! Basically any size circle you want within 6 inches/15.2 cm :) The smaller ones are a bit trickier since you can't use the rotating part, there's just different-size stencils in the plate instead. Link to the helix

u/pyrostarr · 3 pointsr/bulletjournal

I found metal ones pretty similar to those on Amazon Here

u/priello · 1 pointr/bulletjournal

I just got it off of Amazon. It tends to be cheaper and they have more colors/styles than most stores have. I'm glad Moleskine started making dot grid notebooks.

u/K_Moxy · 1 pointr/bulletjournal

I really like these spiral notebooks from Amazon. I haven't had any issue with bleeding ink, but I use mostly ball point pens.

u/Dradae · 1 pointr/bulletjournal

Scribbles That Matter has a notebook with heavy 160 gms paper nowadays, same weight as the Olive & Archer books. Might be worth a try.
