Cool. How is yours better than this $30 one from Amazon?

i have this and find it makes fantastic coffee. Took me a good few weeks to get the hang of things though. I have also included a link to the grinder I use too...

Of course you will be told to spend more etc and anything in this range is shit blah blah blah. However, I can assure you a great cup of coffee can be had with this equipment.

I would say that more important than the bean is the filter.

Vietnamese coffee is highly concentrated and delicious because it uses this filter

It's a Delonghi Dedica EC680, I picked it up for half price last year, but I've replaced the basket with a deeper one and turned the portafilter into a bottomless. Here is a photo of the underside, you can see the tool marks where I cut the bottom off.

If you keep the original baskets though, you can put ESE espresso pods in it, which is great if your spouse doesn't want to bother with the grinder.

Be warned, it cant steam milk for shit.. and it doesn't have a pressure relief valve.

You can always fold a piece of paper into an impromptu funnel. Instead of a stir stick, I travel with a LMF Spork. It fits the inside of the AeroPress well and is useful to eat with when your delivery food forgot a fork or spoon.

Most likely coffee grounds mixed with foodsafe resin molded into a mug. Could probably DIY, you'd just need grounds, epoxy/resin, a latex mold kit, and a mug with a shape that pleases you. It'd be a fun weekend project actually. Damn now I want to do it...

Love it, nice overview picture. Just about the same setup as I've got at home, minus the hario. I haven't splurged for one yet (just using a teakettle, ugh), but I'm tempted to jump for the Bonavita electronic kettle. Any thoughts on why not to get an electric kettle?

This http://www.amazon.com/Bonavita-BV1900TS-Carafe-Coffee-Stainless/dp/B00O9FO1HK machine is in the same price range and is well known/trusted in many coffee communities. Big issue in coffee machines is that the don't reach the proper temp for extraction. The bonavita definitely does while I'm not sure about the one you linked.

I was saying something like the link below. I think Hario makes a decent one. Although cheesecloth might work? There's only one way to really find out right?

If you like those these are very similar: Honey Stinger

Set an alert for this on Amazon, wait for it to be back in stock.

Edit: just kidding, it's a discontinued product. Sorry.

u/kneeod · 3 pointsr/cafe

Enjoy everyone.. And of course, there's other options available when you search for "stroopwaffel" on Amazon.

Someone sent me a package of these in a reddit gift exchange. I'd never had them before but I looooove them, they're so good.

Mayorga Organics Cafe Cubano Dark... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HSRNHHG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

They're cheap and don't taste too bad

Not too fine as I use a metal filter, the Able Standard filter.

At home I use a Delonghi burr grinder (https://www.amazon.co.uk/DeLonghi-KG79-Professional-Burr-Grinder/dp/B002OHDBQC) and have it set to almost the most course setting (say, 8/10, 10 being most course)
