It's a pleasure!

The outlets in South Africa are Type M - technically it's called a 15-amp BS 546 socket - so yes, you'll need a converter. You'd want something like this - that was the first one to come up on a Amazon search, but there are many available. You'd also want to check your laptop's AC adapter to make sure it says something like "Input 100V-240V" to make sure it can accept 220V power.

No local source I'm afraid, the plant is tropical, so it would only do well in a climate like Durban, even with the best of care.

If you have a source in SE Asia, you can ask them to bring fresh leaves in, then seal them in a ziplock and store them in the freezer.

You could also look at sourcing the extract from online retailers (like Amazon) which provides some of the flavour, but of course processed is always inferior to fresh.

Unfortunately the majority of Asian supermarkets in the Cape Town area are mostly Chinese, and not South East Asian, we have a deficit of most delicacies from that region, like durian and jackfruit.
