Okay whatever maybe he's dirt poor, but he just spends a lot of money on some things. For example, the lens casey uses most of the time in the vlog is current for sale on amazon for $649, which is a fairly large chunk of cash. He's also purchased drones on a whim (the DJI phantom 3 costs $1,000), a few 17" MacBooks (the base model's of which are $2,00, though I would bet Casey gets at least $400 on upgraded stock models), as well as a made-to-build 17" macbook (highest end available are $3,200). He lives very near to his work, which for context is on the southern tip of manhattan, less than a mile away from ground zero. Rent for apartments in the area cost upwards of $7,000/month, as well as rent at what seems like a place with some very relaxed landlords considering how casey seems to drill through and into anything at a moments notice.

Yea he seems like he's hardly getting by honestly, those lenses are a real drain on his wallet.

I'd go with the Sony RX100 V.

  • Yeah it's quite expensive, but you won't have to spend anything on lenses. Although it leaves you with a fixed lens.

  • The RX100 is really compact and great for capturing photos and videos. Just watch some reviews on youtube (e.g. autofocus, review by Sara Dietschy, also ok for [underwater footage] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6l9yWjoUNk) and astrophotography).

  • If you don't rely on the new autofocus you could even go with the much cheaper models III and IV, but I think the V is worth it.

To sum up I think you'll use a this compact cam generally more over a DSLR and also worry less about breaking the lens or handing it over to other people to take footage. (Kinda casey's mindset about gear.)

I've heard of some tripods out there having a "boom arm" feature, but I searched B&H all day once looking for one, and couldn't find one. I don't even recall a Google search turning up much.

I do know, however, that adapters like this exist:
Mic Stand Adapter 1
Mic Stand Adapter 2

I am considering buying one of those and using it with my camera + one of many boom arm mic stands I have lying around.
If I use it with a standard mic stand, then I'll have to weigh down the legs with sandbags or some other kind of weight... However - if you want to go about using this method, I suggest you try to find a studio mic stand like this. I have one myself, and I can guarantee that it will definitely hold the weight. Picked up mine off of Craigslist for $60.

cool. Yeah you'll find him wearing these blue ones a lot in vlogs: https://www.amazon.com/NIKE-Mens-Zoom-Blue-880848/dp/B071G23L5X.

They are probably the best looking day+running shoe.

He has mentioned though he wears Brooks a lot.

Amazon is your best bet. Search for camera case with belt loop etc.

I came up with a couple searching. Don't know where you're from so I found one on Amazon.com / Amazon.co.uk. I don't know if they'll fit the camera you have but I'm sure if you look you'll find something there.

If interested, I can tell you the setup I use for this podcast if you like the sound (My first time, still working out the kinks). It's portable too and I wouldn't have to guess the equipment:

Looks like casey just used some mirror mounts or something you can find in the hardware section of any home improvement store.

But they also do make legit ps4 wall mounts

After watching the video you linked, I cancelled the cheap one I got the one here described in the video, about $70 more, but it's the one casey uses so it must be decent quality. One question though, the video said casey uses this Canon PowerShot S120 for quicker and easier shooting, does it have the same auto focus technology that the Canon EOS 70D has?

That's the Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens. $299 on Amazon.com

It's supposedly the only lens he ever uses for every one of his vlogs.
