If you like web development stuff, you could try your hand at something like PHP. Try building a simple login form.

If you're in a position to purchase a book, I would highly recommend this book. It's nice and simple and is really easy to follow. You should be able to grasp the basic concepts of PHP pretty easily. Plus, if you're already looking at HTML5 then you should have a logical thinking flair so you've already got a foot in the door.

Seeing as you're chatting to me on this reddit bot centered AMA, I'm going to take a stab in the dark and assume you could be interested in coding simple bots. If so, you could try looking at Python - that's another coding language and it reads quite well. Some people say it's like reading English (it's not, but what they mean is it's easy to follow and pretty much forces good code etiquette).

I can give you some examples of Python scripts if you'd like, so you can see what it could be like to start learning it.

Another good tip for you is to download some ready built PHP scripts. You can find them for free via Google, or head to www.codecanyon.com and grab a pretty much ready built site for a small amount of money. You'll be able to see the source code behind the sites and hopefully be able to read through the code to see how things work. You may need to start a development server, but you could create one locally on your own machine at low to zero cost.

Although it can be a drag, a lot of it does come down to practicing ad nauseam. I do readings absolutely all the time, perhaps especially for friends and family, and sometimes it's unpleasant stuff, but more often than not it's letting them know that things will be okay. And if I can break bad news more gently, that's definitely a good thing!

that said... I do have a couple little tips.

  • find a deck with memorable pictures that relate to the message.
  • every time you do a reading, try to remember what the cards mean before you look.

While some of the cards (Major arcana I'm looking at you) can be pretty arbitrary, the right illustrations help enormously.

A great inexpensive deck (though very odd) is the Steampunk Tarot. The pictures are very helpful and attractive. It's SFW, which is helpful when you're practicing with god knows who. And they are made a little smaller and thinner so it's easier to mix them up and handle them casually.

final note: as much as I love a good novelty tarot deck, they're next to impossible to practice with or even use normally.

Have you ever heard of the woman whom changed her brain? Her name is "Barbara Arrowsmith Young"

She gave a ted talk about how she did it and slowly regained her ability leaving behind her disability. You should watch it and/or read her book. At least watch the video cuz it might help.

Hmm...iono if anyone asked this, but......
...I have a curious question, is their anything you remembered that never occurred before your incident?

For example a piece of event that normally a person in your condition would forget, but you're not? If you can.....maybe that piece of your memory might help you regain other pieces. Iono. Not sure.

I was curious once and so..
I took 2 course on Cognitive Science which delved a bit into neurology and it's connection with the body.

Let me share something I know about memory which is also quoted in the video.

"Before you can solve a problem, you have to identify it's nature." - Barbara Arrowsmith Young

https://qbi.uq.edu.au/brain-basics/memory/where-are-memories-stored

..depending on the type of memory you're forgetting, you might want to look at strengthening that part of the brain through mental exercises. Sometimes exercising helps with your motor skills as well. Not sure if it will or won't in your case..but yea

the types of memory is explained in the 3rd link

Not sure and no expert, but who knows....
The bit of knowledge on this post might help. I hope. Goodluck

It's often society thinks that we as humans can't shape our brain and it's our brain that shapes us......but the truth is......it's also possible to reshape our brain to the best of our ability as well. Vice versa. Nature vs Natural.....works in the strangest of ways sometimes. Keep believing in yourself.

I'm amaze you're even on here..

Believe it or not..
You're already slowly trying to reshape your memories now just by reading this. I hope you will find the knowledge you seek to aid your thoughts through these posts.

My first novel is a historical fiction, but the real theme of the story is the main figuring out for themselves what it means to be a man and a good person. I wrote it in my early 20s when I was kind of going through that same self discovery process. So really the lessons the character learns are traits I think are important to being a good person and certainly the kind of person I strive to be. It's available here if you're super bored: https://www.amazon.com/Leader-Tribe-Nicholas-W-Fuller/dp/1480022489/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523066890&sr=8-1&keywords=nicholas+w+fuller

My new book is more fun. There's still going to be some elements of character development that relate to my own personal development, but I won't be so heavy handed with it.

This book is a near future sci-fi story set in our own solar system. The main character is an Amish person (yes, that kind of Amish) on one of the moons of Mars. Earth is no longer inhabitable due to human fuckery and his amish colony was set up near the end of Earth's habitability by people that went "what have we done?!"

Anyway, it's sort of a Forest Gump comedy of errors as he travels through the solar system on his Rumspringa and he decides the vast solar system is where he wants to be, not in the Amish colony. He also falls in love with a girl and with a dog - the dog is central to the comedy of errors - and becomes a VR porn star along the way.

I'm excited for this story. Writing a novel is hard, but it's a really fun creative outlet.

I have many kinds of knives, lots of "tactical" knives and many purely utilitarian knives, one or 2 survival knives. edit: [here is old pic of collection] (https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-yOMApkrgJ-w/UPHWyQ5F7AI/AAAAAAAAAbQ/4a9gnq5rzMA/s640/2013-01-12%252014.33.15.jpg) I got the kershaw cryo and skyline and crkt m21 since then.

I have not but I have heard good things of them

A knife you have. and a strong knife with a good steel whether soft or hard (which ever you like better and is better for style of knife). there is a lot that goes into a survival knife so I will give some examples, [1] (http://www.amazon.com/Ontario-8628-RTAK-Knife-Green/dp/B001DZV3BG/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1375494728&sr=8-10&keywords=esee+6) [2] (http://www.amazon.com/Ka-Bar-Becker-BK9-Combat-Bowie/dp/B001IPKL7I/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1375494759&sr=8-5&keywords=becker+knife) [3] (http://www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-Master-Kraton-Handle/dp/B001PYUL0O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375494784&sr=8-1&keywords=cold+steel+trailmaster) [4] (http://www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-Black-Kraton-Handle/dp/B0030DBGXY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1375494815&sr=8-2&keywords=cold+steel+srk).

I dont know much about leatherman to be honest. but for me I would go with the surge, but the super tool 300 looks much stronger and more heavy duty.

The Making of

I decided to start making videos because a friend of mine (who happened to be roommates) decided that we were fairly funny and that it wouldn't be a bad hobby to just try out. Originally we started with hour and something long podcasts 4 years ago. At some point we decided that playing games for people on a regular basis wasn't a bad thing so we started streaming daily got to 150 viewers but we lost our home and had to move over 100 miles from one another and it got harder to stream on a regular basis and fell back into Youtube a little over three months ago. So that is how we started oh so many years ago

TL;DR We thought it was a fun hobby and really enjoyed making people laugh

> I did some work with a high school student with SM

What is SM? I tried to figure it out for myself through the context of your conversation, but my mind immediately spat up like a hundred acronym definitions for this, so I gave up and decided to just ask. :)

> Have you tried making friends/getting comfortable with people who are not in your family through more comfortable means than face-to-face communication?

Yeah, I do enjoy talking to people over the Internet, and have managed to develop very friendly relationships via email with some of my clients (I'm a professional editor who edits novels for self-publishing novelists as a freelancer; here's [one of them] (http://www.amazon.com/A-Latent-Dark-ebook/dp/B00919R7T8)). I have also tried penpals, but I'm interested in so many things my attention is very scattered, and I'm terrible at maintaining relationships outside of my family circle. I feel like I force the other person to do all of the work. I don't ignore people on purpose (well....not always...) but I inevitably neglect my relationships to the point that they just quietly dissolve. :/ Because I won't contact others to do activities, won't call people on the phone, and won't go over to their home unless invited, eventually people stop trying.

> Can you think of any things that nt's can do or could have done to let you feel more comfortable?

I know it's a small thing, but if people would listen to me when I do verbalize, that would be awesome. For example, I've told friends in the past I don't like to talk on the phone. It's horrible for me. I can't even articulate my loathing for it. I express the fact that I'm more comfortable texting. I can text all day long. But some people would think I'm joking and call me anyway. In response, I would turn my phone off and leave it off for months. Then they would automatically assume that I was upset with them, when really, I was just taking the only action I could think of in response to them not acknowledging my wishes. Butthurt would inevitably follow.

I also don't like to be touched, and if you tell some people that, they make an extra effort to do it. Like they can "cure" you of it through repeated exposure. No, I will never be cured of that. I don't want to be touched by anyone outside of my family, and I probably never will. Having my personal space invaded despite my hard efforts to communicate my needs to people - either verbally or through whatever body language I can muster - is infuriating.

Also, people insisting that I look them in the eye. There's a reason I don't do it, and I wish more people would respect it, and not automatically assume I'm being an asshole by not looking at them.

I realized that I forgot to mention some vital stuff you'll need and some important things you'll want to do if you do buy a trumpet.

---------------

The number one is valve oil. There are a million and a half different brands out there. I've used Blue Juice ($4 per bottle), Al Cass Fast ($7 per bottle), and Hetmans No. 2 ($7 to $8 per bottle for my horns. The first two are petroleum based and the Hetmans is synthetic. No matter what brand you buy, make sure you thoroughly wash the horn inside and out before oiling, especially the inside of the valve casing and the actual pistons themselves. If you don't, different varieties of oils can react together and gum up the valves. One bottle of valve oil will last you a while, so don't worry about stocking up.

You will also want some slide grease. I've only ever used Superslick ($2.30) , but any brand should be fine. I've even heard of people using vaseline.

-----------------

For cleaning, you'll want a trumpet snake ($2 to $3), a valve casing cleaner ($3 to $4), and maybe a mouthpiece brush ($2 to $3). You will also need a soft cloth that doesn't leave fibers behind. I use a microfiber cloth.

Here's a short video explaining how to clean a trumpet.

And a short video explaining how to oil the valves.

And some good youtube channels about brass:

Trent Hamilton. Very entertaining and informative videos. He covers alllll sorts of brass isntruments, so if you've ever wanted to know more about the brass family, check this channel out.

Rufftips. Where Trent Hamilton focuses more on the instrument side of things, Rufftips focuses on the playing. His channel is great for playing tips, helpful hints, and general really useful stuff about playing and practicing.

Matonizz. This channel focuses on euphonium, but a lot of what they talk about can be applied to trumpet.

16.) Alternative Medicine (speak to a dr!!

There are a few alternative medicine options out there for depression and are currently being studied as cures for depression.

I am not a doctor and I cannot give medical advice. Please speak to a doctor or professional before considering any of these options

A lot of these can’t be mixed with medication because it can cause serious harm and make things worse. You can get serotonin depletion and all that. I am not trying to scare you all but I want people to be safe. Please talk to doctors and and research

St Johns Wart

st johns wart is natural and there is a lot of conflicting info online about a proper dosage. A word of caution talk to a medical professional about the dosage. I found a dosage after extensive research online that I thought would be good. and after speaking to a dr it was way too much. The issue that came about was the dose I was taking gave me heart palpitations. Pretty much your heart skips a beat or something. What it feels like? mini heart attacks when I was sleeping. Scared the sht out of me. So talk to a doctor. Also get a good quality brand.

I did take this for a bit and did see a good increase in mood but I did stop. It does increase anxiety a bit too which was too much for me. and you can’t mix with alcohol and I believe you can’t mix with caffeine.

5-htp

From what I read it can also help and people usually move on to this after trying st johns wart and not getting a result. I didn’t move on to this, and forget most of the research. But do your own research and talk to a doctor.

Magic Mushrooms

psilocybin mushrooms is being studied a bit for treatment of depression and may be an option. for you. it was a conflict whether or not to include it or not because it is illegal and looked down upon by most. but it did help me greatly. actually pretty much cured my depression even though i still have anxiety. so leaving this out would be just as bad in my eyes. again I can’t recommend and will not give advice. but do your research.
erowid ( not a typo) is a good place to get some research but don’t believe everything you read, and approach with caution. there is a great amt. of people on there who try and push the limits which is not good. just cus someone else did it doesn’t mean you should.

not all shrooms are the same and each dose will be different from the last. some strains are much stronger than others. and just cus 1gram is good does mean 2grams is twice as strong. it doesn’t work like that and gets strong and intense quick. And if abused can be dangerous. I have had friends take too much and go to a psych ward. There is no rush take your time and go slow. To avoid getting hurt. Theres a great deal of info online and people you can talk to with advice. do tons of research. start small. its not a game and each trip is a learning experience, even bad ones. Ive had bad ones. Just please be safe!

16.) additional resources

Theres are tons of resources out there forums hotlines and the such doctors that kind help. Do your own research and sees what helps you. The point of this lengthy post is so that you don’t have to do all the searching and sifting through the noise like I did. So that maybe you can spend less time searching for a solution and focus on working on overcoming this battle. Now I do want to note that what works for me may not work for everyone. That everyones situation in itself is different and unique. That medications may work for some and not others. I don’t dismiss and look down upon on anything that may help someone overcome depression.

If you do choose meds or alternative meds start small and work your way up to to the dose. don’t just dive into the deep end. and when you start to feel better slowly work you way down decreasing the dose and not just go cold turkey.

Also I would like to list a book that has helped put things into perspective greatly and I think many people suffering any time of depression and anxiety can benefit from.

https://www.amazon.com/Happiness-Trap-Struggling-Start-Living/dp/1590305841

I do recommend reading through it slowly and work through the exercises as you go. I rushed through it and didn’t get to get the most out of it so I’m reading it again (:

Do I still feel depressed at times?

Yes. It is now more infrequent and less intense than before but it does still happen. To describe it... its just one of the days where you wake up and are just like "ugh" about everything. Idk if that makes sense. But what has happened is that the depression has been replaced with more anxiety. Like yesterday I just woke up and had bad anxiety all day. Idk why either. Nothing bad or stressful is occurring in my life at this time and I just have to realize it happens and Ill fully heal over time.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

Why didn't you ever try prescription meds?

I never went to speak with a dr, because I was afraid they'd just shove pills down my throat. ( I want to clarify that theres nothing wrong with medication, it does to wonders for some people but thats not the route I wanted to go). And that it is covering the problem rather than fixing it. At a young age, 12 i think, I remember have a school lunch monitor who was always super nice and friendly but at times she was very airy for a lack of a better word. One day I spoke with my mom and she basically told me she was on medication. I believe antidepressants if Im not mistaken. A lot of kids and adults talked about her at the school. So I never wanted to be that guy. There is also the bad things Ive heard that stuck out in my mind that you have a couple people snapping off of antidepressants in the pas tthat scared me, and then I had a cousin who I was not so close with going through through depression, which I found out at a funeral. But what turned me off was that he carried around all these pills and he was taking so much of them and thats literally all he can talk about was his pills.

Which is not a big deal. I understand now that he didn't have a very supportive immediate family, he wasn't working, didn't have any hobbies, and all he really knew was the pills so that was his way of talking. In a different light I think its similar to the guy who always works and when you meet up with him to catch up, work is all he talks about, because thats all he's around all the time. Finally, theres the whole business aspect of me where I know big pharma are ultimately companies and need to make money and don't care about the lil guy scenario.

Ok, so here's the skinny. I've never been on a cruise before so I did a bit of research and found that it's basically a floating bar, one which will add many hundreds of dollars over the course of a week if you like to imbibe. Myself, I don't drink that much so a few drinks here and there aren't going to break the bank, but we were travelling with some friends who do like to party but they're in tough financial straits right now (and wouldn't be buying drinks anyway) so I wanted to see if I could make their cruise a bit more merry on a budget.

Enter the Rum Runner™ knockoff, a sweet bit o' kit that works like a charm. They currently sell for $16.77 on Amazon Prime. I am NOT affiliated with this company or industry in ANY way, this was just the least expensive one I saw on Amazon. They worked fine, with zero leaks.

You get nine (9) heavy duty, reusable concealable flasks which collectively hold about two (2) 1.75 liters, one (1) fifth and a couple of pints of various alcohols. I brought one 1.75 liter of Bacardi rum, one 1.75 liter of Ketel One vodka, a fifth of Jose Cuervo tequila, a pint of Pendleton Canadian whiskey and a half pint of Captain Morgan spiced rum.

The trick is to fill them to about 85% capacity, squeeze out all the air before you cap them, place them in a gallon ziplock bag in case they leak (mine never leaked), hide them among your various toiletries in another gallon ziplock and then cushion them wrapped in a pair of jeans or a sweater. We spread them out among four suitcases and made sure that they only travelled in bags that we checked, not carry-ons. They only have so much time to x-ray all the bags before they drop them off in front of your cabin, and since the caps are the only thing that show up on the x-ray, it just looks like another random toiletry item.

They all arrived undetected, unmolested, with no leaks and a good time was had by all.

You may find this book by Erik Erikson helpful:
http://www.amazon.com/Childhood-Society-Erik-H-Erikson/dp/039331068X/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1407376099&sr=1-4&keywords=erik+erikson

It may explain something to you about your difficulty trusting other people. If it doesn't help in that way, it may at least help you understand other people better.

Looking toward the future, if you are like almost all other people your age you need to figure out what your most satisfying path(s) forward will be. If you are a natural-born sculptor, for instance, the issues of formal education might be largely irrelevant. On the other hand, if your ideal final job would be as a Justice of the Supreme Court you can see how many obstacles there would be to following that course. Even so, figure out what you really want to do, what you would do if somebody would just give you board and room, and work toward that goal.

Thinking about jobs, again, I think you should consider learning Russian. Since you began speaking that language there is a good chance that you will not have trouble with the sounds that stump individuals who began life speaking English or some other language. Your English writing is better than many undergraduates who learned to speak from poor role models. Either you had good early models in childhood or perhaps you spent hours every day listening to NPR. Anyway, you have a good basis for understanding how to put words together correctly in English, so you have a good basis for (re)learning Russian and getting your syntax right in that language.

With two languages you might find employment in organizations that need interpreters, translators, investigators. Some of these organizations might be more creative than others in ways to solve your citizenship problems. (If you were to be deported, I'm not sure that the government would have a legal basis on which country to deport you to. Somebody familiar with the legal side of things might be able to do a lot with that fact.) What if you applied to the UN for work and presented yourself as a stateless person? Probably they are trussed up like a Thanksgiving turkey with legal and protocol and whatever, but who knows? At least as a bilingual person you would have more options around the edges of the ordinary selection of jobs.

You could probably get a high school equivalency diploma. You should check out what you are really required to be able to do and learn math or whatever you are short on. Or maybe you could go directly into a community college? I don't know. Even if you end up as the next world-famous artist, it would be a good idea to have some formal education. (Erik Erikson didn't have a college degree, but he got his start a very long time ago.)

My best wishes to you.
