I've compiled all the parts I recommend in a PCPartPicker list below for your convenience. Now, allow me to go into a bit more detail. I didn't include a cooler because the Ryzen 5 2600 comes with a rather good cooler in the box for stock operation and modest overclocking. If you want something with a bit more power, you can't go wrong with the [Hyper 212 EVO](Cooler Master Hyper RR-212E-20PK-R2 LED CPU Cooler with PWM Fan, Four Direct Contact Heat Pipes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.8VKBb7PKEQBB). You mentioned you were planning on purchasing a GTX 1070 as well, so I included that in the list as well.

As for Ryzen and emulation, Intel does tend to be slightly better with emulation due to having faster single thread performance, but the advantage is slim. Emulators are beginning to to take advantage of more threads as of late, and that's where Ryzen excels. Take CEMU and RPCS3 as examples. While Intel is a bit faster in Cemu, Ryzen actually outperforms their chips in RPCS3. With every said, Ryzen is just fine for emulation. Price/performance wise, AMD reigns surpeme.

Looking for the best value for a graphics card to pair with an i7 3770K for BOTW Wii U and eventually Switch emulation on linux. Have been using the iGPU as I haven't been gaming on PC for a couple years. I don't want to spend more than 300 bucks, ideally more like 200. 60 FPS would be nice if possible but not essential, and I would definitely like to pump up the internal resolution for a 1080P monitor better than the original consoles can do.

What do you guys think is a good value? I was looking at this RX 580

I have an elite controller as well and I just use the mouse. That said, probably the best option would be to configure cemuHook to use an android phone for gyro controls and then buy one of those Xbox controller phone clip things to attach the phone to the controller. Here's an example:

https://www.amazon.com/MP-Power-Foldable-Mobile-Phone-Holder-Smartphone-Clamp-Game-Clip-For-Microsoft-Xbox-One-xbox-1-Game-Controller-For-Iphone-Samsung-Sony-HTC-LG-Huawei/dp/B01MSX55FM

I have no idea if any of the Xbox one phone clips for sale on amazon and eBay actually work for the Elite controller either (might interfere with the paddles), and I've also heard some of them scratch controllers because of the way the friction fit works for em. Just something to keep in mind since I'm sure you don't want to scratch your $150 controller.

In the future, I hope we see wii remote support. Then we just have to get creative about how to attach the wii remote to the xbox one controller. Perhaps like this?

https://static.gamespot.com/uploads/original/1535/15354745/2875204-2546845048-tumbl.jpg

Or maybe a 3D printed clip? Just some thoughts. I've already done 116 shrines on Cemu on BotW so I don't see myself ever trying any of this myself. Maybe. I kind of want gyro bow controls, or maybe another wii u game that requires the gyro will catch my interest.

OK I actually took the time and ran quite a few tests, checked voltage and did a slight undervoltage to -1.35 that helped a little bit, then I started to monitor CPU utilization, and noticed something throthiling in a HUGE way

Massive difference i9t wento from 16-20fps to 30-46fps without changing a single setting ( and I did set the triple recompiler and all of thath before hand following the guide)

this is my thermal solutio, is IS PRETTY LOUD though

now I'm wondering what might be a better long term solution I can't play with that blowing air on my ears, and the kids have to scream as we play mario kart with this thing.

I already re-pasted the CPU so that's not an option.

this is the laptop I'm using

a little old but still going strong

I built my rig for CEMU. Start with a FX4300 oc@4.8GHz (before multi core recompiler comes out)

I was playing Dolphin & MAME32 and CEMU (BOTW > 40FPS @ 900p) with a GTX 950.

Bought few months ago a FX4600 oc @4.6GHz and upgrade to a GTX970.

Most games run at fullspeed (MK8...), BOTW @2K 45 static FPS (fullsync@GXDrawDone enabled) see results here.

Cemu needs 6 cores to run in Triple mode recompiler correctly (i know that many post talk about 5 cores but i hardly think that is 6 : 3 CPU, 1 GPU, 1 audio, 1 controller emulation ? ). So if you go for an Intel CPU, you'll need at least an i7. And mostly, take a K serie (not locked) to overclock it !

Otherwise even with a good i7, you'll struggle to reach my current rig performances ! (with a same GPU)

FX4600 : 60$ brand new and good CPU cooler for example ARTIC A32 (>250W TDP, fx6300 is 95W TDP) to reach 4.5GHz oc without any issue.

For The GPU, i think a 970 is the great deal (> 1050ti) and cheapest in used condition.

Well it's more expensive than I bought it for but this controller can't be beat- it's a rare late-cycle 360 controller that was improved tremendously from the original 360 pad.

https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Limited-Chrome-Wireless-Controller/dp/B00IFHTMQI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1512085608&sr=8-3&keywords=xbox+360+chrome

You do need an Xbox 360 wireless adapter for your PC too so it could get pricey, but this controller works wonderfully for Cemu.

Moving the saves over is pretty easy. You'll need to softmod your WiiU. It's only temporary and very easy to do. You just need an SD Card 32GB or less and a USB to SD Card adapter.

If you have games that you want play online, I'd also recommend dumping: your files needed for online, mii heads, and friends list app while you're at it.

Here's a video guide for that.

Now after having watched that video you should know what I'm talking about going forward:

You just need to open the homebrew launcher with the browser exploit and then launch 'Mocha CFW'. Then you'll be back at the homebrew menu. Now, launch 'SaveMii Mod' and then you can use that to dump all your savedata to the SD Card. Then you can plug the SD Card into your PC with a USB to SD Card Adapter and move the files into Cemu.

Here's a video showing how to use SaveMii Mod (start from 2:03).

Just remember to launch 'Mocha CFW' before launching 'SaveMii Mod'.
___

Then (obviously) you need to dump your game(s) from your WiiU to get them on your PC.

You can dump them with FTPiiu everywhere.

The 00050000 folder stores installed games.
The 0005000E folder stores installed updates.
The 0005000C folder stores installed DLC.

If it's a disc game, then you'll need to use DDD. Here's a video guide showing how to use it. Select the disc option.

But you'll still need to dump the DLC and updates with FTPiiu everywhere.

/u/niexxx mentioned needing a decent Nvidia Card and I agree.

I've never owned an apple product, but this External GPU enclosure connects to Thunderbolt 3 if that's on newer macbooks. It's a little pricey for just an enclosure, but it could be a good option for you if you want to get a GPU.

i use a PS4 controller for all but the touch. for the touch i got a second monitor for like $150 was this guy but i am certain you can find something similar. https://www.amazon.com/Touchscreen-Portable-HDR%EF%BC%8CUltra-Speakers-Pressure/dp/B07FKJ6WP1

This should give you 6~10 hours extra running time . https://www.amazon.com/BiXPower-Watt-hour-Capacity-External-Rechargeable/dp/B0087HW5YM . Of course this is the last resort , if you can somehow make your current laptop run better , that's also good

u/AlberichGamer · 1 pointr/cemu

I'm trying to play Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze in CEMU 1.6.3 and 1.6.4. Initially, I could run it smoothly in 55-60fps, but randomly CEMU started to run in 10fps in some parts of the game. Also, in the Windmill Hills level (2-1), the game starts to get really slow after the intro cutscene. Does anybody knows about this problem? I've heard that TF was playable in these versions and I don't think there's a problem with my GPU or something like that. Anyway, my SPECs is basically the same as the following: https://www.amazon.com/Laptop-X555UB-NH51-Memory-GeForce-Windows/dp/B016ZNMGOS.

u/zkkaiser · 2 pointsr/cemu

I've been doing the same thing! This is the controller I've been using it works so flawlessly it's kind of criminal I was able to get the 'Switch' experience for less than $40...

I use Moonlight over 4g and mainly use steam-link when at home, because I could never get steam-link over 4g to work properly even after forwarding the ports but both work pretty much equally well.

u/SuprVgeta · 3 pointsr/cemu

I use a DS4 + InputMapper w/ regular bluetooth usb adapter w/ perfect results (this one infact: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009ZIILLI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Has worked flawlessly for over a year w/ no signal drops/interruption.

u/Novalith_Raven · 1 pointr/cemu

Oh, you got me there. I didn't change their default values, here's the exact model, running on this motherboard.
