I also have the Dyson hand vac, super handy. Mine is the cheaper/older model that doesn't have the stick/powerhead attachment, it's a hand-vac and that's it. It is awesome for crevice cleaning and sucking up cobwebs as you mentioned. I also use it to suck up dust piles after sweeping, rather than a dustpan.
I recently purchased a robot vacuum and I have to say it was one of the best investments ever. I got the Neato D7 which is currently on sale right now for over $200 off. I always thought he robot vacuums were just overpriced gimmicky tech gadgets, but it does an AMAZING job. With its ability to easily slide under chairs and other furniture, it honestly does a better job at vacuuming than I do.
If you're talking pictures or other lightweight items, and you have picture rails (thin trim on the wall, near the ceiling) picture-rail hooks and some wire or string:
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=picture+rail+hook&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
If you don't have picture-rail trim (or it's un-usable, from a century of paint buildup, like mine) these work quite well:
https://www.amazon.com/Picture-Hangers-Coologin-Professional-Mounting/dp/B075QBTKJD/
The nails are quite skinny and sharp, and the hook holds it steady while you tap it in, so (in my experience) they never do any damage to old plaster walls. If you're at all nervous about it, get an upholstery tack hammer
https://www.amazon.com/Estwing-Sure-Strike-Tack-Hammer/dp/B001DZTQG0/
It's small & light enough that you won't damage the wall if you miss, but heavy enough to get the job done when you don't miss.
Either way, don't smack the shit out of it. Repeated light taps will get you there. tap, tap, tap, tap...

If you need to hang something heavy, like a shelf, use toggle bolts. Specifically, snap-toggles
https://www.amazon.com/12-TOGGLER-SNAPTOGGLE-included-Fastener/dp/B01IU6HG48/
are way easier to use than traditional toggle bolts. Although you might need to buy longer bolts, separately, because old plaster's a lot thicker than drywall. And you will be going through a lot of drill bits, old plaster just eats them. So get spares. I second the tape trick, and (depends on the wall, you get a feel for it) masonry bits sometimes work better.

I used to love the screw-type anchors, but I've also had them get stopped by the scratch coat or the lathe, then blow out the surface coats; result is a hole 2-3 inches across and an inch deep. So... counter to some people in this thread... I Do Not Recommend those.
You could use a contour gauge (Empire Level 2754 Contour Gauge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000TFIBW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_SUQACb7D8Y55Y) to scribe it and reproduce it. I've also heard, but not actually done myself, that some lumber yards can reproduce trim pieces based on a profile from a contour gauge. This is something that takes time and likely some decent money. If you are lucky and it is a common, albeit old style, you may find it in their reproduction trim catalogue. Best of luck!
Thanks. It’s one of those things that people don’t tell you, but it can add years to the life of the putty. My boss likes to say “think like water.”
I should probably clarify that I’m only talking about 1/16 of an inch or so. It will take a little practice to match both sides. I second scoring the paint first. You can get cheap razor blade holders, but I really like this kind.
Yellow is a terrible idea. It will look dingy next to the grey-ish cabinets. I would either freshen the White on the walls or do a deeper medium grey.
Remove the curtain above the sink. Find a more modern pattern or go with white blinds with wide slats. If you want a pop of color, a solid bright yellow, blue or green would look nice in curtains.
Get faux marble appliqué for the counter tops.

Switch out the cabinet knobs for something more modern.

Is there an attic above your bathroom? We did a remote mount exhaust fan above our tub and it is great! Link to the fan we have in our bathroom
Don't you just need something like this?

Or

I hope someone does post pics though, I've never got to up close study a double pocket door.
While not the "best" you can get flexible drain pipe for just this issue. THis should get you going in your search https://www.amazon.com/LASCO-03-4355-Coupling-Flexible-Extendable/dp/B000FH88XE

The ridges can catch clogs etc, but i will say, i had one in a previous house that was there when i moved in, and still there and there were no issues. I think the big thing is try not to put stuff down it like hair etc that would cause clogs. But it is also cheap that you could take it apart and clean it or replace it ever 10 years or something.
My only other concern is how close the sink is to the tub and water hitting that "wood" sink side and making it get squishy fast. Whie it sucks for storage, i might have put in a pedestal sink in that location.
Don't remove anything
https://www.amazon.com/Ez-Flo-15194-Adjustable-Plastic-36-Inch/dp/B00838I6XY/ref=asc_df_B00838I6XY/
Look at related items you want a metal rod and the spring thing
I wonder if you could prevent it from getting quite as wet by adjusting the angle the shower sprays. We did a quick fix to our shower to make it more of a "rain shower" by adding an extension arm: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0064TYE9Y?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
The water now splashes totally differently in our whole shower. Since it's strait down, the walls do not get nearly as wet. I didn't anticipate how big the change would be.
Might not be as authentic but I have an indicator switch with a small led on it that let's me know if the back stairway light is on.
Leviton 5226-W 15 Amp, 120 Volt, Duplex Style Single-Pole, Neon Pilot AC Combination Switch, Commercial Grade, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0015BKZI0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_vLSXDbFST57A5
So I have opened the window, kept the door open (it’s only me and my s/o). And we have this guy.
We personally haven’t done anything to this bathroom except fixed some grout
That might end up being what you have to do. Ours already had the holes in the woodwork fortunately/unfortunately.
I don't know how well this works, but they do make "no-drill" curtain rods.
