I am a bit bigger than 35mm and had the same problem with most off-the-shelf cages. Most cages a tried that are over 32mm were too long for me (I'm a grower). I eventually found this one. The perfect length for me and a 35mm diameter cage:

I could wear it long term and it was pretty comfortable, but even it was a bit smaller than I wanted. I ended up taking one of my longer cages that was 36mm and customizing it by shortening it to the length of the one I linked (I'm lucky enough to have the skills and tools to fab stainless steel). I tried both the CB6000 and Holy Trainer knock offs and had similar results as you. My problem is actually the length. My length varies pretty dramatically. 1.5" flaccid to about 7" erect. Two ways to measure for ring size:

1. take some string, fabric, or something flexible and wrap around the base of your shaft and balls. Measure that with a ruler or measuring tape.
   
   
2. flexible fabric tape
   
   Most rings are measured in diameter. So take that measurement you took around yourself, put it in a calculator, and divide by 3.14. That will give you the diameter of the ring you need. In general, if you can't find a ring the same size, go for the closest ring that is smaller than what you measured.
   
   As for cage size, measure how long you are when flaccid, wait like 30 minutes, do it again, and repeat until you have like 3 or 5 measurements, so you can get an idea of the average. Then subtract like 1/4", and look for a cage with that length.
