    Features:
  • HOW IT WORKS: Our patented two-way humidity controlled Boveda packs compensate the atmosphere inside your humidifer. When water vapor is needed, Boveda releases the cleanest and most purified humidity. When there is too much moisture in your humidifer, Boveda absorbs the excess. With Boveda, you do not have to adjust any valves or figure out if you put in too much or too little water and you will never have to fill or refill your device with water again - ever.
  • humidifer SEASONING: Only use to pre-condition a wooden humidifer WITHOUT rolls in it. This formula is specifically designed to provide moisture directly to the cellular structure of the wood humidifer during the seasoning process. Once you’ve seasoned with Boveda, your humidifer is primed for your most treasured rolls.
  • 14 DAYS PERFECTLY SEASONED humidifer: Just place the Boveda 84% RH in an EMPTY humidifer for two (2) weeks. Toss Boveda Seasoning away when you’re done (Boveda isn’t reusable) and replace with desired Boveda RH. Use the right amount—Use one (1) Size 60 Boveda for every 25 TOTAL rolls a wood can humidifer can hold OR use a Size 320 for every 100 total rolls your wineador/coolador can hold. Use Size 60 84% RH for wood humidifiers.
  • RESTORE & MAINTAIN: Boveda is the most effective way to properly age and store rolls at home. Simply place the Boveda packet in your travel, desktop, electronic, or wooden humidifer right on top of your rolls or use our Boveda Holder. After 14 days, remove the Boveda seasoning pack(s) and discard them—they aren’t reusable. Move your rolls into your well-seasoned humidifer and add new Boveda packs in your desired RH—65%, 69%, 72% or 75%. This handy chart will help you choose the right RH for you.
  • ABOUT US: Boveda devoted the past 23 years to the science of two-way humidity control, we know you will benefit from our commitment to precision. Becoming the global leader in any category does not happen overnight, but Boveda did this and continues to do so since 1997. Today, that persistence looks like millions of two-way humidity control packets getting shipped out each year to protect your finest rolls and tobacco related products.

You'll want to get any plastic smell out if there is one. Mine was fine so I didn't bother, but most people say you need to do something to clean it out. I'm going to make a post that gives a full run down of my setup soon, but until then I'll tell you what I use. These trays are perfect. Don't get the small ones, only the medium and large ones. Each shelf in the 281 cooler will hold either 1 large tray or 2 medium trays. On the bottom of each tray I have a piece of Spanish cedar that comes out of cigar boxes. I stopped by my B&M and he let me take a handful that he had laying around. I also have some of these Spanish cedar pen blanks in random spots in some trays. Here is a pic of both tray sizes, with one of the cedar blanks in the middle on the left. Here is a large tray on the metal shelf. Here are 2 medium trays on a metal shelf. Here is a frontal pic of my setup. The top 3 shelves each have 2 medium trays, the bottom 3 shelves each have 1 large tray, and another large tray sitting flush on the bottom. Here is a pic of another configuration I was using before when I kept some boxes in the bottom area. Then I have 2 of these hygrometers using their magnetic discs to sit on the front of the metal shelves. I have 2 computer fans and a timer coming tomorrow that I am going to setup in the bottom shelf to aid in circulation. What's great is that the trays have slots in them already so airflow is great in all areas of the wineador, and you can configure the trays any way you want. I am completely happy with the whole thing, you will be too. And what's great is you can upgrade the setup by getting the really nice custom made drawers in the future, as cash permits. I plan on doing that later this year most likely. It's nice to have a setup that is fully functional, holds a ton of cigars, and can be upgraded over time. Win-win!

Already mentioned a few times on here but I will elaborate.

The demand for Cubans on top of the fact that they are controlled and run by the government forces them to release cigars extremely quickly to help meet the demands world wide. Because of this, the tobacco isn't aged ahead of time like you'll see with many quality NC manufacturers. This is why you see people commenting on the aging of Cubans after they have them. Basically, you're having to do the aging yourself that you're used to not dealing with with say a Padron.

The Ramon Allones Smal Club Corona is a great little cigar and you commented on one of the other concerns with Cubans, quality control. Depending on the manufacture (some are better than others), you'll want some sort of tool like a Perfect Draw that you can use to help open up those plugged Cubans.

Cuban leaf is something to experience and learn along with all the other regional tobaccos out there. Just go into it knowing what to expect and that will help out a ton with your enjoyment.

I got my first humidor from Cheap Humidors and it was decent enough.

That budget will get you one in the 50-100 size of okay build quality but reliable performance, which really is ideal even if you're just starting out. 50 or less seem to fill up in no time as they never hold rated capacity.

Now before you go nuts buying cigars take at least a week to season your humidor. There are many guides online, but I would only follow one that doesn't involve you wiping down the interior with water. Once you know what humidifier comes with the humidor post here or do a little research asking how to manage it as they're all a little different (foam, gel, bead, or active).

You'll also need a good hygrometer to measure humidity. I cannot rate this one highly enough. It is very accurate, does not need your calibration, is wireless up to 100ft so no opening the humidor to check(humidity swings), and uses AA batteries instead of button batteries. It's also relatively the same price as the cheap-o ones. The only draw back is that the trasmitter is about the size of a pack of smokes(~3 cigar width and depth), but fits with no issue in my 120 count. To me the loss is more than worth it.

To start finding cigars you like Sampler Packs are a great way to start. Personally I think Cigars International has the best variety for price in theirs. These next two samplers contain really good smokes for the price.

Sampler 1

Sampler 2

Three great brands to start with if you're buying singles from a local store are A. Fuente, Punch, and Rocky Patel.

I bought this for my GFs Father's 50th bday. It looks gorgeous and the seal (it has the seal tech i think its called sureseal or quickseal) and quality was top notch, i almost kept it for myself lol

While personally I've upgraded to a large tupperdor i would totally buy this if i wanted a traditional humi
Almafi humidor

Hi - New here. I just ordered the 1.2 cubic foot Whynter today and have read that you need to plug the drain tube to help control the humidity. Do you have it plugged on this unit and does anyone think it should not be plugged?

Amazon has the smaller one today for $175. https://www.amazon.com/Whynter-CHC-120S-Stainless-250-Cigar-Humidor/dp/B00KO95RVO/ref=zg_bs_10342478011_18?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MJ4PHPRCXJEE3FPSHCTA
I had Best Buy price match, which I did not know they would do for online products, but they happily did. (I don't work for Amazon or Best Buy) I do like cigars though!

I recently did a wine-a-dor and wanted to not spend a ton of money. I ended up getting it done for about 200 bucks. I bought this wine cooler
from Amazon and used Prime shipping for free.

I bought these shelves from Amazon, just cheap generic stuff.

Along with a hygrometer and some Cigar Mechanic beads and I love it. Would do it again in an instant. I can fit about 150 sticks in this guy and love the ease of use.

The good news is cheaphumidors.com is actually a fairly well respected site by this sub. I can only hope that's where he got it =) We even get a nice 15% off with them. (See the side bar - Cigar Deals)

That being said, grab a couple of these bad boys - Bodeva 84% packs. You should only need one to season your humidor. Follow the instructions on/in the package.

For calibrating - Install the analog one, and forget it. Its now a glorified cork for your humidor. Grab a digital one and a calibration kit.

Welcome to the family!

I got one of these things, a telescoping single cigar holder:

https://www.amazon.com/Telescoping-Airtight-Travel-Humidor-Cigars/dp/B001307MMA/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1520906932&sr=8-1&keywords=single+cigar+holder&dpID=21Jmm0TouKL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

It will fit most stogies and keep it from getting the wrapper horked. I also have a two cigar Porsche Design carbon fiber exterior with cedar interior holder that I got as a best man gift. It's possibly one of the most beautiful things to look at. But it doesn't hold larger cigars, so might be a little impractical.

You can also get the leather two stogie holders on amazon.com pretty cheap:

Lets start before Cubans, and I'll assume you know nothing about cigars and just start from the beginning.

Okay, as far as humidors go, there are a bunch of options. The quickest and easiest way is to buy a tupperware container that seals well and a few boveda packets (you can get either on amazon). I'd recommend 65% if you're using a "tupperdor" (69% for a wooden humidor...of course depending on the climate where you live etc...). Rough rule of thumb is to use one 60 gram packets for every 25 cigars the container can fit. We'll get more into wood humidors later.

The next thing you'll want to have is a digital hygrometer. You can snag one for 15-20 bucks on amazon. If you're using multiple tupperdors, I wouldn't worry about having one in each, just switch the meter to a different container every week or so to make sure they're staying good. With boveda packets, you shouldn't have a problem. Anyway, when you get your hygrometer, you want to calibrate it. The packaging or instructions may say that it is calibrated at the factory and does not need to be tested. Ignore that. Get a bottle cap, fill it about 2/3 up with table salt, and a few drops of water. Put the cap in an airtight container (a zip lock bag will do) with the hygrometer. Wait a day, and see what the hygrometer says. If it says 75%, you're good. If it doesn't, adjust it until it does, and then leave it in the bag a few more hours to make sure it stays there. You will find that you may develop your own preference for the Relative Humidity (RH) of your cigars, but it your container is reading in the mid sixties to the low seventies, you're around where you want to be. Keep an eye on the temperature, too. I like to keep mine below 70 degrees F. If they get into the high seventies, your cigars may literally begin hatching beetles.

Now onto wooden humidors: these are much more of a pain in the ass than tupperdors, in terms of setting it up. As far as a specific model, there are a ton and it depends on too many things to specify from the information you gave. Personally, I'd recommend a humidor that can hold more cigars than you plan on needing. My first humidor holds fifty cigars. I now have another 25 count (although, that was free and I didn't need it until I figured "fuck it, might as well fill it"), a 100 count, and two tupperdors. So as far as picking one out, I'd recommend again going bigger than you think you need, make sure it is at least lined with spanish cedar, and just check reviews to see how it seals. Every humidor will have bad reviews because a lot of people don't know how to season them, so look for reviews from people who seem to know what they're doing. And I'd personally stay away from anything with a glass top, it's just another place it can lose a seal.

Speaking of seasoning, you have to season a wooden humidor, which means to sort of saturate the wood to the correct humidity level. If you don't, the wood will eat up the humidity being released by your humidifying thingamajig instead of it being all for your sticks. There's a couple ways to do this: you can get distilled water (or a premade solution of distilled water and propylene glycol, it really doesn't matter) and wipe the wood down with it, with a barely damp cloth or sponge. If you get the wood too wet, it will warp and the humidor won't seal. Then leave a bowl or shot glass filled with the distilled water in the humidor and let it sit a few days. Note that the water being distilled is not optional, do not use any other water, no tap, no spring water. Only distilled water. You want nothing in the humidor except spanish cedar, cigars, and moisture.

The easier way to season a humidor is to buy boveda seasoning packets. They regulate the environment in the humidor to 84%. Buy the same amount you'd need if they were regular bovedas, one per 25 cigar capacity. Put them in the humidor, close the humidor, come back 14 days later and take the packets out. Replace them with (I'd recommend) 69% packets. Put cigars in over the course of a few days (you don't want to add them all at once, it will swing RH levels).

I'd recommend this for a tupperdor, in the largest size:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00284AG5U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have this humidor, I like it:
http://www.cheaphumidors.com/the-othello-checkerboard-pattern-cigar-humidor.html

I also have this smaller humidor which I'm still seasoning, but it seems to seal well enough:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072NZK9K4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Seasoning packets:

Packets to regulate RH (pick whatever RH you'd prefer, I like 69 for wood and 65 for tupperdor):
https://www.amazon.com/Boveda-2-Way-Humidity-Control-Large/dp/B004LHSOBK/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1502648826&sr=1-1&keywords=boveda+69

Distilled water/propylene glycol if you want to go that route:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040OEB6G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hygrometer (I like round ones because a lot of humidors will have a cutout for the shitty analog hygro they all come with and the round ones will fit there):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004167OY4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Someone let me know if I missed anything.

Edit: I didn't mention beads, the "soak this weird thing in distilled water" humidifier or kitty litter because I really don't think there's a good reason to steer someone towards them, but I really haven't ever used any of it so if someone wants to add something about those, please do.

It really is the greatest. Not sure what to do about the Prime increase, but we'll see. I do love my 2-day free shipping, and nowadays plenty of household items I order are here in less time if I order early in the day.

I bought from these guys
http://www.amazon.com/Spanish-Cedar-Tray-with-Divider/dp/B007T8ZSVM/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A1PJGEJIM88W48

They shipped quick and come out to $13/per shelf. I ordered 4 from them and they sent in a box big enough to hold them all and were well packed enough to make it in one piece.

I bought this Cuban Crafters Perfect Cut cutter recently and I love it. Well made, good weight to it, super sharp, and has a lifetime warranty.

u/Im_clean · 1 pointr/cigars

Well taking into account the fact that your step mom doesn't like him to smoke... If you drop 40-50 on a good humidor set up and another 100 on sticks, will she want them thrown out? It's not like this is a set it and forget it thing it takes at least a daily monitoring.

I'd say a good in between, for looks and for ease of use would be:

A 10 count herfador. Looks more presentable then just a Tupperware container (which is also a great cheap option).

Get a couple bovedas. One pack in here with 10 sticks should last at least a few months.

Then for sticks: see /u/sequenc3 comment bellow. Solid list. I'd add pretty much anything from Arturo Fuente and Olivia as brands to look at as well.

u/thedogsbollies · 3 pointsr/cigars

When starting out always go for the tupperdor route. It doesnt matter what the environment is the cigars remain the same rh.

The default setup for a new cigar smoker is this: Systema container | cedar tray | Boveda 65 | Hygrometer. You could get away with not buying the hygrometer as long as you use the Boveda's but It's always good to know the rh. Other recommendations: The Cuban Crafters Perfect Cutter and another great tool to have is the PerfecDraw, not cheap but worth every penny.

u/MordacthePreventer · 1 pointr/cigars

Me as well.
Also consider one of these. They get recommended pretty regularly.

But, honestly, my zippo+jet drop-in like what /u/katmaipinnacles recommended has worked just fine so far.

u/Azzmo · 1 pointr/cigars

Cigarobsession recommended this container and I've been happy with it. If I could do it over again, I'd get one about 1/2 or 2/3 the size.

It's a bit big for a casual.

I'm using humidity beads in that chicken salad tub and they work perfectly. $16 for the container and $4 for the beads and you've got a full setup without any real financial commitment.

u/jl_snorlax · 1 pointr/cigars

Far and away my favorite is this from Amazon. The 503 torch is sold by a ton of sellers, holds a copious amount of butane, easily adjusts flame height, and includes a soft flame.

Its pretty much perfect and even fits snugly in my herfadors.

u/R_X_R · 1 pointr/cigars

So, I was in the same boat not long ago.I only had a small assortment of cigars and threw a boveda in a tupperdore. My readings were all over the place and I was distraught.

First things first. Calibrate your Hygrometer, MAKE SURE it is where it should be. Give this a try

Also, Get some cedar in there. Cedar is great at many things including soaking up some of that humidity and helping keep a nice steady environment. There is a reason real humidors are made of it. I used a couple of these blanks from Amazon

Now, After all this is done, GIVE IT TIME! It will take at least a week or so to settle down to a normal RH. Don't panic and just trust in the Boveda pack.

u/k00k · 3 pointsr/cigars

Agreed, that's what it looks like. Do yourself a favor and get one of these, so you don't cut too deep. I love mine:

From experience, 60rh is great value.. i suggest you give it a shot and you’ll notice the difference in your smoking experience..

Glass top humi is not 100% airtight.. to seal it you need hot glue gun and run a seal along where glass/wood meet.. it’ll help

If you want the best storage possible i’d invest in a wineador, depending on your cigar count and what you anticipate to stash in future you can choose the size that fits your needs, usually we make the mistake of buying a small one not expecting we’d grow out of it.

Thats from a couple months ago so some things have changed but its the same idea. This is the newair 300 model and i got it through amazon. In terms of set up I bought a 4 pack of 84% boveda packs and set them through out the humidor and let them set for almost a week. After that I put 3 320 gram 65% bovedas on the shelves and let it sit over night. After that I filled it up and wasnt too happy with the humidity until I plugged the drain hole. After that it sits at a perfect 62-65% with no maintenance. Only add ons id recommend is the 320 bovedas and maybe some extra lights if you want to be fancy. One thing you should know is that after I got it set up my frequency of buying full boxes jumped by 500% lol.

u/nicknameisnub · 6 pointsr/cigars

Do what the manufacturer says. I suggest if you do that though adding some of the 84% Boveda Seasoning packs in with it to help it along because you will need to leave it closed for 2 weeks to get it good and ready. You will want to check it every couple of days but leaving it closed is best if you can stand it

u/firedogee · 2 pointsr/cigars

I live in CO at 6000ft (very dry) and use this humidor and humidification combo. It looks great and works great for me! Remember to season the humidor first (84% Boveda pack works good).

When your lighter runs out of fuel, it is important to purge and refuel properly. This may be the problem. Who knows? I got a lighter with a 5 pack that also sucked.

This lighter is a pretty good deal, a few of us have one. I have a $60 lighter, but to be honest it's not that much better for doing the same job. I have had this lighter for over a year, it does the same thing. My old standby is a $5 torch from walmart.

I would encourage you to give wood matches a try.

u/thawhizkid · 1 pointr/cigars

I'm shocked no one has mentioned the 503 torch that we all love and adore here. While only being a single torch, it holds a TON of butane. It's really a great product.

I would be able to list everything right now. You dont have to spend much money.
Start with both of these.

This is a great humidor for very cheap. Learn online how to season it and calibrate it using salt/water.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001307MMA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you have a local store near you, I HIGHLY recommend stopping by and purchasing your cigars from them. They will give you all the advice that you need. They will also usually give you a free cutter/lighter which is essentially all you need.

Edit. If you are just starting. You don't need a humidor. They just look fancy. You can toss one of these in the plastic bag you buy the cigars in and its basically humidified for up to 60 days.

Basically what I did was got this fan and connected it to this timer

I didn't use the cord that came with the fan, instead I got a DC cord from Radioshack (you can probably find something cheaper online). I cut the DC plug off the end of the cord, ran that through the drain hole and connected the wires to the fan and taped everything up with electrical tape.

I sealed the drain hole with insulation foam and then covered that with electrical tape for good measure!

I hope that makes sense!

For a Tupperdor, I second u/tukeybutter's suggestion of the Sistema Klip-It line. I have the 2L (67.7oz) and 3L(101oz) sizes and they are great. Mine have a Boveda pack and a sheet of Spanish Cedar in each and sit on a shelf in the corner.

For a Coolerdor, u/has_no_karma did a great write up, but I don't have the link saved on this computer.

u/questions_fo_days · 2 pointsr/cigars

I have to disagree. I have this Cigar Caddy 10 count and absolutely love it. My buddy has a xikar case and there is honestly no difference. If anything the cigar caddy is beefier plastics. Take it kayaking all the time since its waterproof and kept my sticks smoking great for a week long cruise.

u/phogeddaboudit · 2 pointsr/cigars

Sure thing! I got mine from Amazon, it went on sale for about $40 and I had more than that in Amazon Credit, so it was "free!"

Edit: Link fixed lol

u/SirRolex · 6 pointsr/cigars

This isn't attractive, but it gets the job done. So far I have roughly 20 sticks in there. Could fit 40 easy.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00284AG5K/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Edit: I currently have 46 in there. Could push 50 with the right sized sticks!

u/turkeybutter · 3 pointsr/cigars

I have no experience with a coolerdor, but the tupperdore is easy.

  • Get a good hygrometer and calibrate it.

  • Get a good food grade airtight tupprware. [This is what I use] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00284AG5K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_hlLOcvcPiAmHF).

  • Get yourself a boveda pack that fits your humidity preference. I use 65%.

  • Keep the tupperdore in a place where you can control the temperature, and then fill that bad boy with cigars.

That's it! No nead to season or do any maintenance with something like this.
u/treeflexes · 2 pointsr/cigars

yeah i will be, i'll find some nifty way to protect them, if not i might stop back at the shop before i go and get (this is the part where you can tell i don't know anything) a few of those protective tubes.

EDIT: [these] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001307MMA/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

u/chewbacca2hot · 1 pointr/cigars

To store bulk I bought a sealable crate on Amazon for 20 bucks and 40 dollars worth of Spanish cedar planks. The thing cam probably hold 1000 cigars.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PKNWVZY

I use a sponge in a large bowl with solution for humidity. I don't know why I didn't do this years ago and saved a lot of money.

u/whodaloo · 1 pointr/cigars

I have a Cigar Oasis Ultra 2.0 in my 150 count and the Excel in my NewAir 250.

Both work flawlessly. I moved to ND and the extremely dry winters meant constantly adding water to my 150, which is not an inexpensive leaky humidor, so I decided to try Oasis out. They've pretty much been set and forget. I've had the Pure for about two years now and the Excel for a few months.

The NewAir 250 comes with an inaccurate analog hygrometer. Just get a Caliber IV. I use this with this for both humidors. Just check the wireless units against a boveda- mine are off by 2% after ~5 years.

u/TNT_Guerilla · 1 pointr/cigars

Might I also suggest this. It will help age them and repel tobacco beetles. I have this exact setup and you can stack 2 inserts on top of one another for organization.

Mantello Solid Spanish Cedar Cigar Tray, Adjustable Divider, Fits Large Humidors, 12.5"x7.5"x2.25" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079V3KYT7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_XmWYDbDBZ14JF

2 of these can fit stacked in this container:

Sistema KLIP IT Rectangular Collection Food Storage Container,236 Oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00284AG5U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9pWYDbRPS07FE

u/splat313 · 1 pointr/cigars

The 236 oz Sistema is what I use. It's inexpensive and has a gasket so you have a good seal. It fits two cedar trays and you'll be able to store 30-50 cigars without a problem.

Toss a couple 65% boveda packs in there and you're good to go

u/The_Cleric · 2 pointsr/cigars

That depends how in love you are with that secret lock.

If you're not you can get a cheap humidor with a higher capacity, lighter, and cutter.

Now those are just the bargain items. If you intend to be serious about the hobby I'd suggest a larger humidor or even a coolerdor, a better lighter with a lifetime guarantee, and a much nicer cutter. I personally vouch for this cutter instead of the Xikar, but they don't sell these on CigarBid.

You'll also need a hygrometer as well.

u/BIGMACneil · 1 pointr/cigars

Shit, those would work out perfectly. I was gonna stop by my shop on my way home, so I'll see if they have any large boxes I can get.

Yeah, I was looking at cedar trays or even some larger tupperware that would fit in my 11.5"x11.5" wineador. I could take apart some of my boxes and lay planks of cedar across the tops so I wouldn't have to humidify each individual sealed tupperware.

u/YUNOtiger · 1 pointr/cigars

Canigetaholla pretty much covered you, but I'd like to add that I bought my first humidor from Amazon, and still use it today, 3 years later.

u/Arailah · 3 pointsr/cigars

I use these. You might want to consider them as well. Inexpensive and don't take up too much room. And certainly don't smell like stale smoke :)

u/p4ttythep3rf3ct · 1 pointr/cigars

I grabbed this to start. It's solid and hold humidity well. Other than that I grabbed a Drymistat Tube and it has been pretty set. I quickly moved into a Winedor though as 50 sticks is just too small if you consider smoking fro an extended amount of years.

u/updog357 · 2 pointsr/cigars

The NewAir AW 181, AW 281E or CC300 are also great options. Just depends on how large you want to go and if you want to start with Spanish Cedar shelves/drawers or now.

u/wizzard21 · 1 pointr/cigars

Thanks everyone. I had some wire laying around, so I emptied the wineador and tested out running the wire through the drain hole and it was actually really easy. I went ahead and ordered two fans and an outlet timer.

They are cheaper on Amazon. The CC-300 runs for $359.

I can personally speak to the quality. I have had mine for a few months now and it's great.

u/Cogs76 · 1 pointr/cigars

pick up the perfect draw tool. It works wonders on draw issues. you can get it on amazon now as well.

u/puhleeez · 1 pointr/cigars

Maybe someone with a Whynter can chime in. This one is a popular model here on Reddit. Have read good things about both sizes and it's thermoelectric.

u/lepermessiah57 · 1 pointr/cigars

I've been using http://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Mobile-Fan-External-Cooling/dp/B00080G0BK/ref=zg_bs_3015416011_15 in my wineador for awhile now. It works great. I have it hooked up to a mechanical timer to run for 30mins every 2 hours. I almost never have to mess with the humidity.

u/heykidzimacomputer · 3 pointsr/cigars

Don't buy that. Glass top will cause a good amount of air leaks and the hygrometer is very likely inaccurate.

Ones similar to this are recommended a lot on this sub.

Some people like Xikar lighters because the lifetime warranty.

I've used both of these for a couple of years without any problems.

u/PlumpCigarsTX · 2 pointsr/cigars

Why not both? Literally. The 503Torch does both a torch and soft flame. Although, I rarely use it for a torch since I have a Vertigo Cyclone torch.

What I have started doing lately is toast the foot with my torch and then switch over to a soft flame to finish lighting it. I have found that I get a great burn that way and don't overdo it lighting it with the torch.

Why not just get one of these around $150 then buy a pound of Heartfelt beads and a few bovedas. Holds 250, will run you under $200 and will also control the temperature for you. FYI will not raise the temperature tho, only lower.

Took the two bottom shelves on mine . Threw in a glass top humidor at the bottom to keep my Cubans in and stacked my full boxes on top of the glass top. My other loose sticks go on top drawer. Using 6 60g 65% bovedas in the cigador and 2 62% 60g in the glasstop (because it's just so easy ) Also threw in this fan in the back somewhere running 24/7 and haven't an issue with humidity yet and the humidity and temp is almost the same all around . Also plugged the hole at the bottom where humidity can escape from .

https://www.amazon.com/Whynter-CHC-120S-Stainless-Cooler-Humidor/dp/B00KO95RVO

u/dilespla · 1 pointr/cigars

I got this, and 3 of these. It's currently holding about ~120 sticks.

It's big enough to hold your whole humidor, or you can do like I did, and turn it into the humidor, you know, for space and such.

u/TheOneGuyFromNowhere · 1 pointr/cigars

Well that sucks. Sounds like Cuba QC missed those.

I haven't personally used it yet, but I ordered a PerfecDraw for this reason. Might be worth ordering if you wanna smoke em.

u/bwick29 · 3 pointsr/cigars

I'm sitting here (still disappointed) an hour after excitedly coming home from work to open my new humidor. What a surprise when I opened the Chinese packaging to unveil: http://www.cheaphumidors.com/humidors/small-humidors/spearhead-black-walnut-40-count-desktop-humidor.html AKA https://www.amazon.com/Quality-Importers-Capri-Humidor-Mahogany/dp/B0055QM9O4

Stress cracks in the wood from the hinge mount screws, seal hopefully holds (lid seems quite loose), no hygrometer/lock/handles/window, and more money spent in boveda and now a hygrometer than worth it.

This isnt an imperfect humidor, it's a cheap import that I feel was grossly misrepresented. Did I get what I paid for? I guess, technically. Was it a deal? Not a chance.

Just bummed, really bummed.

u/r4ptor · 2 pointsr/cigars

> I’m not sure how many sticks I’d keep at home but I couldn’t imagine anything more than 50

Famous.
Last.
Words.

Seriously. I said nearly the same thing 5 or so months ago, and bought the Systema 1850 which will hold 40 or so sticks, plus another smaller one for my existing collection. I just bought another one of each as my collection now exceeds my storage capacity... If you get serious about this at all or like to try a variety of cigars, you'll want storage for more than 50.

u/REdd06 · 1 pointr/cigars

What about getting a Boveda One-Step Seasoning Kit and not worry about it? Put one for every 50 cigars +1 and wait two weeks.

u/Wintersun11 · 2 pointsr/cigars

Amazon has Prime options for some - I bought one off there. I got one that is 'designed' to be a humidor, comes with cedar drawers/shelves in it.

If you can squeeze out an extra $50 this could work for you. Link

I have a bunch of these from when I first started smoking and didn't know about bovedas. I take my used 65% bovedas and throw them in a ziplock with these and it recharges them after a while. I have enough bovedas that I just rotate them in and out.

u/Xiadix · 2 pointsr/cigars

Just last week, I got the Newair cc-100 that holds "250". Cleaned it, aired out the plastic smell (which wasn't that bad).

Pros:

  • Already has shelves and drawer
  • Small
  • Clean looking
  • Cheepish at $150 (free quick shipping with Prime)
  • Configured to cool to cigar temp range instead of wine temps
  • It seasoned up really quickly

    Cons:

  • Small if your habit grows
  • Trays and drawer can't be moved around. The drawer has to be on top not bottom (if you care)
  • Built in hygrometer is cheap non-adjustable mechanical junk
  • Built in light is useless
  • Does't heat if your house gets cold (like most wineadors)
  • rest of the wineador cons

I did have to plug the drain hole, but that was easy. I think most of the negative Amazon reviews are from people that didn't know what to do with it and would have complained if the got a huge one with all the bells and whistles.

I've got three of these guys in my Tupperdor right now. Fairly unhappy with them, as the divider doesn't stay up in 2 of them because the short ends are slightly different lengths so it's not a perfect rectangle. I'll certainly grab more trays when I find different ones.

  • big Butane Tank
  • about the size of a small cigar and fits in (any i have tried) humidor just fine
  • can do both Soft Flame and Blue Flame (single)
  • Flame is adjustable
  • did i mention cheap?
  • have 3 of these 1 in garage, 1 in truck, 1 in Humidor for over 2 years and not a single one has failed me in any way shape or form yet
  • Great for emergency wiring repairs on your truck, i know from experience!

    edit:

  • the pushbutton starter is on the bottom so you just tap it against your leg/arm/ashtray/any remotely hard surface to light, advantage you can use this thing with bulky gloves on no problem.
  • Kickstand on bottom is nice especially when you dont wan it to roll off anything
  • only dislike - Softflame will not "light" in windy conditions, but if you light as blue and flip to soft, it'll stay working, and has a decent amount of wind resistance for the soft flame
