They do change color! It comes with a remote where you can choose what color and brightness. They just stick on the back of the tv and are powered via USB.

Now if you wanna get real fancy with it, Philips makes a light kit as well. Stronger light and you can control it with your phone and there’s a TON of customization options too.

Hmm... it rings a bell. Maybe I saw it?

There's also this novel (trilogy actually) -- THE BREACH by Patrick Lee. I get strong vibes of that in Control. Strange objects of power are appearing then put to use by shadowy govt. organization.

I have this issue too. I'm playing it on my AOC G2770PQU and I never have issues with games being too dark because of the amount of colors this monitor can display. However Control is the singular exception to that rule.

I've tried changing the monitor brightness, contrast and gamma and the in-game brightness but all it does is wash the color out and not actually increase my visibility. There are spots in the game where you can climb through holes to flank enemies, but they're completely pitch black by design. Nothing I've changed settings wise on my monitor, GPU or in-game settings even slightly increases visibility in these spots.

I tried hooking the PC up to my TV which has a much lower color range, and it's even worse on there. Spots I can actually see on my monitor are completely black on my TV. It doesn't seem like an issue with either of our monitors/tvs, I think this game just has really dark spots that you aren't supposed to see in. Though I can't see any reason why the devs would do this.

Here's what I'm talking about. This is in a combat area and the path in front of me is a flanking route to get the drop on the enemies. You can successfully move through this area to get a better angle so it's not like an area the player isn't intended to go through.
