Hmm, if budget is a problem I would say either a gaming headsett which can come from anything from 70 to 100$ like the Logitech G35 or Turtle beach Earforce PX21 for 50-95$. If you're just looking for a good microphone I would say look at a microphone like SINN 7 Podcast microphone, which you can get for about 70-80$. These are just amazon prises, so i believe that you can get it cheaper somewhere from a local store, if not a online store in you're region. Getting the high quality sound would require a 60$+ Headset or microphone.

The SINN 7 Podcast microphone Is a really good microphone which I recommend you get if you plan on doing allot of these lore videos or something similar in the long run. As it is a cardioid microphone which is excellent for recording speeches/vocal, if you do get one of these I would also recommend you buy pop filter too, or just make one yourself, not that hard.

You have a really soothing voice, which is relaxing to listen to. So I recommend the SINN 7 or a microphone similar following the cardioid for recording vocals, as it can filter out allot of background noises.

It was pretty easy, actually!

We chugged some Sunny D to get the bottle. The glow comes from filling the empty bottle with an LED strand (I used these ones: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B013TEEKOK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_Mdx.zb0W43YVJ ).

The tricky part was doing something to diffuse the light so that the individual LEDs didn't shine through too well. My wife tried using some orange and yellow glow-in-the-dark paint, but the stuff wouldn't stick or dry correctly, so we wound up with some less-impressive fabric paint. Some fancy glowing flame patterns would have been really neat, but this worked really well, too.

I also wrapped some twisty ties around the opening and reaching down into the bottle to hold the LED switch near the top so I could turn it on and off with ease. There's probably a smarter way to do that.

I bought the game on a Steam Sale for $5. It's now one of my favorite games of all time. It might not be everything I want out of a remaster in terms of QoL features, but it's going to bring it to PS4 and Switch where I will be able to play with friends (originally played entirely solo and offline) or portably, respectively. Sad about the Switch delay, and I might not actually pick it up on both platforms, but I am excited that I will be able to support the game, even as a remaster, in a more substantial capacity. I know that probably sounds crazy, that I'm excited to spend money, but I actually think it's insane how little people are willing to pay for something just because a title is older (remember, there are new players who will be encountering this game for the first time). Casablanca, for instance, is still being sold for a whole $14 on Blu-ray. That movie's old! Getting mad about it being released on a new format or getting mad that you don't get a free copy when you already own it on VHS is a similar kind of crazy. So you are happy with the version you already own? Great. You're not being forced to buy any new version. I for one am glad to see that people who never had a chance to play the game will have this version that is more accessible to modern platforms. As for my part in buying in too? Laugh away, but to use your parlance, "k."

Edit: This is not to say that there aren't things about this release that can and indeed should be critiqued. As someone who cares about longevity of access, I find it incredibly upsetting that PtDE has been hidden on Steam, for example.

Never said it would be cheap, I know the giant frame for my Mum's book of the dead was ridiculous. When you're getting a thing around that size, it really does make a room though, so it may well be worth it for some people. As for the mag clips, that may be quite a nice idea. Would work really well in a rustic sort of games room that I dream of owning but never will...

I think another more reasonably priced idea would be something like a HUGE version of one of these being made for it, if that's possible. I think it would work well if it's possible, and may well be much cheaper.

By the way, great image mate, will probably be picking up a small version and framing it myself, do you know how much that would likely be?

Yeah, you have to download the app. Sorry! :(

EDIT: To answer your question, I'm mildly extremely inebriated, but I'm using a Black Magic Intensity Pro for capturing the game content. Xsplit is currently a free program (in beta!) that will stream straight to twitch.tv. Hope that answers your question! If not, I'll answer when I'm sober. In the morning. Hopefully.

EDIT AGAIN: This was essentially what got me to stream: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=309480 He pretty much lays out all the choices and alternatives for individuals that want to stream console games.

If you need a cheap Xbox 360 compatible controller (well, a PC controller that uses xinput), the Logitech F310 is a great starting point for around $25-30 depending on where you look. I personally have both the F310 and the F710, and can definitely say that the F710 feels like it is of higher build quality. The outer housing and buttons are all technically the same plastic, but the inputs feel more solid, it has rumble, and more importantly, it has weight. Oh, and its wireless with a battery life that even the Wii U pro controller wished it had.

Dark souls definitely feels better on these than it does my actual Xbox 360 controller, almost like it was built for these controllers.

Lol. This comment is some next-level crazy and I love it.

>spending an hour trying to get it to charge

What? You plug it in, it charges... like most modern electronic devices. You can even play games while it's charging. Indefinitely. And it holds a charge AT LEAST four hours, not sure where you're getting this 2 hour number from.

>And exclusives are bullshiiiiiiiitttt

Tell that to everyone buying PS4s I guess. The PS4 is the clear winner of this console generation in terms of sales. That's definitely due, at least in part, to having many more popular exclusive titles than the Xbox One.

>Bloodborne was pure garbage

Oh honey.

>God of War would be cool but is just GoW

...huh?

> Horizon and Last of Us are really the only things that make having a PS4 cool except I can't play them cause of the moronic controllers.

You can. I promise you can. Here's a link to a cheap USB extension cable that I know for a fact works with the PS4:https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Extension-Cable-2-Pack-Female/dp/B00NH13Q8W/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1525926235&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=usb+extension+cable&psc=1

Just keep that controller plugged in and game away my friend.

Or don't, it really doesn't matter to me. To be clear, I find your comment more hilarious than offensive.

u/brain_56 · 1 pointr/darksouls

Yeah, I'd really recommend wireless. The XBOX 360 controller comes with a really long wire, and since I play on a laptop, I play sometimes on the couch or on the floor or just in front of the laptop. This lead to some wear and tear of the wire. And it was a hassle to fold it every time! So I'd recommend wireless if you're like me.

The Steam controller's $49.99 on Amazon.

I was under the impression that the estus flask was supposed to resemble a sake bottle similar to this.

If you look around a bit you might find options that give you the result that you want with less work. Just a thought, and good luck on your project!

Also, A looks best!

u/xaronax · 0 pointsr/darksouls

Get the wireless dongle for Xbox controllers. It's the best for playing DS on the PC and TV, plus you can play Guitar Hero/Rock Band (if anyone still does). 360 controller is the best controller.

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Authentic-Wireless-Pc-Receiver-Windows/dp/B00FAS1WDG/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1417248156&sr=1-3&keywords=Xbox+360+Wireless+Gaming+Receiver+for+Windows

That one looks good. Be wary of fakes.

u/WholesomeDM · 2 pointsr/darksouls

I think this is caused when your controller doesn't support Xinput (not entirely sure what this means, but it's how windows reads controller inputs). You can find perfectly good Xinput controllers online. I've been using This one for ages.

Here ya go OP, just buy yourself a roll of this and you'll have plenty of paper for your message/summon sign needs and you'll also be able to feel good about your gift wrap for the next several holidays. Plus, "rustic" looks are very in right now, so get yourself some twine instead of bows/ribbon and really set the artsy tone at your next birthday or Christmas. Bonus points if you tell everyone that the paper is recycled and biodegradable while looking down your nose at their gifts.

"But /u/TheMadFlyentist, there's no sticky!"

Fret not, skeleton. This paper is thick enough to wedge between the sign and pole, or you could kick it up a notch and learn a little origami.

u/HalfBlindPrince · 2 pointsr/darksouls

I would recommend this mic. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2100-USB-Cardioid-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B004QJOZS4

It's pretty cheap, and it gives great quality sound for what it costs.

Try the wheel of time series by Robert Jordan. There is a very deep and detailed lore in the series. Plenty of brilliant dark fantasy settings. You can get the first one here.Overall a brilliant series, very worth the read

What about Halo Anniversary, which has few gameplay changes (Only an unneeded kinect feature, and xbox live coop), but does have impressive graphic and sound updates, and you can switch back to the old graphics at will? On its Amazon page it's described as a remaster. https://www.amazon.com/Halo-Combat-Evolved-Anniversary-Xbox-360/dp/B0050SYY5E

It was also $40 at launch, while providing very obvious significant graphic updates. vs DSR where a lot of things you can't tell if they were updated or not, and the things that are obvious improvements, clash with the art style or the relatively low fidelity of the thing next to them.

u/Conflagrated · 1 pointr/darksouls

This pad has served me well for years.
While it's discontinued online, causing the prices to go up -- you can still find it in stores for twenty dollars or less.

Alternatively, you can use their newer model which has better thumbsticks.

Comes in wireless flavors, too!

The 360 pad is also great, but the controls for this game are clearly optimized for a PS3-esque layout. With the attacks being mapped to the shoulder buttons.

u/GateshipOne · 1 pointr/darksouls

Roxio is meh. It really is not the best choice at the price. Here are your best options. Both work on Mac and PC:

Hauppauge HDPVR

Elgato Game Capture HD

Best Mac recording software. Also "obtainable" by "other" means...

Best PC recording and editing same "situation" as above

Advice: Save more money. DO NOT cheap out on capture cards. The 2 that I listed are very high quality and I have personal experience with both and have liked them all. I have also had experience with the Roxio and the quality and ease of use just does not compare to that of the Elgato or the Hauppauge. These will last you quite a while for multiple generations of devices. You will regret going with a Dazzle, Roxio, AverMedia HD, etc. etc.

u/jjshowal · 2 pointsr/darksouls

Thank you! Here's the link. I got mine in just black. My shitty iPhone doesn't capture it very well, but it's really more of a dark charcoal which I actually like better

ArtToFrames 12x34 inch Satin Black Picture Frame, 2WOMFRBW26079-12x34 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MRTFP2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yg1-yb1NWRFW6

u/poslepoludnya · -7 pointsr/darksouls

Not to be a douche or anything, maybe it's different in America, but it's viewed as disrespectful to ask how art is made here, because art is not made, it is the spiritual force of soul being put on the canvas. You would not ask a person how they made their personality, and you would not ask a person why they walk the way they do. Art is the same way.

If you want to perhaps learn the same way I learned (which is kind of impossible because I painted for 10 years before I even touched an art program), here's a great book that's relatively cheap now, here.

u/IronOkami · 2 pointsr/darksouls

If you're looking for a book book and not a manga or graphic novel and want it linked within the DS universe etc, here's a book https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Souls-Beyond-Grave-1/dp/B0725PC783/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1537286450&sr=8-14&keywords=dark+souls

u/OwMc22 · 4 pointsr/darksouls

I’ve heard of these books, (this being the first in what I believe is a series) going in depth regarding the games but I’m not sure how much lore is mentioned —-> Dark Souls: Beyond The Grave, Volume 1
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0725PC783/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9t0kDbCE73Z3Q

Also I have read one of the graphic novels which further expands on different parts of the lore, I’d recommend.
