Whats your budget like? I don't ahve one personally but I am pretty sure taht my brother has the Escort IX. It's always entertaining driving with him because of how well it picks up cops nearby. If it's in your budget, it's probably a safe bet.

Good man. I've only had front cams but seriously thinking about the new A129 Pro Duo. I've had Viofo cameras before and they are great, and this one is finally 4k and looks really good bang for the buck.

I'll probably also get an upgraded SD card since the read/write cycles are pretty demanding.

This is what I use and its about as good as you can get for your budget https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IEQUABA

Records really well at night, better than 1080p resolution so it captures details like license plates and people moving around in the car. Comes with everything you need including a cable to get power from the cigarette lighter in your car. Get a decent 64GB high speed micro SD card like this one https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSDXC-Standard-Packaging-SDSQUNC-064G-GN6MA/dp/B010Q588D4 and youre set for less than $150.

No problem, wanted to give you an update tho. I ended up going with an Opia2 because of all the great reviews it got. For me I was looking for the best quality image.

I also really like how you can swivel the camera around to any angle.

Hope you find what works best for you!

I just bought the basic Crosstour as well and am very surprised at the video quality and ease of use.
Definitely worth the $25 I paid. and if not, hey, it's only $29.97.

> Sorry for posting this!

Don't be sorry. This is exactly the discussion that this subreddit is for :)

Between those two, I would go with the Apeman. I've seen these around reddit and can attest that they are at least somewhat popular. I've never heard of the 70mai brand so I would probably not go with it. The only other one that'd i'd recommend is the Aukey or B1W in the sidebar but if you don't like them, then the Apeman should be fine.

Just make sure you pair with a high endurance SD card to go with it. Since dashcams do a lot of read/write cycles on the memory, normal ones tend to fail quickly. Fortunately, they are pretty cheap nowadays. Go with something like [this Samsung one.](
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Endurance-32GB-Micro-Adapter/dp/B07B98GXQT/ref=as_li_ss_tl?&qid=1557341069&s=gateway&sr=8-2&linkCode=ll1&tag=rdtdshcm-20&linkId=2047fbd4d3029cadd417bbc9871d1d07&language=en_US)

The 3-wire hardwire kits enable parking mode and battery discharge prevention, whereas normal fuse taps just hide your wires and your camera will turn off when your car is off.

I don't know too much about mirror dashcams but what I've heard about the is TOGUARD is relatively a popular choice. The RExing might be just as good.

u/ElonMesk · 2 pointsr/dashcams

Do share your progress on this build!

Something like this camera should be pretty decent given it uses the Sony IMX322 sensor. It is a bit pricey though.

I recently purchased the VIOFO A119S for $120. I can't comment on durability at this time, but the installation and use is easy as pie. Clear picture, I have no issues seeing signs and license plates in the day or night-time.

u/CafeRoaster · 1 pointr/dashcams

I have the A129 cams hard-wired ( this Dashoto kit is the best deal ). I take the card out and upload to my computer. I need to get a second card so I don't have to bring the computer to the car or leave the cam without a card.

Be sure to get this card.

A little bit of google fu.. The logo on left bottom said mini 2. There are two mini 2 webcams. The below one fits the bill , look at the customer images and the logo is a perfect match.

I use (and am VERY happy with) a DDPAI Mini2... paired to my phone, records a clip (# of seconds of your choice) to your phone (DDPAI app) it if you want.. with the press of a separate little black button, with 3M tape, that you can stick anywhere..

I don’t really use that but anyway I have one camera up front and 1 in the rear of my car (shooting through tint) and I can clearly read license plates from both .. the camera is discreet and offers up to 2K recording, also holds a 128gb card with no problem, so I have almost 3 months of recording at any one time. (I drive only 80 miles a week, approximately).. The upgraded Mini3 uses only flash memory but I prefer a removable memory card and will stick with this, as long as I can.

Also, before these, I was using a huge suction cup and a 2X more expensive, lower quality and less discreet dashcam.. the Roadhawk HD. (Available only from authorized retailers.. I can’t even resell them on amazon or eBay now) 🥴

DDPAI Mini2 Link below; ($69 on amazon but often on lightning deals) .... also, I’m trying to find a clip of a crash that I captured, to upload to show the quality.. I’ll edit this later if I can.
