It's sadly still the case that iPads have a greater selection of games, though Android is getting more options.
If price is a serious constraint, you could look at an iPad Mini. Most iOS games should work on the mini.
If price is a more serious constraint, and/or you want a 10" screen (which is certainly better for board games), you could look at Android tablets. This one gets awesome reviews on Amazon and is only $120.
Depends on what you want. I have both, but I can afford it -- and I need both because I'm an app developer.
