Color of Magic was a decent movie, still too bad they cut huge chunks from the books (always the thing that disappoint me) but I guess if one's only watches the movie, that wouldn't do any justice to the story.

Same goes for "Hogfather", don't remember exactly but lots of parts have been cut out and some things didn't make any sense to me anymore.

I, personally, read them in publication order. Hope you'll fall in love with the City Watch as much as I did.

One thing that could totally ruin the way you pictures things in your head is : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Art-Discworld-GOLLANCZ-S-F/dp/0575077123

I love Paul Kirby's art and glad I bought this book.

Anyway, don't know if you're into video games but I've played Discworld 2 as a teenager (without ever knowing of Pratchett or that it was based on books) and loved it. But now that I think back, I would have enjoyed more if I had read at least a solid dozen of Discworld books before.

I also played "Discworld Noir" but didn't finish it.

I think a good place to look for clues on these would be 'Guards! Guards!', where Vimes first meets Lady Sybil and Dragons play a major role (spoiler alert :D). Unfortunately I do not have a copy to look through right now.
Hope that helps!
Unrelated to the disk world, when I was a kid and little dragon fanatic I was a sucker for this dragon art book, which, if I remember correctly, had great drawing tutorials and few puns as well: https://www.amazon.com/Dragonart-Fantastic-Dragons-Fantasy-Creatures/dp/1581806574/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=neondragon+peffer&qid=1555035744&s=gateway&sr=8-5-spell

Mentioning a few that I haven't seen listed yet.

I really dig anything by Peter Clines - mainly the Ex-Heroes series, but also the Fold/14 shared universe too.

I have also always enjoyed the Callahan Chronicals series by Spider Robinson

I've also enjoyed the Magic Ex Libris series by Jim C Hines

Than you so much! I love it. I got it on Amazon for a convention. I wore it non stop all weekend. It was awesome :-D

I also am not sure if it's allowed, but here's the link:

Happy witching!

A Blink of the Screen: Collected Shorter Fiction: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0804169217/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_BcGyybNAYX4VC.

You might also have luck finding a lot of them free to read online, though I don't have the links on hand currently.

There's a great Discworld board game called Discworld: Ankh-Morpork Tons of fun references to the books, easy to learn rules, and the board is a map of Ankh-Morpork, the main city of Discworld. Highly recommended. There are also several other Discworld board games, but try this one.

This poster was recently mentioned in this subreddit, and seems cool: http://www.spinelessclassics.net/the-colour-of-magic-fantasy-poster-258.htm

Personal favorites that might apply:

"Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life."

  • Jingo

"Stupid men are often capable of things the clever would not dare to contemplate..."
  • Feet of Clay

I'm sure I can find more for you, but I'm at work and my copy of The Wit and Wisdom of Discworld is at home.

Actually 28 minutes due to the 11 o'clock news summary not being factored in.

The CD version will be released on 15th January "with bonus length episodes and outtakes" (but it doesn't say how much bonus length there will be).

There is an official map available, here's a link to it on Amazon UK

I have the map of Ankh Morpork and it's pretty interesting

I've been purchasing the reissued mass market paperbacks one at a time as I finish them (currently reading small gods ). I'm pretty sure they are the only ones I've found to be a complete matching set. So far so good.

If you enjoy this, buy the original. It's got a preface by Stephen Briggs about the process of creating the map, too.

Ach I'm over 2 weeks late... and it's funny - I was re-reading Small Gods at the time!

There are a few different versions of the book:

u/vonmonologue · 1 pointr/discworld

I just read The Folklore Of Discworld and it says that the story is explicitly a reference to these myths, which are widespread across many different cultures.

King Arthur in particular is mentioned as being asleep under a castle or an abbey, waiting to be awakened at a time of great need.

u/FixBayonetsLads · 9 pointsr/discworld

Well, if you just want art(and want to know what the characters OFFICIALLY look like) there's The Art Of Discworld by Pterry and Paul Kidby.

Check The Discworld Mapp. Large fold-out map of the Disc that could be adapted to a tabletop.

I have a poster of a book cover, but I got it at a museum.

There are Discworld Mapps, too!

Characters, I guess. Maybe the Watch. If you don't have The Art Of Discworld, buy it.

I personally have DEATH and The Death Of Rats on my leg.

It kind of entirely depends on your favourite parts of the Discworld series. I love DEATH and The Watch, so I would go with them. I also like the Witches, so Granny Weatherwax would probably feature and there would have to be a Feegle or two.
