Thank you all! I'm all out of Dogecoin to give on this giveaway; but I had a wonderful time and I hope you all did as well! Once sodogetip is back online, those waiting for Doge should all get it... otherwise, well... we'll see what we can do. XD

Oh and in case no one has been following all the responses here, the image is an homage to one of my favorite books called The Go-Giver....

https://www.amazon.com/Go-Giver-Expanded-Little-Powerful-Business/dp/1591848288

...if you haven't heard of it, please read it when you can [either by buying or borrowing it from a library], it will make you appreciate what we do here in the Dogecoin community!

Good luck, fellow shibes and Doge-givers!

>There have been some excellent trading opportunities with returns as high as 30% to your overall portfolio! Crypto is providing big returns that are uncommon in traditional markets.

I guess you have a good intention, Mr. Hustle, but I'd hate to see the kind shibes here being taken advantage of again. You should be more objective and also warn people that they can as easily lose that much of money when trading, especially when they don't know what they are doing initially.

And the effectiveness of technical 'analysis' is a highly debatable issue. I'd just leave this quote from Wikipedia:

> Technical analysis is widely used among traders and financial professionals and is very often used by active day traders, market makers and pit traders. In the 1960s and 1970s it was widely dismissed by academics. In a recent review, Irwin and Park[13] reported that 56 of 95 modern studies found that it produces positive results but noted that many of the positive results were rendered dubious by issues such as data snooping, so that the evidence in support of technical analysis was inconclusive; it is still considered by many academics to be pseudoscience.[14] Academics such as Eugene Fama say the evidence for technical analysis is sparse and is inconsistent with the weak form of the efficient-market hypothesis.[15][16] Users hold that even if technical analysis cannot predict the future, it helps to identify trading opportunities.[17]

...

> Whether technical analysis actually works is a matter of controversy. Methods vary greatly, and different technical analysts can sometimes make contradictory predictions from the same data. Many investors claim that they experience positive returns, but academic appraisals often find that it has little predictive power.[51] Of 95 modern studies, 56 concluded that technical analysis had positive results, although data-snooping bias and other problems make the analysis difficult.[13] Nonlinear prediction using neural networks occasionally produces statistically significant prediction results.[52] A Federal Reserve working paper[21] regarding support and resistance levels in short-term foreign exchange rates "offers strong evidence that the levels help to predict intraday trend interruptions," although the "predictive power" of those levels was "found to vary across the exchange rates and firms examined".

I'm not saying not to take coaching from DogeHustle, just that if people want to do it, be aware of its 'limitation' too and have fun doing it with your disposable money only. As an alternative, I strongly suggest shibes who want to try predicting the future based on pattern analysis to do it in a principled manner and learn math, stats and machine learning. It won't be easy, but it will have a wide application beyond trading (so-called data 'science' is the hot job nowadays). It will also teach you the limitation of such methods, and when it might fail, especially in such a manipulated market like crypto. This is a good book to start with:

I think we should follow /u/thistime1's idea, and combine resources to purchase a prize wheel for Talladega.

/u/thistime1 mentioned a really excellent idea to have a 'Dogewheel' at Talladega.

He/she mentioned "We could load each slice with an amount and give away the corresponding amount in a paper wallet. Might be better than trying just to hand them out, people might think they are just garbage flyers or something."

Any shibes already have a Prize Wheel they'd like to bring to Talladega? Or perhaps are able to help find which one is best?

This was the biggest wheel I could find: http://www.amazon.com/18-Segment-Tabletop-Color-Erase-Spinning/dp/B00DWH1R3W/

I agree with /u/thistime1 that paper that is passed around freely may be regarded as garbage.

That's nice to hear... Anyway, what I'd consider a very relevant reading from a Dogecoin perspective is Lean Startup by Eric Ries.

What has happened with Doge is that it has, so far, failed to make the jump from early adopters to mainstream consumers. Which is a bigger problem than with any other coin, as pretty much the mission statement of Doge is to be a friendly crypto, a "crypto of the masses". So Doge has so far failed its primary mission statement.

Thing with early adopters is that we're forgiving. We use google. We're techies and hackers, and can do hacks. A developer with an early adopter mindset might completely misread the priorities of a mainstream consumer.

I remember asking about the MultiDoge instability here, and an experienced shibe said that MultiDoge shouldn't really be used, and most shibes get by with an online wallet and paper wallets... Well that's nice and all, but that isn't what's written on [dogecoin.com].

And you might say "who cares what is written there", but the fact is, the mainstream consumer cares. The mainstream consumer cares about stuff like missing icons, like being "recommended" a download that doesn't work absolutely seamlessly, like the "About" tab of Core still saying Litecoin (might have been fixed since, been a while since I saw that), etc.

They hear about Doge, think Doge is awesome, go to dogecoin.com, and for reasons such as pointed out above, quickly decide it's either "not ready yet", or "is abandoned", and we lose them for good.

For the sake of publishing, I've had good luck with CreateSpace and KDP. Both are owned by Amazon and take a much smaller cut of royalties than traditional publishers.

To prove they work, here's a link to something I've published.

(Not child friendly, written for cynical teenagers.)

I actually wrote a children's story about the moon once. MOON, Shibes.
And here it is, in it's entirety.

Once there was a girl who loved the night sky.
she loved the moon.
She loved the stars.
She loved the airplanes.
Once, on her birthday, she had a wonderful wish.
She wanted to visit all her friends in the sky.
She wanted to ride an airplane.
She wanted to walk the moon.
She wanted to dance among the stars.
The moon, having heard her wish, lifted her from the ground.
She flew past airplanes.
She flew past clouds.
She came to meet the moon.
“I am the moon, and I love you”
“But moon, I want to keep going. I want to see the stars.”
“The stars will hurt you.”
“I just want to dance among them.”
“They won't treat you right.”
“They're so pretty.”
“I suppose, if you really wish, I could let you dance with the stars.”
“Thank you, moonfriend.”
So the moon let her go, and she kept flying. She met with the stars, and asked them to dance.
One star was hot and burned her.
One star had become a black hole and tried to shrink her down.
One star exploded and left her with a bruise.
When she could no longer take the stars, she floated back down to the moon.
“Moon, why did the stars hurt me?”
“Because they may be pretty from afar, but up close, they can hurt you.”
“Would you ever hurt me, moon?”
“no. I am the moon, and I love you.”
“You wouldn't make me feel small?”
“You are big to me.”
“You wouldn't bruise me?”
“I have no way to bruise you.”
“I love you moon.”
“I love you, girl.”

If you want to make a dogeatm, I am down to help out where possible. here is my idea so far:
one of these, for printing the temporary wallet adresses one of these for transferring moneys
in a fancy waterproofing case with some sort of input system for entering adresses. I want to build an doge ATM. but am wondering how to convert dollar bills back into doge, if anyone has any input please do tell, I would like to place a few of these around to increase visibility.

You have done a lot to support the doge community, WOW, recruiting 14 shibes is an impressive feat, and that is what we need.

I am an independent author. And am excited about making my books available with Doge.

My books are available on Amazon: Vol I, Vol II, Vol III, Omnibus

But I believe for Dogecoin to be successful, more and more people need to make their products available for Dogecoins. Hence, I am making it available for Dogecoins and available via multiple platforms.

You can pick them up from:

  1. AllSos: Volume I, Volume II, Volume III

  2. Dogeslist: Volume I, Volume II, Volume III

I have also been giving out quite a few free copies here as this is a fantastic community and I feel guilty about charging such wonderful people here. So if you would like a free copy, just holler. :)

Lastly, if my experiments with Dogecoins go well, I am looking at releasing Volume IV for Dogecoins exclusively for the initial couple of months.

It is difficult to accept because I didn't see your reasoning - it is not as obvious as you think. Basically, you are claiming that a better tax regime structure will make the poor not poor and thus the exemptions would end. This would, of course, mean that the tax rate becomes more regressive again, because without exemptions those at the lower levels pay more of their income in taxes than the rich. And of course, this will help to further stratify society and keep the money where it's at. Now that I understand your reasoning it is even harder to accept.

Percentage of income taxed is THE measure. That's why we have progressive tax rates today. Taxing the wealthy at the same rate as the poor is simply unfair in addition to creating greater inequality in society. There has been general agreement since the 19th century that fair taxation is progressive taxation, which is why we have progressive tax rates around the world and no one has done anything as silly as a flat tax.

And the US has forced redistribution all the time: note how income has shifted upwards over the last 35 years while the tax burden shifts away from businesses and the rich and onto the middle class. This has been largely due to deliberate tax policy favoring the wealthy. Your proposal would be the greatest giveaway every to the super rich. For data, see the book "Perfectly Legal."

using 3 of these: XFX R9 270 (link below) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GN1Y43E/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the three vary in settings, but my best one is:

  • 465kh/s
  • autofan set to 61c, it stays there
  • fan runs at ~2150 to keep it at 61c
  • undervolted to 1.063V
  • 1100 GPU clock
  • 1500 Mem clock
  • 0 powertune
  • I19

My others are similar, but undervolted differently.. for example one needs 1.1V and the other 1.075... (both down from stock of 1.188)

If you just try to eyeball patterns from historical charts, I guarantee you will see it because that's just what the brain has evolved to do: spotting patterns well (e.g. Jesus on a toast), even when it's actually due to random chance. That's also why most of the so-called technical 'analysis' are bullshit.

Instead, approach this in a systematic and principled manner. You can try check out this book to get an idea what I'm talking about: Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning. This is the standard grad-level introduction to the field, but might be rather heavy for some. An easier read is this one. You can find the PDF of these books online through some searching or just head to your local library. Approaching the problem from a probabilistic and statistical angle also lets you know the extent of what you can predict and more importantly, what the limitations are and when the approach breaks down -- which happens a lot actually.

TL;DR: predicting patterns is hard. That's why stats is the sexy new job of the century, alongside with 'data science' (hate that term uuurgh).

OK thanks, I took the plunge and also ordered this power supply http://amzn.com/B003TUMDWG I read about in another thread for $13 on amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-SATA-Drive-Adapter-Cable/dp/B00HJZJI84?th=1

Google something like "vaio <model-number> drive removal" where model number is the model number somehwere on the laptop.

You probably just need a small screw driver to take the screws out. Once it's out you can slave it right up like a USB drive to the new computer. They sell those adapters pretty much anywhere computer stuffs are sold.

Happy Year of the Dogecoin, Shibes! Some of you have been asking for the templates to my Year of the Dogecoin Scratch-Off Wallets, so I thought I would post them for everybody to use.

SUPPLIES I USED:

watch out for good deals on gridseeds. You can get them for 40-50 bucks right now.

I'm using this power supply
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003TUMDWG/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This splitter
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG7HO52/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Amazonbasics 7port USB hub which was for sale on amazon for $18.99

Hooked up to my win7 machine running CGminer, might go to raspberry pi route soon just to get it out of my room. As I said, I don't pay for power so ya... otherwise ROI would be basically unattainable which it pretty much is anyway.

You CANNOT DUAL MINE with this setup. SCRYPT ONLY, Absolutely NO SHA-256. power supply with splitter works, simply because gridseeds use such little power in scrypt only mode.

I'm going to be getting one for myself. I'll bring it with me to Talladega to have in the dogeTent. So the kids have something to hold while their parents are chatting with us. :)
