Okay I swear I'm not a Halo shill but: Eric Nylund's Fall of Reach. It's a Halo Prequel book but completely readable standalone and is what got me into the Halo series actually. If you liked Mass Effect & scifi it's really good. It's basically a similar universe to ME but with much more fleshed out lore.

I'm also not a fan of romance stuff usually but I discovered Karen Marie Moning's fever series looking through Mathia Arkoniel's gorgeous DeviantArt gallery (http://mathiaarkoniel.deviantart.com/gallery/) that's full of Dragon Age and ASOAIF stuff.. two of my favoritest series ever and went "What could go wrong?" And it isn't that bad at all actually.

And of course who could forget these? ;)

$500 is not going to buy you a new gaming laptop that will be up to date for DA:I, even at low settings.

Generally speaking, Asus's Republic of Gamers line of laptops are solidly built gaming laptops sold at reasonable prices, but the cheapest model I can find on Amazon is the 15' ASUS ROG GL551JM-DH71 which is currently $1,089.99.

It comes with a GeForce GTX 860M which I believe will play DA:I at High settings at 720p resolution based on these benchmarks.

So I'd recommend discussing with your parents if they would be willing to front you more money and/or you save up your own to chip in, and/or look for some used ones on ebay.

It's really brilliant of BioWare to have the writers doing playthroughs, and talking (in limited, spoiler-free ways) about them. They aren't professional QA people, but they do know their stuff, and provide another angle on QA, maybe even one that's closer to what we players will experience.

Also, it's hilarious. Plus good PR, to be sure.

EDIT TO ADD: speaking of PR, here's the link to Weekes' new book:

Its definitely not ideal on 360 but I've been enjoying it so far. That is also, though, my conditioning from playing the previous two games on a less than stellar PC at low graphics.. so yeah. Some parts of the graphics are strangely far out of place in quality compared to other parts, but its definitely playable.

I would advise you to keep shopping around for an HD though, I was in a similar situation as you with the HD-less 4gb version I got for christmas, but I got a 120GB HD for less than the 60GB one you found. Any HD for the 360 slim model will also fit the E model, which I assume is the one you had. It'll be worth it if you end up getting other games you want/need to install or for any digital downloads too.

Does the Lootcrate exclusive stuff count? I've got the Sacred Ashes Morrigan figure, the high dragon statue, and my personal favorite: a Grey Warden copper mug. I love the Grey Warden heraldry and would like to see more merch. Also, what I wouldn't do for a deck of DA:I tarot cards.

I don't have the DA tarot deck, but I have the DA playing cards and I have some of them in regular card sleeves stuck to the wall with poster tack. It's nice 'cause it lets me take 'em down and play with 'em sometimes, or swap out which ones I'm displaying fairly easily.

Is the DA deck bigger than poker cards? You can get odd sized playing card sleeves, but I've also used post card sleeves taped over or cut down for bigger decks.

Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate.. 30 bucks.

Dragon Age 2.. 40 bucks.

I would be happy to link you to all the prices on the DLC's as well.

EDIT: God I am off today. Forgot to ask. Is Dragon Age II worth buying at all?

Dont I?

And before you say a thing about blah blah console peasant, this whole thread is about Xbox one games being worth the value. PC has plenty of titles well worth their price points and it has nothing to do with this at all. Regardless, D3 + reaper of souls on console is going for $35 now, down from $60. Its even cheaper for the 360 and Ps3. And it was definitely worth the $60.

you could get a better card for much less. use resource sites like videocardbenchmark to compare power vs cost. save yourself a ton of money.

Use newegg for reviews. shop around.

This list took 2 minutes to find after comparing price vs power and a little shopping around.

If money isn't a problem, I'm happy with this setup though it's a bit more expensive than is necessary:

  • 360 rechargable controller with transforming D-pad
  • Wireless connecter for PC (needed if you go with a wireless controller)
  • Squidgrip (comfort)

The more expensive "play and charge" version doesn't require swapping batteries, you just plug it in to recharge (where it becomes a regular Wired controller so you can still use it), and that's worth the extra $20 to me. The squid-grips, when applied properly, make holding the controller more comfortable.

The game is optimized for a 360 controller - the best option is to use a 360 controller emulator (I'm using one for my PS3 controller) if there is one.

EDIT: According to this thread, there should be some sort of DirectInput option on the F510, see if that one works.

If your PC can run it well, absolutely no reason to not get it on PC. It is supposed to come with controller support (source) so you can choose between the precision of KB+M or the convenience of controllers, while Frostbite 3 is mod unfriendly it's always possible some dedicated fans might find a way to mod it (meanwhile it is practically impossible to mod it on console no matter how dedicated the fanbase), you can choose to play it at your desk in front of the monitor, hooked up to your TV, or if we're lucky we might be able to use Steam to stream it to a laptop, etc.

Only downside I can see is 1) if you don't already own a XInput controller, you'll have to buy one if you want to play with a controller (Playstation style controllers go for $20, XBox 360 controllers go for $30, allegedly you can also use your XBone controller but not wirelessly), and 2) if you haven't upgraded your PC in the past few years it may take a while to find settings that it runs well on and you might have to significantly tone down the graphical quality to get it running well. If you're worried about that, I'd say just wait, don't preorder until the system requirements are out (they might already be, but quick googleing isn't turning up any official sources), and then compare to what you have and go from there.

What about the art book for dragon age inquisition? It's awesome seeing all the concept work for characters and areas; it's definitely on the top of my Christmas list!
